  1. Did a bit of a search... turbo removal doesn’t sound too difficult. Although I’ve literally just done an oil and filter change so not keen on changing the oil again!
  2. I wish... bike build taking up all the funds at the moment. When she is running spot on its plenty quick in stock form... for now anyway! if I were to have another look at this leak on the weekend and wanted to take the turbo off to free up some space is there much to it? Simply a matter of unbolting everything?
  3. Ok I might get another chance to investigate on the weekend so will check that too. Went past my exhaust guy this arvo and he had a quick listen with his stethoscope and confirmed around the turbo/dump area, but I already knew that! Said he will have to do some dismantling to find it and car was too hot to work on so will have to drop it off one night next week so he can look at it the next day. It continues...
  4. Ha ha. It’s booked in for an exhaust inspection tomorrow arvo as I’ve run out of time to try and fix it myself. So hopefully will have an answer for you tomorrow night. No doubt will be something obvious I have missed! Looking forward to getting to the bottom of it, sounds like an old tractor at the moment.
  5. Yeah fair enough. I’m hoping they do find a lose bolt or bolts somewhere as I have been having some issues with lack of boost down low and hopefully this is the cause.... will keep you updated. Cheers.
  6. All good mate if no one is too excited by the prospect I will go past an exhaust shop on way home tomorrow.
  7. Yeah someone who knows these cars well I’m sure would find it pretty quickly... I’m in Melbourne, outer eastern suburbs but working in Kew at the moment so happy to drop by anyone’s place if they would be interested in taking a look... Metrinch hey... ok will check them out. Not really sure this is where the leak is coming from though so inclined to leave them until they come lose.
  8. Alright so I had another go after purchasing some 14mm spanners and socket joints etc. someone has damaged the f$&k out of the four turbo to manifold nuts so I can’t actually move them either way, but to be honest they seem pretty damn tight and not loose enough to be causing this leak and god awful noise. Officially at a loss as to where the leak is now ? http://s345.photobucket.com/user/Soindrift69/media/4B87211E-C4DF-4323-BFE5-D0C66072DECD_zpsofoflpq9.jpeg.html?filters[user]=147109463&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=8
  9. Ha not to worry. Seems to be something everyone needs to do pretty often so if the next person to do it wouldn’t mind putting up some description and pics or even a video of the process would be great. Cheers
  10. Would be amazing if someone were to post a how to video/picture article on how to get to all these fasteners as it seems to be a common issue across all turbo models and would be very valuable for noob mechanics like myself!
  11. Now that’s what I like to see!!! Might have to try something similar ?
  12. Ok thanks again Puffwagon. Are you in an FG? How often are you finding you have to tighten them? I can live with doing it every oil change (7500kms) but any more often than that and I may look to another fix.
  13. Ok thanks.
  14. Yeah fair enough... don’t have a wobble bar but might pick one up during the week and hopefully I can get to it. Do do you remember are they 13mm?
  15. Actually just by pure accident I was degreasing and sprayed a little water down there to get it off and upon starting motor again noticed some bubbles coming up here (I guess that is the turbo to manifold connection - the one with the 4 bolts and exposed thread at the end). So I’m thinking this must be the issue. Any advice on how to get to that front right bottom fastener - even if I can get a spanner in there there is zero room to swing it... http://s345.photobucket.com/user/Soindrift69/media/7FB94A7B-A3CC-4C29-B6D7-64F093FE79AA_zpsuptuxmpi.jpeg.html?filters[user]=147109463&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0
  16. No worries will do. Thanks so much for all your help.
  17. All good. Sorry total noob with all this. Have a photobucket account now so have put that link in. Its almost beaten me now... might have to take it to someone who knows what they’re doing. Would have thought the problem would be pretty obvious with this shocking noise but it’s actually hard to determine exactly where it’s coming from... somewhere between turbo, dump and cat is all I can decipher
  18. Feels it yeah. Is it just me or does this gap look big where the dump meets the cat? I can’t upload the picture because apparently it’s too big. F$&k me! http://s345.photobucket.com/user/Soindrift69/library/
  19. Really don’t get this now... done all these bolts. None were loose either.
  20. So these 2 and the 2 underneath? if so already done em and the noise still there...
  21. Ok thanks again will have a look when it’s light again. Cheers.
  22. Any pictures so I know exactly which ones to do? I’ve got a vague idea but pretty sure I’ve done those already.
  23. Ok... have just been out and taken the heat shields off again (front one was a *beep* so much sh*t in the way!!!). Anyway this is what I’m looking at. I’ve tightened the 10 bolts (5 top and 5 bottom) along where I’ve taken these photos. My understanding is that this is where the exhaust manifold meets the motor??? Am I right? I have a feeling it might be the turbo to dump pipe fasteners where the issue is... how do I get access to that? From below? Any pics would be useful as. Thanks again.
  24. Ok... so what’s going on then? Just loose fasteners?
  25. Ok thanks for the reply. Have seen a few other videos with very similar noise so looks like you’ve hit the nail on the head. I thought I had tightened all these fasteners but possibly I’m not doing the right ones... I don’t suppose anyone has photos or diagram of exactly where these are located? if the gasket has blown out is replacement in the realms of a hack mechanic like myself? Happy to have a go at anything and have a few tools...
