  1. ah sweet! I was getting concerned as I have read the same negative feed back! I actually spoke to Scott from Scotts Rods (ebay seller of the xforce) and he reckons he can't tell the difference between the sound of a stainless or mild steel system. I guess its just the mufflers and stuff that make a difference. I also read that they hang rather low off the car. Have you noticed this? Cheers
  2. Good stuff mate! Bet its an animal to drive now I will have pretty much the same mods sorted in the next couple of weeks, though mine being a BA I won't expect as much power. 270wkw is fun to drive so I'd imagine anything over 300 will be awsum! What do you think of the exhaust? Cheers Sean
  3. Well I'm bailing out on the idea atm. The bags are coming out tomorrow and I'm getting all the leafs put back in with an added extra one to help stiffin the rear end a bit. I'll get it out on the track and then make adjustments as I need to ie. sway bars, tramp rods etc Will miss the bags though cos it looks so good when its slammed! It seems to do a 4 link properly is pretty exy and I'm not even sure now that it will suit what I'm after anyway after talking to another suspension shop. Money better spent elsewhere Cheers for the feed back Sean
  4. Do you have any links with more info on this set up?
  5. Well thanks for all the feed back so far! I probably have confused it a little by mentioning that there are LS1s with 9" 4 links. The 'ball park' would have been to use the factory diff etc. but by the sounds of it it is probably still a little on the cheap side. A 9" would definately be the more desired option, especially if making big power. However, at this stage I'm only really aiming for around the 350KW give or take. I'm more interested in being able to adjust the rear end for drift days etc, so in this case is a 4 link overkill anyway? I have looked at the new pedders extreme coilovers which have adjustable shocks for the rear. Additional to this however I would need to add a sway bar, tramp kit, reset springs again (I have bags in the rear atm) etc and going on the 'ball park' I would be half way to a 4 link, which seems more attractive. I would rather go straight to a 4 link set up if I may end up there eventually anyway! So I guess this is why I have asked the question as I'm not an 'expert' and appreciate all the feed back from the people who know.........you guys!
  6. I think a 4 link set up would be easier? I've heard that there are a few LS1s that are making big Hp with 4 link and 9" diff conversions, so I would think that it must be a better way to go than IRS? It wasnt so much as a quote, more a 'ball park' figure . There were a couple of older school cars up on hoists which he showed me and the set ups looked very tidy. I am reasonbly keen to go down this path, that's why I have posted this topic to get as much info as I can, so that I can make an educated decision and get some proper pricing. The 'ball park' figure was $2500 plus the cost of the coilovers, so probably $4500 to $5000 all up I'd say. But in saying that, I take the price with a grain of salt until its on paper! So what should I be looking at to have a good set up? Any more info on the set up? I have searched google a few times but nothing really comes up. I remember reading a post somewhere about Nizpros ute having 4 link but there wasnt much info on it. I think he did a GTR rear conversion or something now?
  7. Hi guys, Just curious if anyone has considered or infact done a 4 link conversion on their ute? Did Simon from Nizpro have this set up at one stage? I have had a rough quote given to do it, just wondering on opinions?????? I won't be doing it in the near future, as I'm concentrating on power at this stage but it is something that I may consider later down the track. Load rating etc doesnt bother me as I want to set the car up more for track days and drifting etc, so having coilovers would be much more advantages over the standed leafs imo (but as I'm no expert I would like to hear others opinions) cheers Sean
  8. Thought that would be the case, cheers
  9. Would a Mal option 3 be any good for say.....drifting?
  10. So does yours sit centre again?
  11. Yeah that's about where mine sits as well. It sh*ts me everytime I look at it! I've looked at lots of other utes and they all sit off centre to the guard, but I think when you lower them it becomes more noticeable. You'd think that they could have made the guard centered to the wheel
  12. haha, yer they are my old 19's that were on the ute! the hiace is going now though, just bought a new Vito um 26" I think, Lol! haha, not sure man as requested: and how it used to look when it was my number one work horse!
