  3. I prefer my style http://www.realsteelrestorations.com.au/Re...20Pty%20Ltd.htm
  4. I have also heard - not seen first hand - that some of the stickons can yellow over time and are difficult to remove if they do yellow. Wayne
  5. Good Question, they are a FPV part so in order to replace my broken one I needed to prove I owned a FPV. Occasionally you will see one on ebay or around. I've been quoted about an hour to replace mine, apparently a tight fit and a pain, so fitting one to a car might be a real of a job. P.S. Mine is replaced under warantee so The wouldn't be over quoting labour too much. Wayne
  6. There appears to be 2 main companies. Car Bra in Melbourne and Robco in Sydney (www.carbras.com.au) I have a robo car bra and Car bra mirror bras. My understanding is that the black is more robust than the coloured material. Be aware that the battery takes air flow from behind the left headlight and the performance cars take their flows from behind the right headlight. Putting plastic over the headlights seriously blocks the airflow. I have punched holes around my carbra headlight plastic to increase air flow. Mirror bras go over the mirrors to keep the bugs off. 7. Before AWC disappeared we purchased a Fibreglass v8 bulge to trial costs of a fibreglass V8 bulge version with back vents. It has been made but due to AWC's present position we have decided not to pursue that option. I'll be selling that bonnet off soon to clear the space. We hope to have back vent kits and bonnets available soon after the new equipment arrives but there is a bit more R&D before we can produce the Front vents effectively in bulk. The process of building parts for this has been more intensive than I first thought so sorry for the delays but given the money already invested we will definately get there. I'm presently setting up a business web site so people can keep in touch. I'm trying to get some things ready prior to the FPV day. Hope this updates peoples without clashing with any forum rules. I may be slow but I'm not dead yet! Wayne
  8. Gidday Sorry, I pop on this forum occasionally but haven't been checking this thread. I'm not a regular on this forum and pretty busy at the moment. Metal has been working out a little more difficult than first thought, we are waiting for a new machine from overseas specially designed to shrink the metal and specific metal sheets shipped from interstate. Initial tests show in 43 degree heat at about 100km/hour the front and rear vents drop the bonnet temperature by 3-4 degrees. A bonnet with back vents only help when at low speeds in traffic but onces upto speed (80-100km/h) have limited cooling value as they suck air into the engine bay rather than out. When stationary the rear vents are very effective at cooling. The Person who did my testing has had limited success with other bonnets at dropping the temp and was very impress by initial results. I would need much more testing before the results are definative. Wayne
  9. I doubt many were sold as they had limited appeal. Not saying its a bad colour only that It's a very "unique" colour, very few dealers would touch it without having an order and decent deposit. Wayne

  11. Bummer, The problem is if you don't rebuild it what would you go to? May have been a dud.
  12. Checked in today - The building of moulds is underway but will take until some time next week to develop the first half of the moulds. It would be possible to develop the vent kits in Fibreglass but the steel versions should work with steel or fibreglass and it will probably work out cheaper to develop in steel for the kit.
  13. Still working out what I'm doing but thinking to sell * Back vents as Kit * Bonnet with only backvents (Preferrably on an exchange basis) I'm also working of 2 designs for the front vents. Longer term to have * Vent kit - which could be fitted to any steel or fibreglass bonnet. * Bonnet with back vents only - Only for flat bonnet ( Can fit kit if bonnet supplied) * Bonnent with my front intake and back vents * Bonnet with dual intake and back vents. Back to driving with my stock bonnet while moulds are taken from my bonnet.
  14. Just a Quick shot of under my bonnet - please ignore reflections. There are 2 large holes where the water run off comes out. In a production bonnet they would be much smaller about a 3-4mm hole.
  15. No I'll do one this weekend. Basically the existing bonnet liner has be put back in with shaped flat plates around the cutouts to ensure the air flow doesn't get underneath it. Wayne
  16. The bonnet has been on only a couple of weeks and in Canberra a few days. I've just returned from school holidays so my car was just in for a service.
  17. Still looking into options and costs but it's highly likely * May sell back vents as a kit - should be alot cheaper * May sell/exchange full bonnets with only back vents still investigating costs and work involved. Wayne
  18. It could be considered, not sure of cost, and not sure how effective it would be. If it isn't welded into the bonnet it wouldnt be a smooth line so They couldn't be sold as plug-ins unless you glue them in which isn't alway successful and will leave a ridge. I will look into cost of a bonnet with just the back units - should be a fair bit cheaper (I think). If bonnets are RRP $1800 then even with a bulk buy they would be too expensive I would expect the V8 Frame to be different to the 6 bonnet frame, but without looking at one couldn't tell. It couldn't be fitted to a fibreglass model. If somebody has an original bonnet I would consider looking into it but it could be a painful process.
  19. The Motor is designed to have some water go in through the front grill in the rain or car wash. If you pressure wash the car water will go in throught the vents. I have made some plastic cover for the vents but haven't bothered using them when washing the car yet. The vents at the back do have drip trays which run down under the liner and run out in the gap between the motor and fan. I haven't been under the car in the rain to test it yet but I believe it will work. The Front vent doesn't have a drip tray but will only let rain in like the front grill when driving. You can get more bugs into the engine bay through the front vent. I'm having my car bra modified so that it will allow air but trap bugs.
  20. A lot of thought has gone into the design to make it appealing (to atleast me). * A V8 bulge bonnet is too expensive to build from. * The bonnet has been designed to maintain the structural integrity of the bonnet and to have the clearance need for most motor modifications. * My preferred medium at the moment is Steel, I may consider Fibreglass later. * Each bonnet would be build from an Original Ford Bonnet * Each bonnet would be individually custom cut and finished * My present bonnet has cost well over $2k and inorder to turn out these bonnets at $2000 would cost in excess of another $10,000 investment. * I'm still investigating costs however at $2,000 it would take a fair number of bonnets to cover costs. * Why am I considering doing it - To control my Design to ensure any copies made are a reasonable quality. - If my Bonnet is damaged I would like to be able to replace it. * I'm not really interested in changing the design however comments will be considered and grills could be easily changed or painted.
  21. The way I'm considering creating these is to buy a standard Ford steel bonnet and cut and shape them. Due to the weakness in the standard bonnet it needs a fair bit of work strengthening. I wouldn't do it myself as I don't have tools needed and given the thinness of metals involved wouldn't have the skills to prepare it myself. The back vents fit within the existing frame. The bonnet is slightly heavier at the front but the overall weight doesn't really change and it doesn't seem to effect the struts. Because standard ford bonnets aren't too dear the cost of shipping bonnets to me and the risk of damage in transit make the option of exchange bonnets a bit to much effort for the savings.
  22. Just considering this version without a bulge. I Can mod a steel bonnet but not fibreglass. Using a steel v8 bonnet would add over $800 to the cost because I would be sourcing the original bonnets from Mr Ford. I could look at doing the complete bonnet in Fibreglass but each style has a large cost to mould and the fibreglass needs to be strong enough to support the large front opening. Wayne
  23. No I wouldn't build it myself, but I do have access to a very good metal fabrication expert.
  24. I was looking for a simple form, with 6 vents I think it would effect air flow and may weaken the bonnet significantly as well as add a fair bit to the cost. Even 4 may be an issue.
  25. I'm not a company, I own the design, If there is enough interest I will get them manufactured if not no worries I'm happy with mine. There is a new "Aggressor Bonnet" with gills up both sides if that's what your looking for. The Front grill forces the air into the engine bay and forces some out the 2 vents, it definately does reduce heat under the bonnet.
