  1. The advantage software is what is used to tune the ECU's in our cars, do a search I'm sure there is a few threads abut it.
  2. You could always buy a flash2 and make some adjustments yourself or even buy the Advantage software which is totally adjustable.
  3. Your correct about fuel, if you have it tuned on 98 and then run it on 95 you will kill your motor, because it will not tolerate as much timing with the same boost levels on a lesser octane fuel. If tuned your car should always run sweet providing things like plugs and filters etc are kept up to scratch and providing you do not get any heat soak issues. Even with heat soak the motor can still be in tune to be safe providing all multipliers, adders or subtractors are set correctly, it's just it will be done on power. But if you changed anything that may affect the tune, the tune would have to be recalibrated to be correct for the new setup
  4. Even a custom tune would not be gauranteed to be safe if used in another car with the same mods, every car responds a little bit different which is why even the generics can not be gauranteed The only safe way is to custom tune the car it will also maximise the power gains
  5. That's the most important thing
  6. Your right , it is a hard test on the car and it's equipment. You also know now that after giving it a bit of boosted fun, just a very small drive to get some airflow happening and you'll have your 308 rwkws back for the next squirt, unlike what would have happened with a stock cooler or monza
  7. That's cool. Back to back runs to see how power performs would be run performed after a run. Even by letting the car run for a few minutes between runs can be enough to let a good cooler cool enough to not show any power drop especially with the dyno fan running, while it is idling even the small amount of unboosted air passing through the cooler can be enough to drop the air intake temps to levels where there is no reduction happening. Maybe my idea of back to back is different to what others beleive Still an excellent result though
  8. good results, but reading your other post, the runs wern't exactly what I'd call back to back Good feed back though
  9. cross your fingers it's repairable, new they are around $4K from ford
  10. Probably better off spending money elsewhere, but get a few other opinions first
  11. It is wasn't filling with air, your motor would be running with vacuum............No boost A plenum is normally used in higher horsepower levels, but just by fitting the plenum, you will be shorteneing the charge piping which means the car should spool up a bit quicker

    Xr6t Vs Ss

Nice, I bet it's not as fast as the T, but sounds a whole lot better

Not taking anything away from you, but I've ridden a 1098, if he was trying the front wheel would have been in the air for the first 2 and maybe 3 gears, well done anyway

there not called hills, they are called gutters and most cars can get over them. Seriously find one and take it for a drive, or worse work on them

Lada Nivas Possibly the worst car made I used to work at a place that did a lot of Nivas, they are bad, even as a new car they probably compare to something from the 70's
  16. sometimes ther isn't enough room under the bonnet for turbos so compromises must be made. I tune an XR8 ute that had the turbos mounted under the tray behind the cab, he purchased a complete kit to mount them under the bonnet and when fitted up there was no room to run dump pipes out, so he nearly scrapped the idea, but decidied to mid mount them and suck it and see, he was expecting to be a bit laggy, but it operated great, 365 rwkw @ 8 psi and consistant run after run.
  17. There is a couple of tassie members here and they have a drag strip. Zx6blue posted some pics and race details about a week ago. I have met Zx6blue and have to say he only has 1 head, so I guess the stories are not true.
  18. Good idea, as bargains pop up all the time.
  19. I don't think the problem is about it making power (300 rwkw) it's about it's ability to cool and work as an intercooler. If you just wanted power, you could have just bought some 3" pipe and it would have the same ability to make power and probably the same ability to cool. You were told that ETM had a cooler for sale which would have been 4 times the quality but less than twice what you paid. At the end of the day you are happy with what you purchased and that is all that is important, but when you get your car tuned and it makes 300 rwkw on 1 hero run, but then gets blown away by a car that makes 250 rwkw, you may not think that it was worth it and have to spend more money getting a decent cooler. Yes you got a bargain, did you get a good product, for stock applications it will be fine.
  20. C4's can be built to handle 1000 hp and use slicks, but require constant maintenance to keep them alive, the 400 will also do it as well but easier and the internal operation of the 400 is more efficent
  21. I guess with the added performance of a Nos sticker, these could be a great upgrade to get the car to stop better
  22. when cold 1 run at 300 rwkw+ but air intake temps go through the roof and big time powr drop. A replacement intercooler at $1000 bucks in the off chance of accident damage is still cheaper than an engine rebuild.. ETM is selling a rapid cooler at the momment very cheap, be quick and snap it up
  23. They will normally allow decent power to be made............... but only for 1 run, they are not very good at cooling, which leads to high intake air temps which then leads to spark being reduced and therefore power being reduced. save for a decent cooler
  24. Could be as simple as a slow operating O2 sensor, get it scanned and check it's operation
  25. I think Doogster ran a 13.8 or 9 in his NA XR6
