  2. The word hero is used a lot these days, anyone who is good at sport is called a hero, anyone who does a good deed is called a hero. The word is over used and I think has lost a lot of its true meaning, but I believe that the volunteer fire fighters are true heroes. When others are packing their cars and heading away from danger, the volunteer fire fighter is also packing their car, but they are heading towards the danger. When others are running from flames, they are running towards the flame. When others are collecting their family, these volunteers are leaving their families. They can be the first on the scene at some horrific accidents to face sights that would make most of us sick, but they are there to the end and left to clean up the mess. They will work for days, with very little rest and when they do rest, they will probably be sleeping on the ground rather than the comfort of their safe bed. Sure there are professions that do similar risk associated jobs, but they also get paid to do it. These volunteers are not paid, they are normal working people like you and me, they have normal jobs, they have normal families. Watching the bush fire telecast over the week end, they interviewed some fire fighters, some have left their houses to protect others and have lost their own house due to the fire, there was even 1 story of a fire fighter who lost his own wife and child, while protecting others. These guys/girls are heroes, not because they can hit or kick a ball better than you and me, because they put their own safety at risk to protect you and me.
  3. Possibly a bad join on the wiring on the fuel pump, or incorrect (non submersible hose) hose fitted to the pump.

  5. That's great to hear The tuner I know must have an older version, as he prefers another brand to do his GM tuning, Thanks Dale
  6. No it is not live tuning. It has been reported that they are working on live tuning, but at this stage the ford ECU does not enable live tuning. It would be good if they can get live tuning, but I believe there would extra hardware to get it to operate, like they do with EFI live and the moates roadrunner system. Maybe Greg could give us a time frame if the thinks it can be done.
  7. The file formats would be different between the software types, so 1 programme would not accept the other file format The only way you could do it would be have tour car tuned by VCM suite, then get a new flash tuner, when the flash tuner is plugged into the car, the VCM tune would be saved as the factory tune, You could then get SCT tunes into the other slots. Doing it this way will only ever keep the 1 VCM tune in your box and it will not be able to be edited. You would also loose your factory tune
  8. People have to remember, that the tuning software is only a tool to access and adjust what parameters ford have loaded into the ECU. The after market software can not add extra features, so in theory tune results should not be hindered by using 1 brand of software compared to another.

