  1. Sweet did it through Vimeo. Looks to have worked. Let me know what you think. Just took for a spin and once it’s warmed up the sound is all dependent on throttle use I.e. quiet during gear changes (manual car) then is really loud when you get back on the gas...
  2. Hi guys my Ute (FG MKII XR6 Turbo) has developed a really concerning noise. Haven’t been able to work out exactly where it’s coming from but suspect around turbo or downpipe or cat area. Made this short video to see if anyone can help? It gets really loud under throttle and quite loud at cold idle but gets quieter as car warms up. I did bottom out the car car a little while ago on an unknown road but not sure if that’s got anything to do with it as no visible damage under there. Any help much appreciated. Actually... how do I upload this video?
  3. I haven’t specifically looked at this... I’ve just been kind of putting up with how it drives because I’m lazy but I’d love to get to the bottom of it without forking our for a workshop visit. Ok, So I’ll have a look at the rear housing of the turbo and tighten up bolts there too.

  5. Ok so I guess I just have to live with getting fluid everywhere at least until I get a remote bleed line setup .. is that necessarily bad for the car if I get fluid in the bellhousing or just messy and annoying?
  6. So is there any benefit in just extracting all the fluid from the reservoir with a syringe or whatever and putting in new fluid?

  10. Hi guys want to bleed my clutch and run some new fluid on the weekend. Anyone know what size plastic tubing I need to fit nicely over the bleeder so I don’t end up with fluid in the bellhousing? (fg MKII Tr6060 standard clutch). Thanks.

  13. Thanks guys didn’t have the right size Spanner/socket handy so ended up going through the shifter. Bit of practice for when I put a short shifter in anyway. I tried the jack one side right up but found I still couldn’t get the full 4.85 in without spilling out the fill hole. All good now, have some fresh Penrite full synth 70-75w pro gear in and it has quitened the box right down. Hopefully cold shifts a bit better now too. Did the diff oil while I was down there too... black and stinky don’t know how the thing was still spinning!
  14. Anyone know what size ring Spanner/socket is required to get the reverse switch nut off once the wiring is removed?
  15. So I did the fuel filter, air filter and engine oil and filter. Gave the throttle body a clean too. Have tightened all the turbo to manifold bolts. Still behaving weirdly... it only seems to drive really well for the first 10 minutes after leaving work and sluggish all other times. Just don’t get how it could perform so well one minute and not the next...

  17. Ok yeah have been meaning to do fuel filter for a while. Easy job or an absolute pain in the ass that involves replacing fuel lines like in the old au? im in outer eastern suburbs Melbourne. Would love to hear some recommendations for a mechanic who knows their way around the FG turbos. Cheers.

  19. 85,000 kms on her. Idle seems ok, sometimes hunts a little when pull up at the lights - as in revs will drop quite low for a second or two and then go back to normal. I think the turbo is probably ok as when it’s boosting right it really hauls arse. Thanks Ill have ave a good look over the piping too. And also make sure I tightened the 4 bolts going from the turbo to the manifold... although I’m fairly certain I’ve done them already.
  20. Hmmm... re torqued the manifold bolts on the weekend and doesn’t seemed to have had any effect. Most were fine anyway, only one a little loose. Turbo fasteners I didn’t touch though... which ones specifically? Do these cars go into limp mode I.e. if something is detected will the ecu limit the boost to low or none...
  21. Hi guys. Recently purchased a manual 2012 FG MK II XR6T Ute and have a few queries... to me me it seems like first thing in the morning and on the way into work the car runs a little sluggish almost like there is little to no boost and yet when I start it up in the afternoon to come home for the first couple of minutes it seems to drive really nicely, boost builds quickly and comes on strong. But it only seems to drive like this for a few minutes before going back to feeling sluggish. I dont Int have a boost gauge fitted so I’m just going on feel but the difference is really noticeable. The car is stock as a rock as far as I know so just wondering if anyone knows what could be going on or where I could start to see what’s going on... thanks in advance.
