  1. My personal favourite of the whole weekend was the comment by the losing Greens senate candidate in the ACT, Kerrie Tucker. She said that the fact that the Libs/Nats will now have a majority in the senate is a sad day for democracy in Australia. Guess what stupid ? Its a great day for democracy in Australia because: (a) People got to vote (b) Whatever the result democracy worked because the makeup of Reps/Senate is determined by the democratic process I.e voting. Just because the silly woman missed out the whole democratic process is called into question, or just when it works against you ? The silent majority has spoken in this election. Good or bad (and I think its great personally) we got the Govt we voted for in a clear enough majority for them to be able to govern as per their policies, and not be interfered with by a couple of loose lefties and single issue parties in the Senate. Either way the result was very clear. If Labor had won I would have hoped the majority was just as clear so they could implement what their supporters voted for.
  2. For the punters A horse I part own is having its first race tomorrow in Canberra at the Canberra Cup meeting. Race 4, no 7, that's Just Great Its 1st race (as for all the others in the race) but its one and only barrier trial was OK, and it has been training well. Might be an each way bet
  3. Same goes for most moron drivers on the road Pretty rare to strike a good one as well. These topics are definitely Groundhog Day !! Hence some of us are sick and tired of reading the same crap! Touche, my friend.......touche
  4. ah, yes
  5. Don't forget back to back in 92 and 93, the (not so) super league in 97 and then the re-born joint comp in 98 and then as mentioned in 2000. 5 Premierships in 9 years - not bad for a team that can't play footy ... pffft ... actually that's 5 premierships in 12 years
  6. well said ! People should get it right though, Maccas is the 'donut' of choice in Oz (and not Oz the TV show on SBS). There are still some larger Police around, but generally they seem fitter nowadays (but a little smaller I will admit). Mind you once some of our 'larger' members get a hold of you, well size does matter As an example I work with a guy who is 6'9" and 130kgs (no fat!), and I also work with a guy 5'6" and 50kgs. Both can handle themselves. And yes it did take me a while to bite, was out playing golf
  7. here we go again p.s. cops eat donuts in america, not australia.....too much tv for u
  8. Sonny Bill (whose actual real name is William Williams) is very lucky to have even been allowed to play this year after the pre-season incident If it was the Coffs incident you are refering to all players were proven innocent it was the other party involved that let it go to far/ get out of hand Those players were definitely not 'proven innocent'. If there had have been one independent witness, just one, there would have been at least a couple of people watching the season from the inside of Long Bay. The players admitted to the group sex and most of the behaviour. The only reason it didnt proceed is they all would've lied on the stand to cover their asses, leaving the victim exposed to the ravages of their million dollar barrister. If you think they were 'proven innocent' then you are kidding yourself. They refused to cooperate with the Police (providing them with a one page statement instead of particupating in an interview), refusing to particpate in DNA testing (El Masri) and showed a contempt for the syatem with their attitudes and dress sense. Sure they are under no obligation to do any of the above but if you were an 'innocent' man wouldnt you do everything to clear your name ? Ratbags the lot of them

I have started up a web log, or 'blog', about my petty life. If you are keen to see what makes me tick go to http://theglovespeaks.blogspot.com/ Not much there now but it will expand in the future Cheers
  10. 11. Sonny Bill (whose actual real name is William Williams) is very lucky to have even been allowed to play this year after the pre-season incident
  12. Well done Chris Walker. Without doubt one of the worst defensive performances in the history of GF's. The defensive training sandpit at the Cowboys training centre shouldnt be named just after his brother Ben now, but renamed the Walker Bros tackling practice sandpit. Yes, he did score the first try but honestly, my mum couldve run through and caught that. I dont think the Bulldogs won the game, rather the Rooters lost it....if you know what I mean
  13. I just pulled over a bloke for speeding. When I asked him why he was speeding he said he had to get home as his 'stoma' had broken. I asked him what that was and he lifted up his shirt and showed me that his colostomy bag had broken and there was fresh sh*t all over him and pouring out of the bag ! I quickly gave him his licence back and said 'off you go then' as I dry retched in the back of my throat. This happened literally 30 mins ago. Eeeeewwwww !!
  14. Like the belief in god, there is no real proof for the creation of the universe other than a big bang theory, or at least as I know it. There were actuall people who spoke with an wrote down the teachings of the christian god when he was on earth. Big bang is still just a theory. Well the guy who said he was the god anyway. I certified someone the other day who thought he was God, or the son of it. I hope when it comes time for me to 'meet my maker' I don't find out I made a BIG mistake
  15. maybe even the kidneys, maybe the liver, maybe even the colon.....we don't know

    Way to Go

No....I guess they'd write this one off to what they said they would, drink-driving and no seat belt. If you think speed doesnt kill then I'd suggest you think about spending a month with a crash investigation team. I would lay good money your opinion would change significantly. I've seen the damage from a car hitting a tree at 60 and the same tree at 120. The speed did kill in that example. Yes, speed does kill

