Ive been quoted $420 per disc for the fronts on my BA with Fords factory perf brake package. Parts Boys here in Adelaide are telling me they sell a lot of RDA discs and you are just paying for the name on DBA's? RDAs are about $300 per disc. I see theres several brake topics already, asking "what rotors etc should I use" But I have FPV brakes and suspension on my BA Xr6T, Im just unsure if everything that's recommended for a standard XR6T will fit/work with my car? The DBA4000's get recommended a lot, they will work for me? Or should I go for the standard Ford discs?

But they havent even seen the discs, they said they just do it regardless.

Also is it necessary to always machine the discs when replacing the pads? that's what I was told by ABS, who are doing the pad change for me. Ive changed pads on most of my cars myself over the years and have never bothered to do this.. The guy said the small grooves etc left in the disc require the new pads to bed in and this uneven pressure on the disc for a time can hurt the disc. Sounds logical but is it necessary?

I was told I have FPV brakes on my T when I bought it, Im about to get the pads changed and need to know as Im going to try and supply RB74 pads. I could take a pic of the calipers through the wheel if that helps? Front calipers are black with ford and PBR logos, rears have a lucas pad with this number on the back GDB7632. Rotors are slotted. What should I order? Sory if this is the wrong subforum, feel free to move the topic.

So by that, are you of the opinion that when running an engine in "flogging" it somehow enables extra horses because of some mystery cylinder wall wear pattern or something? Ive heard that idea thrown around several times before but I really cant logically believe it myself. Or did you mean something else? I doubt the ECU can adapt itself that much to vigorus driving to make a difference?

I Gtech'd my new XR6T yesterday and got 5.47 5.55 and 5.6 0-60MPH times. (gtech is an accelerometer for those that dont know, not deadly accurate but should be within .15 or so) Now this car is ex NSW police and has 70000 ks, has FPV suspension and brakes. Im wondering if theres some sort of stealth factory "enhancements" done for the cops? Or perhaps the last owner did something. Im the 3rd owner. It has a BMC airfilter but otherwise appears stock. How could I tell if theres been a basic edit/tune been done? Id really rather it was stock for those last 700000.....

Well I got my car today, in very good nick, ex police, says "management" whatever that means. Fairly bad scuff front rh bottom corner on bumper bar, I already signed off at the trucking firm so I dont think they would be interested if I asked them about it... Im pretty happy with it so far, power is good once she gets off the line, handles and stops VERY well, must be the brake and suspension package. Intercooler, CAI a la xr8 box and tune will come when Im happy to void the warrantee.

What do you all think of buying a new T when theres a new model so close? Did you get a good deal on the car because of this, I hear the BF sales have really slowed. Yeah I was looking to do that, he was going to meet me at Sydney airport. But Ive decided against it, just too much time off work, Adelaide car express have quoted me $340 from Sydney to Adelaide, incl insurance. And they will pass on a bank cheque to the guy when he drops the car off at the depot. Will take 10-14 days though, Im not a very patient person so that's gonna be a long wait! Saves a few k's on the milage, which is already pretty high at 71000, and its cheaper this way than airfare, accommodation and fuel.

Well I did it! Offered 25500 and he took it. Subject to an inspection of course. RAA is doing that for me $239 bit steep (and they dont even do a compression test) The wheels on it are copies, he says they cost him about $2500. Seems like a good deal to me, what do you all think of the price? Lot of options but highish K's and no colour screen. Just gotta figure out if I fly over and drive back or get it trucked. If I do the trucking thing, how does one buy a car from someone interstate? Would escrow be advisable do you think? Only problem is it hasnt got premium sound which I really wanted... can the colour screen be retro fitted? I havent bought from interstate before but getting an RAA or similar inspection done and getting it trucked to SA is looking very tempting right now. Over a year of warrantee is appealing.

Does the edit have any effect on auto kickdown speed? And for that matter, firm up the upshifts? Can these boxes be "shift kitted" like a 904 or 727 tranny for example?

Ive driven 2 xrt's and both had nothing when you floor it from anything under 30kph. I have a mid 13 sec charger and if I floor that at any time I get instant power and wheelspin at lower speeds, I can do a nice enough burnout fron a standing start without touching the brake pedal at all. On a test drive I was doing about 40ks then floored it, first second nothing, second second kicks down gets ready, third second ok lets rock. I did this a few times and its always the same, didnt play with doing it in manual mode on the autos though. Is this a gearbox issue? Have any of you experienced instant power before? Can it be done in an XR6T? I know its not turbo lag but I was a little disappointed when I planted my foot.... Not dissing the car, Im still keen to get one, just wondering...

yeah Im sure those are the seats I saw in this car. And DOH! I was looking a month ago but not as keenly as I am now... Being in Adelaide I probably would have bought that.
