A tuned n/a Barra with headers and intake and a few other basic bolt ons, will make almost 200rwkw Nothing to snigger at and with the ZF it will go alright, but, barely more than a stock old V8 commy.

15 seconds is people mover slow. You're mate is full of s*** if he thinks he can beat anything post 1983
  3. That's a lot of power from the stock turbo, or a happy dyno!
  4. Baby turbo will limit you at around 300rwkw, reliably. You can make up to 320-330rwkw on 98 pump fuel with baby turbo but that is ringing the balls of it and it'll go pop soon. 290-300rwkw is what to expect from your mods. On 98. Reliably.
  5. Good to hear you found it! You can test lower by jacking car up so the wheel is just off the ground and put a pry bar under tyre and lever it up/down and see if it moves
  6. Wait hang on - so you get rubbing noises and you can feel them, when moving in a straight line without turning the wheel? Put the car on some ramps (or a 4 post hoist if you can) so the suspension is compressed, and have a look to see what's rubbing. You may even be able to park it with 2 wheels on the curb and 2 on the road
  7. How much lock are you having to put on before the rubbing starts? Hard lock, or just driving around a corner or?
  8. Hi all, I'm about to move back to NZ and taking my car with me. I haven't insured a car there for a while. I did used to use NAC for my heavily modified Supra - but that was only 3rd party - not comprehensive. Has anyone got any experience with insuring an mildly modified Falcon in NZ? No major mods - just the usual base stuff, venom cat, intercooler, turbo side intake and battery relo, trans cooler and ecu/pcm tune. No external gates etc. These mods are all 'wof-able' in NZ. Cheers! Hunt
  9. What did the tuner say after you took it back to them? Did they turn you away?
  10. First thing I'd do is get a long screwdriver or other such device, touch the metal end to various points on the engine and hold the handle to your ear. BE CAREFUL OF PULLEYS AND BELTS AND MOVING PARTS!!! NO LOOSE CLOTHING OR HAIR!!! This should help you pin-point where exactly the noise is coming from.
  11. I never had much luck taking off in 2nd! Oh they are so much fun man! I was surprised how well I was able to get it to hook in 1st gear once boost came in on 'cheap' 245's with a terrible 1.9 second 60' - ran a 12.9. That was stock and pre-tune so no launch control - just holding on stall converter at about 2,00rpm. Really would love to see what sort of a time a faster 60' will do, and having an extra 130-ish rwkw from stock (now 350rwkw). Would like to think an 11 second pass is easily achievable...
  12. The IMS hat-trick is a good solution but yeah it is pretty pricey. Going to something like the SuperPro bushes, will that eliminate the 'BANG' from the rear if you lift off after a head torque load? I.e. hard acceleration in 2nd or 3rd and then lift off suddenly. I too would rather not twist my tailshaft. What sort of RPM and boost would be safe to launch on the track while running 245 'street' tyres that are not slicks? I want to get my 60' down but would like to drive home haha
  13. Howdy, 382rwkw on 15psi!? Nice work - what turbo? The thud in the back is the diff bushings. Stock they are too soft so allow the diff to bang around inside the bush. They wear out and really should be replaced with something better. There's loads of info around about diff bushes. Mine were done about 20km's ago and really need to be done again I think as I hate that sound. Something that will break the driveline, is doing a big kickdown pull, I.e. flooring it and letting it kick down to second or even third. The torque load up when this happens is huge and without being able to spin, something will likely break.
  14. I have not! Do they sell at the pump or barrel?
  15. Haha no. It's the 4 in 1. Boost, AFR/Lambda, fuel temp and ethanol % Yeah. I seriously doubt the United I go to has 86% E85. I guess the ~79% showing on the flex fuel sensor is accurate and my measuring is not [emoji1787]
  16. Ok so 15ml of water, 45ml fuel. I get a separation line at the 54ml mark. According to the below calculator that is 86% which I don't believe. My flex fuel sensor suggests around 79-80% from that station. http://hagensdiy.blogspot.com/2012/04/diy-ethanol-content-tester.html?m=1 Hmmm tried again with 70ml fuel and 25ml water. Separation line at 85ml. According to the above calculator that's 86% still.
  17. That won't really change anything. It's just a different sized vessel with some branding on it. The concept is exactly the same. The issue above is not with calculating the ethanol % (that's pretty easy to do). Just wondering if I shook it for too long? Or not long enough? Or maybe I need to leave it for longer? It just felt weird standing around a petrol station forecourt to 10 minutes staring at a glass tube so I called it quits. I think the Indian bloke behind the counter thought I was making a bomb haha
  18. Ok I must be doing something wrong. I put 100ml E85 in a graduated cylinder. Then I put 20ml water in. Shook it up for about 30 seconds. Waited almost 10 minutes and all that separated out was as below. Hmmmm. What did I do wrong?
  19. I came across E85 105 the other day. Not 'race blend'. Wonder what the difference is?
  20. Lol - it's the future! Dam! That's amazing. United or?
  21. Yes. As it absorbs moisture the ethanol % reading will go down. Weather or not having water in the fuel actually changes how the fuel performs, I do not know. United only guarantee over 70% for their E85 apparently.
  22. Hmmm. I hope it's not the measuring device. It's a brand new Innovate Motorsports one. I've got some graduated glass cylinders so I'll do some testing of my local United.
  23. Hi all. Having trouble finding E85 that's over about 78% Ethanol from United. Does anyone have any experience in some decent stuff? I haven't tried Just Fuels in Sunshine yet. Cheers Hunt
  24. Hi. Is this flex plate to torque converter or flex plate to crank?
  25. Could be coils packing up.
