    I6 To Stay?

http://www.caradvice.com.au/19063/ford-eng...eelong-to-stay/ Seems a little quiet here on this news, or am I the last to find out?
  2. Hi all, This morning as I left for work I noticed the old gear symbol (P/R/N/D/etc) flashing at me and the box wasn't changing up or down.. appeared to be stuck in one gear in some sort of limp mode.... Stopped the car at the end of the road, turned it off for a few seconds. Turned back on and away she went, no further problem for the rest of the 60+k drive to work ... Its an '06 BF XR6T with the ZF box. Just on 50k's and had its 45k service a few weeks back where they (Ford) serviced the auto. Just took it back up to the dealer, they said that as long as its driving sweet and the problem went away when I restarted (reset) that I should just keep an eye on it. If it does it again to take it back. Hmmmm... Any ideas / recommendations?
  3. These are the standard 18" BF/BF2 XR8 rims. I had them added as an option on my BF when I got it 18 months ago, cost NZ$2k to upgrade at the time. Recently (a couple of months back) they added those darkened highlights to the wheels. I'm sure there will be plenty of these wheels floating around, and a wheel shop should be able to darken the inside curve of each "spoke" if you can only find the plain standard ones....
  4. What astounds me is the prices you guys in Australia pay for second hand XR6T's. A few of us at work have had XR6T's and they are slowly coming up for renewal. Company policy is dump them at auction and choose whatever you want as a replacement. A colleague in the middle of last year decided to opt out of the company car scheme so threw his 18 month old (BA2) XR6T, black, 25k's, lux, tints, back to the company who put it in at Turners Car Auctions (NZ's car auction specialists) and it sold for NZ$27,600 (Au$23,700). Admittedly that is wholesale, but they are coming up all the time here now, especially with the way fuel prices are going..... When I hand mine back this time next year at 100k's it'll probably go for well under NZ$20k....
  5. When are we going to start seeing some spyshots popping up? If ford are so far down the track with the new car, why haven't we seen any photos of heavily disguised mules?
  6. I'm on the other side of the Tasman, local dealer is John Andrew Ford here in Auckland. They are total rip off artists, stung me for a $1800 service a couple of years ago on my AU XR6 I had at the time.... (don't ask, I've buried that experience) This one is a company car, hence needs to go back to the dealer. They pay anyway, so this time round I don't care if they overcharge.... Why do they detune? Is it so we tenderly run the car in? ah ha ha ha
  7. Hi all, I'm a newish member of 5 months or so now since I took delivery of my BF Bionic in August. What a car eh? I would never have believed you could break traction going up hill (!!) in a rear wheel drive, by burying your foot to overtake at 50kph... Anyway, back to the topic... I have the 15k service due probably late next month, and my boss (who has a BA2 XR6T) tells me he noticed a huge diffence after the local Ford dealer waived his wand over his car at 15k's. Are these detuned to any extent for the run-in period? And what should I tell the local (overcharging) Ford dealer to do and check on apart from the textbook manual 15k service requirements? Appreciate your advice on this. Cheers! ________________________________________ BF Bionic ZF auto, Factory 18's, Tints, lux pack.
  8. Make it one more newbie to this thread. I take delivery of a new bionic XR6T in 2 weeks, with 18"'s, lux pack and tints. Sold my AU XR6 VCT manual last week, am going to miss her, but can't wait for the new one. It's a company car so no aftermarket enhancements for me. Though the fuel card will make up for it. I can't wait!!!!!!!
