  1. Generic scan tools and data loggers only show some OBD2 specific codes and data. A lot of what the Capa datalogger shows is ford specific data which is more accurate and more in depth. Yes your tuner could load your tune into the ford flash 2 (Xcal2) providing it is the australian version
  2. Congrats Glenn, would have been good to see what it could have done with a full power run
  3. use it all the time, otherwise wouldnot be able to do accurate tuning when it comes to torque management or spark values etc
  4. Long story short, if you want to tune an aussie car you need to purchase a box via Capa or one it's dealers and then you will need to purchase the software and sign all the licensing agreements etc to get the dongle activated and then it will only do our aussie cars. You can then pay for it to be activated to do american cars, but you pay a fee per processor code number.
  5. Theres a BA XR8 ute for sale in the sale section with a couple of hair dryers thrown in as well :banghead:
  6. it's been developed in the states but configured to only work on our cars and with boxes that have had software changes to only work on our cars Fatsex beat me to the answer
  7. $40-$45 for the part from a dealer
  8. My thoughts may come accross as being biased which I do not intend to as I tune cars , but I will give my personal opinion. The software is not as easy to use and datalog as you guys think. There is not a set of instructions that guide you through, although it is not rocket science it will take a little while to get your head around Although a majority of the tuning can be done without a dyno, you will need a dyno to get the last bit of performance from your cars even down low in the rev range. The back up from SCT is pretty ordinary to the point where they don't even answer questions on their forums. Their forums are not a step by step guide to tuning cars either. The software is not layed out in a way that is easy to find a parameter that needs to be adjusted, ie there can be 4-5 tables that may need to be adjusted just to get the air fuel ratio to your desired point. I have done the last 3 Nizpro tuning seminars and keep learning new things all the time. The first time I did the tuning seminar, I had no idea where to even start with using the software and I've been a mechanic for quite a few years. I also thought that I could sucessfully tune a car without a dyno - wrong - I have now invested in a $77000 dyno just so I can tune. The cars do have knock sensors, but they can not be relied on correctly to pick up knock and the sensors themselves require quite a bit of tuning to make them work correctly. Jerry from SCT actually hates knock sensors because of this reason. You will need some form of wide band o2 sensor to check your air fuel ratios. While on about air fuel ratios, timing will need to be different for different A/F so you will need to monitor them closely. I could go on and on, but I'm not great at typing what is actually going on, Maybe Danny could elaborate a bit better than I can. Good luck with tuning if you do get it, but be prepared for a huge learning curve and also a warning that part of that learning curve may end up as damaged engines. There is a lot of satisfaction in doing things yourself. Also don't expect any back up from Capa if you buy the software directly from the states. Good luck and keep us informed how you go :ifiusethisimafag:

    300+rwkw Rspec

Different boost levels at lower rpms
  10. on my dyno I'm seeing 275-280 rwkw, others are reporting higher figures but do not have times to support it
  11. In the edit programme, you turn off switches that control the auto and think that it is an auto, your tuner should be able to do ths for you
  12. I have tuned a 260 that had bigger cams fitted by another workshop and it made similar power to a 290 with the same other mods, but the car has not been raced to get any figures. There have been a few reports of cams being fitted and high power levels, but none of these have appeared as race times, that I'm aware of. Wade from the other forum ran 11.8s in a manual 260 ute that has been rebuilt with different cams, he is the quickest cam change that I have heard of, but that's not to say there are not others I should also add, that my car was tuned by Bluepower when I was racing it, it was before I had my dyno and software
  13. Not that I can think of. Mine's a 4 speed auto but was running a 3500 rpm convertor when I ran 11's My mods are bluepower cold air box SS throttle body Difillipo Extractors 3" cats and Modified X force cat back system 4.1 diff Edit Under drive pullies When I ran 11's it was with tailgate removed, dropped exhaust, no spare, seats removed and a padded recaro seat fitted for the driver also fitted a 4 point race harness, probably dropped maybe 150 kg and the car used slicks and front runners. The engine was also untouched as far as any internal work and it ran on straight BP ultimate
  14. In drag racing terms Nos is classed as forced induction. (chemical supercharging) There have been several N/A Boss's run 11's but with 4 speed auto and a couple of manual N/A's, but I think they have all been BA's
  15. You can change it when you get it edited though

    Tunes...

1 A tune from a good tuner will not damage your car, only your clutch and tyres 2 The flash tuner can be used an indifinite amount of times 3 No 4 Yes 5 Tell your friend he has no idea
  17. Better choices of stronger and nicer clutches with the 6 speed
  18. if the clutch is slipping it will not be able to be tuned under load.
  19. Don't question me about the injectors, as I have at this stage only used the siemens, but what Paul is saying was the general concensus by some of the major tuners at the tuning seminar.
  20. MT ET Street Radials or legal street tyres ?
  21. Well done Paul but would have to make it the fastest by a long shot Congrats What is this stage 1.5 crossover you speak of ?
  22. Talk to the boys at Australian LPG Warehouse 03 9770 2287. They have Vapour LPG systems allready for the turbo cars and will shortly be releasing Liquid injection set up also, which should help make better power and better fuel economy
  23. 116 mph with 280 rwkw 1850 kg without driver
