The horns have to be relocated...but new brackets and extended plug in horn wiring comes with the kit. It really is very simple. Kevin -

Probably about the same..the Typhoon cooler is not much bigger than the cooler off an XR6. Kevin -

Back-to-back Ic Testing On A Dead Stock Car
Process West replied to Process West's topic in Intercooler Workshop
Mainline dynos are renown for reading low. Ive seen a car do 200kw atws on a Sydney Dyno Dynamics dyno and later that day 175kw on this dyno. All intercoolers impede the air flow to the radiator. In a perfect world each heat exchange product would have its own space at the front the vehicle. I havent heard of any over heating problems on an XR6T yet (on the street anyway..race circuit - different story). Kevin -
Back-to-back Ic Testing On A Dead Stock Car

You guys are hard to please...maybe I need to change the description of the product (Im open to ideas). There are no new holes to drill and the brackets are welded to the core. I guanentee there are no headaches with the install. I could have designed a kit that was the "up and over" type but I dislike the look of the pipe over the intercooler and it wastes valueable intercooler core space. Kevin -
Guys A few weeks ago I was asked some questions about the effects of changing the intercooler on an otherwise stock car. Over the last few days I had the opportunity to fit and test one of my new “bolt in” intercoolers on a dead standard BA manual ute. First test was a baseline power run on the Southern Motor Works Mainline dyno. While we were at it we measured the stock intercooler outlet temperature. (measured just before the crossover pipe). The below graph shows how poorly the factory intercooler performs. Starting from the bottom you can see the first run which starts off at approx. 49 degree C and rises to 67 by the end of the run. After 3 runs the temp peaks at 72….and this is a dead standard car. I would hate to see what would happen to the inlet temps if the car was put on a race circuit. The baseline power figure was 165kw atw….(more on this later). Next, we installed my new upgrade “bolt in” intercooler kits. This intercooler was designed a less expensive option than a complete kit and bolts into place using the factory intercooler plumbing (+ one extra pipe). Now, back to the dyno. Without any changes what so ever we ran the car up again. This time we were keeping a close eye on air/fuel ratio as the larger more efficient intercooler will introduce cooler, more dense air and a possible lean condition. The air fuel ratios remained very safe at 11.0/1 at full song and the intercooler outlet temps saw a peak of 38C after 3 hard runs. (ambient was about 28C) Below shows the before and after power runs. Peak difference was 28.6kw ATW which is an outstanding result. This graph shows the before and after inlet temps. Discuss Kevin There are a heap more pics here http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...t=0#entry495649

Yes, its a big claim but I stand by it. Cheapest yes...they look like it. The Chinese sell their intercoolers by the weight if the aluminium. Sparsley finned means less weight and a cheaper cooler. Using the word "flow" is very loose term. An intercooler core with no internal fins or fins that are sparce will show very good flow characteristics but do very little to exchange heat from the charge air. I buy my intercooler core with internal and external fins to my spec and they do cost a lot more. Kevin
Kevin, would I have any problems with say fitting a Nizpro plenum down the track with this cooler. It seems like it should be fine but I don't really know what to look for.
Yes, it will be fine...Ive fitted one of these and did custom piping to suit the Nizpro plenum. I can sell you the core/brackets only if you like Kevin -
Guys If you can wait about 5 days I will releasing my "bolt it" upgrade intercooler. Double the size and 500 times the quality of the "wog"cooler. Price will be right to. Kevin

Correct...you can just leave the snorkel off and/or add an aftermarket intake to the front of the airbox. I have an FRP and carbon fibre pieces being produced now (the tooling is being built) but it is still a few months away. Kevin -

I cant give you an accurate answer....Ive installed plenty of these coolers on modded/tuned cars but Ive never done a dead stock car and tested the effects. There is no metal cutting/grinding at all. Bolts straight in with no headaches. Kevin -
Guys As an introduction to becoming a sponsor here I am going to conduct a group buy for my XR6T stage 2 upgrade intercooler. Some info about the intercooler. *Utilises a bar & plate core construction with core measurements of 420mm charge air flow length x 360mm stack height x 90mm thick. *Hand made polished aluminium end tanks. *Intercooler plumbing is CNC mandrel bent and then painted in a 2 – Pac silver/clear finish. This type of finish is the best in my opinion. It looks great and will stay looking great. *Intercooler mounts central in the front of the car..(some aftermarket coolers are mounted offset and look really bad in my opinion) Some pics Following 2 pics show complete system installed. Pic 2 shows system componets (note – this pic shows the intercooler pipes done in a burnished finish – pipes are now done is a silver painted finish) Pic 3 before and after dyno graph of stock Vs Upgrade intercooler. Group buy will work like this… Group buy starts now and will expire on Friday 23rd February. There is no minimum number to the group buy. The price for the complete kit will be $950 whether there is one buyer or 20. Once the group buy expires on the 23rd and I know what qty I need to manufacture it will take me approx. 7 days to bring it all together. In other words I will have everything ready to ship by the end of the month. I have all of the raw components so there will be no headaches in delivery. To be part of this group buy I would like a $200 deposit paid by the close of the group buy (23th). The remainder payable as soon as I am ready to ship. If you live close enough fitting is available at the Process West workshop in Wollongong. Cost is $250.00 and takes about 3 hours. I would like to use email instead of PMs to organise..(Its much easier to manage) If you want to be a part of this group buy email me at sales@processwest.com.au and I will email you a payment options document. If you have any questions you can ask here or call me on 0400777111 This thread shows more information about some testing we did of the stock intercooler system. Have you confirmed this with them or is it a guess? ← I said "I think". Looking at pics of their products it looks like Adrad core. Kevin
