  1. Have you installed your dual intake yet?
  2. Well this topic has gone on a slight tangent.
  3. Oh I don't think I want any of them to be answered! Haha
  4. I have so many questions haha
  5. The smaller cooler and fan/thermostat from Aeroflow is not available for a few months. Looking at this but it might be a bit big to fit in that gap in the trans trunnel? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Aeroflow-AF72-6001-13-5-X-9-Comp-Transmission-Oil-Cooler-120w-Fan-Switch-10AN/132381548219?epid=8034416803&hash=item1ed28e1ebb:g:ebkAAOSw4DJYkV6o
  6. Hi Aaron. Couple of questions. That mounting bracket you've used, what and where is that from? It looks like a great fit. And have you bolted it to the chassis rail one on side only? Or is there a bracket up top that we just can't see? And in the left of that pic (towards the front of the car) it looks like there is a notch cut out in something that's going straight up. Is that just camera trickery or what is that? Cheers! Hunt
  7. Doesn't look like that cooler will fit - 34x23cm is just a bit too big. How did you build your bracket? And where have you mounted it to? Have you mounted it to the chassis rail only? Or is there also a fixture point above the cooler that I can't see from the pics? Cheers! Hunt
  8. Ah - oops I misread your item description. Not sure how I missed that! It appears the only difference between the Derale 25782 and 15782 is the addition of the 2 barbed fittings on the 15782 kit. Yeah the cooler is a bit bigger than the one you're using. I'll get under the car and take some measurements this weekend to see if such a thing will fit in the same spot like you've done as that looks like a great place - out of the way and short oil lines! Rubber mount the cooler? How come? Because of the fan vibration/noise or? Cheers Hunt
  9. It doesn't have a bypass thermostat. It has a fan controller thermostat. The one I posted has a bypass thermostat which allows the oil to bypass the cooler to heat the oil faster.
  10. Hi Aaron, In the process of deciding on and ordering the cooler. Thinking of this style adapter: https://derale.com/product-footer/filtration/engine2013-10-28-09-53-27459934969/sandwich-adapters/standard-engine-spin-on-adapter-with-1-2-npt-ports-22x1-5mm-filter-thread-detail I like it as it has a built in thermostat to allow faster heating up of the oil and better temp control when it's at lower temps? And for the cooler I'm looking at this one. Seems to be much of the same same: https://www.aeroflowperformance.com/af72-6000-13-5-x-9-comp-trans-cooler Should do the job?
  11. Brilliant - thanks heaps for that.
  12. Woah those Derale coolers are pricey! I like the idea of a thermostatic fluid control/bypass to allow the oil to get to temp fast.
  13. Haha this isn't roadkill! I think I'll look into mounting both on either side of the trans tunnel, if there's room. Slightly off topic, but, engine oil cooler running off an oil filter adapter and an inline thermostat - any recommendations? Or will an eBay one be ok?
  14. Thanks Aaron. Interesting location. Not sure my cooler would fit in that gap but I will definitely measure it and see! I do need an engine oil cooler as well (getting over temp errors on tack), so either engine oil cooler in the same spot as you suggested and leave trans cooler where it is under the headlight and look into venting it. OR Run a cooler on each side of the trans tunnel, but this means that one of the pairs of hoses will have to cross the trans tunnel to reach the cooler.
  15. Great idea. No room up front with my intercooler. Where would you suggest?
  16. Have you cut slots or anything in the inner guard to allow the hot air to evacuate? I was thinking of cutting a big hole in the inner guard and bolting a metal vent/grille so the cooler is protected from stones and debris but still able to be vented. I did look at pulling the spotlight out but wasn't sure on how its done. Is it something that can be done from underneath with just the bottom tray removed or do you need to take bumper off to do that? Cheers Hunt
  17. I think on a commute on a warm (over 20C) day with stop/start driving plus some 50-60km stuff, it will get to 85-90C or so, but then the fan kicks in and keeps it in check. It was just at the track there wasn't any airflow to or away from the fan/cooler so the cooler was sitting in a hot box and couldn't evacuate the hot air. With the undertray in place and all the other plastic covers etc - it's pretty sealed in there. Yeah I'm thinking the 105/106C I saw was not what caused it to go into limp mode, and it was probably the engine oil overheating that caused it. Which seems crazy that it happened so fast - 5 minutes on the track is all I would get without having to do a cool down lap or two.
  18. Great write up! I have done something similar but am getting up to 106C on the track and the car goes into limp mode until things cool down. I assume it's the trans temp that's causing it to go to limp mode. Although at one point I also got an engine oil temp code. Have you thought about putting a louvre style vent in the inner guard to help evacuate the hot air? I haven't done that and my inner guard is super hot at the track.
  19. How long is a piece of string. Depends on their offset as well as overall width. I'm running 245/35R20 on my FGX on an 8 inch rim and they could with 255 or maybe even 265.
  20. So now I'm undecided. I can only afford to get 2 tyres before my track day. I have 2 with half tread on the car at the moment and 2 that need to be replaced. Do I put brand new tyres on the front and put the lesser quality half worn ones on the rear, or the other way around? Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk
  21. Ok thanks. I'll stick with 245's then. Thinking of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Anyone know if these are accurate width wise? You'd hope so for their cost!
  22. Thanks. Got it working. Any suggestions on a vent/louvre for the inner guard to vent the fans hot air when you mount the trans cooler under the drivers headlight, inside the bumper space? Bunnings has a crap selection.
  23. That's what I thought. Inside the rim it says 8x20" though. I wonder if the cheap tyres that are on it are not really 245's as they say they are. Cavallis. Heard of them on a car? Nope. Me neither haha. They were on the car when I got it.
  24. Hi all. I have 8x20" rims and have 245/35 tyres round. I am about to buy some new fronts tires and will probably just get the same size again, but for the rears, I wonder if I can go wider on the current 8" rims? The current set looks slightly streteched at the moment to me. But maybe I don't know what I'm talking about?
  25. This is the settings for the PID Are these wrong?
