I suspect the car has been tuned at some stage as when I bought it there was major and expensive exhaust and inlet work done. I think the dealer stuffed up the tune when he reflashed the tune when there was an issue with the dash warning lights coming on. I think I should get it retuned and go to an A/C shop. I am in the blue mountains in NSW, any recommendations for a tuner and A/C shop in western Sydney? cheers lewis

Hi there forum people. I have asked this question before and did not seem to get far so I have decided to give it a go again..... my fg mk1 xr6t has a habit, no it's not a habit, it does this all the time of rev hunting when cold. its when you have started up, got onto the open road ( I live in the country) and you are cruising along at 1500rpm on a steady throttle and it starts rev hunting up and down about 500 rpm judging by what the tachometer says and it's also accompanied by an intense vibration when it drops into top gear. only when cold, never when warmed up. the other issue I have is how do you get decent cold air out of the A/C? jesus it's pathetic. the temperature sensor seems to be fairly accurate, I'm starting to think the compressor is not big enough. Any ideas anyone? Cheers Lewis

Hi there. I am suspect of the standard heat exchanger that cools the transmission on my FG Xr50 turbo ute. I do not want to install a kit with wheel arch mounted radiator but would rather fit a quality heat exchanger that fits in the same spot as the standard item. does any one know of such a thing and if so can someone point me in the right direction. I am bout to drive from Sydney to Adelaide across the desert and want to not stress about the milkshake effect. thanks lewis

Shudder/vibration noise at low revs when cold? G6ET

has the vibration issue gone for you Karlp2? if so, could you let me know what it was as I still have the issue. Lewis -

I have the same problem on my ute so it's probably not the rear end as they are different. I was wondering about the universal joints? lewis -
It has the growler air filter connected to the original ' intercooled ' plastic bit on top of the engine and from then on it has a big bore steel pipe connected to the turbo inlet by a red silicone joiner. From the boost side it is all standard to the throttle body where it has a heavy duty silicone joiner which joins the plastic from the intercooler and the top of the throttle body. The growler filter is not in its box but sitting in the engine bay, I am starting to wonder if this is causing all the noise. One problem I have is I haven't sat in another turbo to see what they sound like. Cheers Lewis

That's it? a flash tune I assume?

The car has a three inch exhaust from the turbo back and a growler air filter. that's all except some after market silicone connector hoses for inlet pipes on the pressured side. I think the growler filter makes a lot of whooshing noise as well which I don't like. really just after that tight, efficient, low key turbine sound without all the whistling and ugly whooshing. cheers lewis

Hi there Forum I am wanting to upgrade my plumbing from the turbo through to the throttle body keeping the original intercooler. First question is are the factory fitted intercooler good for the job as I am not chasing more power, I just want to install a pressured side of the inlet that is good quality, of metal construction, that has good seals between the different parts and has good quality flexible joiners that will not leak. My aim is to reduce inlet noise and to know that I will not be chasing leaks in the pressured side of the system. The car is a 2010 build and I am suspicious of the plastic bits, the age of them and how well they fit together. Does any one know of an after market kit that will do the job ? Any feedback appreciated. Cheers Lewis

Hi forum fellas. does anyone have any track locators for sale or know where I can get some? they are basically a bush that widens the rear track of the FG ute that goes between the wheel and the axle to fix the under tyred look that the Utes can have. Cheers Lewis

Thanks for all the advice. I will get on to checking all the inlet connections to make sure they are tight. lewis

Hi there fellow forum people. I have an FG XR250 turbo ute with a growler intake, a three inch exhaust from the turbo back and a turbo smart BOV that has a blanking plug to stop the shhhhhh noise on lifting off the throttle. The car is very quick and I am trying to make the car more refined, sort of a stealth car and one of the main issues I have is part throttle noise from inside the cabin. For example when you are briskly accelerating, just squeezing the throttle and the rev range from 1500 to 2000 starts to sweep by I get a very hissy, rushing , leaking air noise. On hard acceleration all sounds as it should with a high pitched compressor sound from the turbo when it's spinning hard but it's the low range lazy turbo boost that sounds totally wrong. Is this a normal sound from the car or should I be looking for leaks in the pressurised side of the intake? Could the noise be caused by the open style of the growler air filter? Any feedback would be welcomed, I used to have a Subaru WRX and it did not sound like this at all, more of a very efficient and tight sounding turbine whine with no hissing noise. Maybe it's an issue with the design of the whole intake system and I need to replace it with an after market system. cheers lewis

Just the d bushes were done. Should I replace the sway links as well. lewis
