When you shut it down you can hear the turbine spinning and it sounds like noisy bearings. We had to switch back to the factory tune is it wasn't boosting under load. He's just been driving it on really light throttle. thanks. Doug.

Hi to all. My brother has a BA XR6T which needs the turbo to be replaced. The bearings are noisy.... It only has 70,000 k's on it!! It has a custom tune on it with 248rwkw. Boost is 10psi which drops off to 9.5psi right at the top end.I had the tune done 3 years ago as it used to be mine. Is this common??? I haven't heard too many reports of problems.....My brother's pissed because it's going to cost about $2000 to replace. He's worried that something else major will go wrong!! Is it dangerous to keep driving it this week?? Is $2000 about right to change the turbo?? Cheers. Doug

Hi All. just a quick question about the differences between the BA - BF when it comes to tuning. The BF has VVT on the intake and exhaust where the BA has VVT on intake only( as I've been told). Is there more power to be had from BF once you start modifying?? I'm aware of the bottom end differences, strength wise. The reason I ask is that I've found a BA mk2 at a good price with the options I'm after. It's a 1 owner dead stock well looked after machine. Cheers. Doug

How can it be in the competition's interest to keep them(HRT) racing???????? This is one of the most disgraceful outcomes in sport!!!! Harsh penalties to HRT doesn't punish the whole Red side. The fact that it is the factory team should make the consequences even more serious not less!!!!!! What happen's in the footy for a salary cap breach???? These are fundamental rules being broken.....What happened to Schumacher a few years ago??? He got excluded from the whole season's points for his bad tactics and he was F1's golden boy!!! HRT/HSV have been the standout teams and now we know why!!!! I would be more than happy to see Perkin's team for example winning fair and square. People like him deserve to compete on an equal footing with the Fords aswell as the Holdens. I may sound harsh but saying I'm pi55ed is a massive understatement and I wish we could do more about it....We waited too long to taste success and have had our noses rubbed in it for years..... What happens if HRT win the next round???? And the next one after that????? How the hell is that fair to any other competitor and the fans aswell??? I better stop now.....That's my whinge.........It doesn't change anything I know but I just had to say it!!

Hi Guys. I was getting my BA XR6t auto serviced today and while I was there, A VE SS auto had been fitted with a complete new exhaust(from extractors to tip!!),air filter and a custom tune. The stock VE had 218rwkw. It was then fitted with a hi flow filter and the extractors and exhaust etc. It was custom tuned on the dyno. Final result was 252 rwkw. I know you can't accurately compare dyno charts from different days but I think the XR6t compares well. My stock car on the same dyno(different day) had 210rwkw with a k&n filter and after the custom tune it is up to 250 rwkw. As I said you can't compare exact figures from different days but I think we can be confident when we line up next to one!!!!! Also, my investment was $1500 for the mods where the VE would have been around the$4000-5000.......Now it's my turn for exhaust and injectors(and tune)!!!!! Cheers. Doug

You are absolutely correct......Aside from the car mag reports, there has been very little media since the appeal and no promo's that I have seen from Holden,HSV or major sponsors!!!! It just goes to show you that their "win at all cost attitude" has not been worth it... I don't remember a more controversial incident that has brought the sport so much bad will......It reaks!! I guess it always stinks around a***holes!!!!

I think the letter is real because Rick makes the same claims and more in the new Auto Action released yesterday.........He certainly hasn't done himself any favours in the interview....He publicly has another go at Lowndes,888 and the public....If Toll have any morals they must surely be embaressed by this imature IDIOT.... Great drivers gain respect from both supporting camps where Rick will only be liked by a minority of the Expensive Daewoo side.

Hi Guys. I had had someone hit the back of my XR6T this morning. Not a major accident but the rear bumper is finished and the panel behind it is pushed in making it hard to close the boot. Can someone reccomend a good repairer in Sydney?? I'm with NRMA and I do have choice of repairer. Thanks. Doug.

I was told to leave it in performance mode and let it shift on it's own....This was supposed to be faster!!?? I left that as a constant last night and tried different tyre pressures and launch techniques. Unfortunately I didn't get the dyno print out. I'm not really after a specific target for now as the car is very mild.....I took it out last night to see how it would perform and if the custom tune is working as well as possible. At the same time, I don't want to be killing the car!! I was going to try a different tuner but at $400-500 for a custom tune it's an expensive process!! Cheers. Doug.

I agree. I've never been one to look at outright power alone....The real world is more than just numbers....That's why I have asked the question about my time. I can now compare PERFORMANCE and not just a dyno figure....So maybe my custom tune wasn't as good as it could have been??? Cheers. Doug.

Yes I was stalling it up and I was getting some wheelspin off the mark. Even when I dropped the tyre pressure down to 16psi.....I was just curious because another car in the high 12's had similar power but was much quicker.