    Way to Go

Ummmmmm.....if he pranged the same car that he had been done for drink-driving 90 mins before, then why was he given his keys back after the first episode. I tell people not to bother coming back to get their keys for about 8hrs after they've been done for drink-driving and, if the guys in the front office are in any doubt about them when they come back to get their keys they test them again just to make doubley sure
  18. with you on that one Trumpy. Can't handle Fittler, just an overpaid fcuknuckle You're kidding aren't you, talking about Fittler like that. He is still one of the most potent attacking weapons in League. Not as dynamic an individual as he used to be, but his vision and positional skills make may of the young guns still look like amateurs. I'm not a Roosters or Bulldogs fan, but when people makw uninformed remarks like that it deserves some sort of comeback. He has played I dont know how many tests/SOO matches as well as close to 300 first grade games (from memory). He has played non-stop 1st grade since he was 17yo. You dont do that by being 'overpaid' Some of his behaviour off field may have left a deal to be desired, but he was, and is still, a fantastic footballer and one of the best ever
  19. I believe there is 'something' out there. I also thing that this 'something' is having a good laugh at watching us destroy each other in their name. If people displayed the basic tenets of just about every major religion, we would all be: (a) nice to each other (b) tolerant; and © forgiving When people manipulate their religious ideals to suit their own ends (read Islamic fundamentalists, radical Catholics/Proddys etc) then we have major problems. I am a born and raised rock chopper (Roman Catholic). I started to question my faith when a number of things happened. Firstly the largest owner of free-hold land in the world (The Cathlolic Church) expects us to put cash in the plate when they are absolutely rolling in it. To top of the moral high ground of the Church the Pope continues to espouse dated views on things like birth control while his church systematically covered up paedophilia up until recently. Every major war of the last 1000 years has religion involved in it. I think there's something in that for all of us.
  20. Careful, I hear there's coppers snooping around on this one as well
  21. I am playing off 24 at the moment, but not for long. Only joined a club about a month ago and hit my handicap when I am playing badly. Member at Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club
  22. man apart is sh*thouse watch the footy
  23. Trust me mate, the more you know about it, the more annoying it is. I can't believe how a government that was elected by a majority of the people (a small majority but one nonetheless) has its operation hampered by a few odd loons like some of the independents or single issue parties in the Senate. Whatever party wins our next Federal election I hope they dont have their efforts blocked. People elect governments becuase of their policies, I cant stand it when a couple of tools try to stop what the government was elected by a majority of the people to do. If this election is close, and it sounds like it will be, people like Hanson, Brown and other small parties will hold up the mandate of the govt once again, and major policies will be held up so people like Harradine can dance a traditional aboriginal dance in his business shirt and trousers looking like the fool he is
  24. How is blocking something she objects to failing? Surely, if she blocks something, but the majority of the Senate approve then she has failed ?, unless of course all Senators have to approve, ie 100% before any legislation can pass, in which case she can be an influence. The basic principle is that governments are elcted to govern. They do this on a wide range of agendas. When single issue parties such as the Greens get hung up on their individual issues, when they form part of the balance of power they can and do hold up necessary legislation to push their agendas. A lot of compromise is done that waters down what governments are trying to do. If you think that, in reality, one non major party senator has no real power then I would suggest you check how many pieces of legislation were passed in the senate by 1 or 2 votes. In a hostile senate, where the major parties cancel each other out, they have to compromise with the independents. Very often it comes down to the vote of one person. That one person can often nearly name their price to have important legislation (such as supply) passed. If you think that one sentor has no real impact then think again. Legislation only needs to pass by one vote. If every votes on party lines, aand it comes down to one persons vote then that person wields significant power
  25. Sure, she may only be one of the 76 (or whatever it is) but you may have heard of the phrase 'balance of power'. In the moment, in the Senate, the Coalition and Labor are about 50/50 with Senators, with the Independents/Democrats/Greens holding the rest, the 'balance'. In order or something to pass through the Senate the Govt not only has to have all its guys onside, but enought of the rest to give it a majority. The problem is these idiots with the balance (usually single issue parties like the Greens) constantly block legislation from the lower house (Reps where the govt has a majority) and, in a sense prevent the govt from doing what it was elected to do, or having to significantly water down their legislation they wish to pass. My advice would be this, unless the non mainstream parties really wet your whistle, vote for one of the mainstream parties so at least if they get elected in the upper/lower house they can do what they promised and not get held up by a bunch of kooks like Brown and his Green mates, or that loon Harradine (who fortunately is gone). You might only have one vote but dont waste it, its one of the most important things you have in a democracy. (Message not sponsored by the Australian Electoral Commission) BTW the Govt for years has looked at ways of reducing a hostile Senate's power to block legislation. As it requires an amendment to the Constitution it has to be put to the Australian people in a plebiscite (vote). If the Libs get re-elected in a similiar Parliamentary make up to now, it could be back on the agenda again as they tired of their legislative amendments getting frustrated by the Senate. The independents have quite a bit of clout, methinks to much. There's a difference between 'keeping the bastards honest', and being deliberately obstructive