  13. have you got any pics of how the wheels sit in relation to the guard? I've noticed that my rears sit well forward in the gaurd rather than centered, but I just thought that it was how they all are???? cheers sean
  14. sounds like a coil mate. I had the same problem and it was a dodgy coil. cheers sean
  15. heres a pic of the beast for anyone that's interested
  16. haha, there's always someone who wants to nit pick! mate I bought my car new in 05, had been browsing through the forum a little before that. I didnt officially join until mid 06 when I started to get more interested in mods to the car, blah blah, it doesnt really matter huh, point is this is a great forum no matter how long I've been here! officially or non officially! cheers sean
  17. Hey guys, all sorted. had the mechanic come over on tues night and we pulled the pump out and sure enough it was 'seized'. Picked up a new one tonight (free of charge of course) and installed it............and its all good again! Went for a strap, damn these things are good with a litlle bit of tuning haha! thanks for the responses! This forum is a gold mine of information, even though I post very little I have been floating around reading them for the past 4 years and have learnt so much! Cheers again! .............now for some more mods Cheers Sean
  18. Yeah thought it could be heard on start up. I would think that the right hose has been used as it is a reputable workshop. atm I'm thinking that it is either a faulty pump or as ratter said, a bad connection in the wiring somewhere. I'll let you guys know when its sorted. Lucky its not my daily! Cheers Sean
  19. Oh btw, I've towed the car home, it will not start at all.............just in case you thought it was a temperamental prob.
  20. Hi guys thanks for the quick replies. Judd, I had a workshop do the work so I'm not too sure exactly what they have done when installing. Senna, The workshop supplied and fitted the pump. I was going to buy a pump myself, but decided to let them supply it to hopefully avoid something like this happening as I've heard theres a few non genuine pumps going around. I could have purchased one $80 or so cheaper but thought the warranty from the workshop was worth more! ETM, yeah my gut feeling is that there is no fuel getting to the engine. I have taken the tub out and was going to do some investigating, but dont have the time atm. I reckon its the pump though, only because I can't hear it priming up or anything when I turn on the ignition..............just not sure if I'm imagining hearing it before? Cheers Sean
  21. So.........I should be here writing about how I've just had new seimens injectors, a walbro and valve springs installed and now running 270rwkw and its sweeeeet! Well it was for two days however today while cruising over to a mates house (and just cruising I was) my car decided to just die out of no where. I pulled to the side of the road and tried to start it again, no go! Now, I had let the fuel get lowish, the trip meter said I had 75km left......hang on maybe the new pump is sitting a little higher and there is no fuel getting to the pick up. So after getting some more fuel in a jerry and going back and filling up I tried to start it again. Bingo straight away it started, idled for 5 seconds then died again. hmmmmm tried to get it to start again for the next 5 mins but no go The question I now would like to ask is - when I turn the ignition on, shouldnt I be able to hear the fuel pump whining, ready to start? I can't actually hear the pump at all, though when I first got the ute back I noticed that the walbro seemed noisier than the factory item. I will ring the workshop who installed it tomorrow, but would like to know if my thinking is along the right lines. btw. I have checked the fuel pump relay etc with my multi meter and it is fine so I can assume that power should be getting to the fuel pump. any suggestions would be great cheers Sean
  22. Hey there yellowturbo, what did you end up deciding on? I'm pretty well in the same mind frame atm
  23. As the name suggests......................
  24. Well I dont exactly have a new car but it certainly feels like it! I finally got around to taking the canopy and drawers off the ute over the long weekend. I reckon there was about 150kg between the both of them! I have also sorted out the capa flash tuner now and am running the 8 PSI generic tune at the moment. So between that and the loss of 150kg the ute is feeling like a totally different car and I'm loving it! Ok, now for a couple of q's. I want to get a custom tune but want to get some bits and pieces before hand. I'm not chasing huge power at the moment, but then again.............. So I was thinking maybe just a cooler and intake at the moment. My delemma begins here. I was thinking about just getting the Monza cooler and an SS CAI and maybe the phoon intake as well, but I love the look of Rapids kit! I know they are totally different but what I want to know is what would the benefits be if I go in the direction of the rapid kit. Also should I look at getting injectors and valve springs at the same time? I know that the more done at once is better. what kind of power would you expect at the wheels with those three mods and have I missed anything that I should be doing with these mods. Sorry about the long post. here's a couple of pics! Cheers Sean
  25. hmm, that's interesting! I think that there has been a few dodgy boxes getting out there, Jeff indicated that there had been a problem with a few boxes that had been sent out. I have decided to flash my car back to stock for the time being, as it was mis-firing pretty bad when the boost was coming on strong, which is obviously not cool! It feels so slow now, Lol! Because I cant load up the 8 PSI tune, I will be sending the box back to be fixed, but I will wait to get a custom tune just for peace of mind. Cheers Sean
