  2. Bloody hell, Looks like he broke the first rule of Car Washing 101 doing all that work out in the open sunshine. still can't argue with the finished product. cheers Peter
  3. Yes Steve, Was me again and unfortunately I still have not had me girl washed since the trip to Margret River earlier this week. Was great to get her out on the open road to stretch her legs but she is overdue for a scruib to get rid of all the bug splats. Give me something to do tomorrow cheers Peter
  4. In the middle of last year the BP refinery here in WA had a failure in the part of the plant that makes the only 98 RON fuel we can get over here (Ultimate) and for a couple of weeks I had to run my girl on 95 premium, even though she was tuned for 98. I put a bottle of Nulon Pro-Strength in for each tankful and did not have any detonation problems. Same for a mate that has a Modded WRX. After this I have started using their synthetic oil. I change her every 7500k I used to use Castrol but am happy with the Nulon 15-50 and it is about $20 a bottle cheaper. cheers Peter
  5. Steve, Either weekend would be fine by me. I would love the chance to take her out for another run through the hills. cheers Peter
  6. I would agree with most of the other replies and recommend you at least have a talk with Simon. He has taken my little girl and turned her into a real banshee bitch . Seriously, he not only does a good job but supplies excellent support and has been able to set her up just the way I wanted. One Warning, once you go down this track its a slippery slope and you will always want to go that one extra step cheers Peter
  7. Merry Christmas to the WA gang too. Like most I will be having the "family Day thing" on Christmas Day. Been having a bit of a bad run on the health side so it will be a quiet chrissy for me. Probably watch the MCG test and enjoy the lads sinking the boot into the Poms What I really want to do is take off up north and give me girl a real run, unfortunately that is going to have to wait a few weeks but boy am I looking forward to it Stay safe on the roads everyone and a special thanks to Steve for being the organiser of some great cruises in 06, look forward to doing more in 07. cheers Peter
  8. Well done to you and the partner Doc! Glad to hear that mum and Daniel are doing well, and who would have thought such an old fart would still have it in him . cheers Peter
  9. If you want to talk "warming up". We once worked on a drilling job in the Ukraine where on very cold mornings (lower than -10C) we had to light a little fire under the drill rig's sump to get the oil thin enough to allow the driller to have a go at starting the bloody thing. Now that's what I call warming up the vehicle first thing in the morning As for my girl in Perth, drive off normally, nothing silly until operating temp reached on temp guage. cheers Peter
  10. Bloody good concept Steve! providing there are no unforeseen circumstances at least half of Team Velocity will be there Peter
  11. Good to see that team velocity will have a 100% turn up will add some class to the fruit salad Peter
  12. Bloody hell now that's one scary chick...... who knows what else she would make dissapear Peter
  13. Looks like I will be in town this weekend so will try and catch up with you guys at the Carpark. cheers "the old Fart"
  14. MMM you guys seem to get all the fun! I don't know if its because I am an old fart or something but all I seem to attract on the streets are the bizare ones. I have had a guy run up to the car whilst waiting at the lights in the middle of the CBD almost begging me to "light her up" ... in the middle of downtown traffic??. As for the red light challenges how about a demon inspired Integra driver..... who must have been on drugs and just would not accept defeat .....and then there was the F250.... I have no idea what he was thinking Have only really had one SS ute try and take me, on the Roe Highway, he got the jump, mainly because I did not even know we were on...as I pulled up alongside him I pissed meself laughing, here he was hunched, yes hunched over the wheel, refusing to even acknowledge I was there.... bye bye oh well just life on the streets here in the west..... go figure. Most times I just cruise along and listen to her purr. My silly grin must annoy the crap out of the boys in Red One of the lads at work has a modded SS, about 300rwkws. He took my girl for a drive and has since added the TT kit to his, now doing +400rwkw. Two things he said, it was the only way he reckoned he could stay competitive and, it sure as hell cost him a lot more than $10K. It sure is one sweet beast now. Peter
  15. Yep, that's why I take my girl out in the wee small hours and that entry onto the Roe highway is a lovely stretch to wind her up. My fav spot for a bit of G-tech work. mmmm who said these Yamaha Advans are sticky Peter
  16. Mate I know what you mean, less than 5 years ago the joke was. "What's the difference between a large pizza and a Geologist? ...... at least the large Pizza can feed a family of four" cheers from a fellow survivor Peter
  17. Well as being one from the mining industry I would just like to put a little balance into the statements about adding value to the raw material. Aside from labour one of the biggest costs is power e.g. Aus has the world's largest reserves of bauxite which is processed into Alumina, which again Australia is the world's largest producer of, but the final step turning into Aluminium metal consumes enormous amounts of electricity and the cost of power in Aust is horrendous compared to other countries, so we end up with a few Aluminium Smelters only in places like Portland, Vic where the power is heavily subsidised by the Govt. (read you and me)! But the good thing is we dont have all those nasty dams (with their cheap hydo power) blocking up the rivers, or many of those horrible coal fired power stations with their smelly gases and ash and heaven forbid, we dont want nuclear power. So I can only conclude all we are doing is reaping the benefits of our own choices. I shake me head about people who lie down in the middle of the road and then complain when they get run over? I still have that old bumper sticker.... "Ban Mining - let the bastards freeze in the dark!" Is an old digger an proud of it Peter
  18. I got a complete set of Yokohama Advans on mine at about 35K, they are much stickyer than the dunlops and quieter too. All was going great until I got the new tune from Simon, now even the Yokies have problems. oh well at least I leave expensive marks. Peter
  19. Mel. Girl they look very tuff. I reckon they will be an excellent match with the colour. One thing though, I always thought you were the calming influence on that mad bugger you call your other half...... I can see your slipping. The way things are going can I interest you in runnning my girl down the quarter when the plex opens up again cheers Peter
  20. aussie_geo

    Stolen Xr8

Good to see your boy learned something from you ← you mean they are not supposed to do that? Peter
  21. I switched from Redline to this at the last service (45K) and have to say I have not seen any difference in anything but price, I get my girl changed at every 7.5K and this is going to save me heaps. Am very happy with it Peter
  22. Simon, What a sweet ride that new toy of yours (oops sorry Mel's ) is, for a big hunk of metal she gets off the mark nicely even at part throttle. That is the first time I have driven in a 6 speed auto, very smooth shifts. I was also impressed how quiet the cabin is and that black centre console with the silver buttons looks even better at night. cheers Peter
  23. ha ha.... dont you young'ns start going on about drinking beer or I might have to turn up and scare the out of a few of you. I did not get this way from drinking middies of boys beer Peter
  24. ha ha you wont see Simon or Mel on here until late tonight...... I can hear them arguing from my place "its my turn to drive" Peter
  25. Mate, The thing about getting a custom tune from a good tuner is that they will be able to identify any little minor things that might be going off with your girl, and fix it.... for a couple of hundred dollars more believe me it is worth every cent. So it ends up being a lot more than just a tune. Peter