  10. No mate. I only have the latest software, but luckily enough had not done an update for a few days when this rubbish started, so I can do burning to flash boxes. I normally do regular updates for 2 reasons, it resets your flash count, but also they ad extra features into the software from time to time and different processor codes. Just glad I did not update the other day.
  11. that's good to hear, may be it's not as bad as I thought, would be good to know though which cars have been snipered and what is the original processor code on the car. Maybe we should start another thread.
  12. Moved to this thread I do not have the sniper at this stage, I enquired about it a while ago and the distributor would not return several emails over a 2 week period, so I figured if they will not help leading to a sale, how are they going to help after a sale has been made. I may have to revisit this though and give them a second chance. I was speaking to another tuner yesterday and he told me the sniper is hit and miss on what processor codes it works on. as I mentioned earlier, this is just info as I know it, just trying to clear up some facts
  13. Cars will contunue to be tuned, it's just about what product or what hardware is required to do it
  14. Hi guys after taking 2 days of reading different forums and talking to a couple of the major players involved in all this, I have to admit I'm not 100% clear of the future of our tuning product, but will try to set a few things straight as far as I'm aware of things. When we purchased the SCT software, we had to sign 2 contract agreements, a contract for Capa and a contract for SCT. Some of the clauses in these contracts relate to us not trying to hack the software or reverse engineer their tuning devices and also not willingly allow another person to do the same. As tuners we have the ability to unlock a flash box, providing the original tune was returned to the original car, the owner could then reuse his flash box on another car and this could be done up to a total of 5 cars. Now if this orignal tune was not returned, we as tuners could not unlock these boxes, so they originally would have to go back to SCT to be unlocked. They would normally only do this after a car was written off or was stolen and the owner still had their flash box, but legal proof would have to be produced. SCT eventually allowed an australian distributor the ability to unlock these boxes to save sending them back to the states. It has been reported that an australian distributor was recently trying to sell flash boxes that they would continually unlock for a fee, which means a customer could get a car tuned but without the cost of a flash box, but they would not own a flash box. Now this may work out cheaper for the customer for a 1 off tune, but if they wanted tune touch ups they would continiually have to absorb the unlocking fee, so after maybe 3or4 changes, they would be worse off and still not own a flash box. This distributor has also posted, that this was not happening, but they threw it out there to see if there was a need for it. This may not seem like a big deal to some customers, but it would be for SCT. Most software companies make their income by receiving licence fees. If you have another brand of car tuned, normally in part of the price is a fee for a vehicle licence or if no licence fee is applied, the tuner has paid a lot more money to have unlimited licences for a particular model and he would be passing on some of that extra cost as part of his price to meet his overheads. We have to think of these flash boxes as SCT's licence fee, every time they sell a flash box they received their licence fee. By a company/person having the ability to reuse a box over and over on different cars is basically robbing SCT, basically piratcy. Now I don't think at this stage anyone actually cares about SCT at the moment, because of the way they have decided to conduct themselves, but they had to take measures to stop this from happening. The way they have done it is wrong as far as I'm concerned, I believe there is better ways, but now we have to suffer. SCT has not sold any Xcal1 (our flash box) since 2005, they are old technology and all companies stop supporting an old product at some stage, but they should not stop it from working, just allow it to die a natural death from either old age or using all it's lives. As far as Herrod, they have not just been made the distributor, we were informed before october last year that they were now the australian distributor and once anyone elses stock was sold, Herrod would be the sole distributor for australia. Now SCT has told us in the last 8 months or so, that we could deal directly with them, so I'm not sure whether this still applies with Herrods being the local distributor. I believe Herrod sell the X3 as this is the current unit being used in the states, SCT do not sell the Xcal1 or flash 2 anymore. The unit is dearer than what we have become accustomed to, but remeber that the flash box was $1295 when it came out. X3 is not the Livewire tuner It appears that next week, SCT will be going over tuners and allowing some the ability to be able to flash the boxes again, but this appears to be for only another 90 days at this stage, but I know talks are still happening regarding this. As far as other tuning options, I have spoken to some other tuners that have toyed with other software and it appears they are not compatiable with all processor codes and models at this stage, so some cars could be tuned with brand A but not brand B, so it appears SCT is the best product at the moment, but things may change in the future. I think if distributors of sniper or VCM suite are serious about their product, they could offer tuners a sample of their software with possibly the ability to flash 1 car, so a good comparison can be made about products. I believe SCT had to act I believe they went about it the wrong way I don't believe Herrod's are the villians Pit Lane still has 290 burns left so we can still do a few cars and hopefully it will be sorted by the time they are used.
  15. Flash 2, like some aftermarket code readers, only read some generic trouble codes, and will only clear the same codes. A lot of workshops have scan units which can read and clear all problem codes, talk to your mechanic and see if he has 1 and if so get him to clear it.
  16. Another local fire this morning, this time a few klms from the workshop, I can see helicopters again and have seen Evis again in the distance. Would love to catch some bastard starting 1 of these
  17. No idea, but it's enough to put out a wild fire in a short time
  18. After getting several frantic phone calls today at work, that there was a fire almost at my house, had to rush home and found some interesting but welcome visitors Sorry about the dust bunnies, my 30D need a good clean

    Flash2

It will allow you to make minimal changes to a tune that is in the flasher, you can not rewrite a map and you can only change WOT fuel. That is providing the people that loaded the tune in the flasher have allowed adjustment to be accessible, as they can turn it off. There can be enough adjustment in it, that a novice could damage an engine
  21. into the new year there should be a liquid injection kit become available for the FG T, but as fas as outlook date, who knows???
  22. as mentioned above, starting in gear may not show the problem, as it may be air in the system which will affect total throwout, running or not. Also no synchro in reverse
  23. the reverse lock out should not affect 1st gear, sounds like a possible clutch problem, hopefully just a bleed may be all it needs.
  24. You will also have to know the volume of the plenum, so your tuner can adjust the tune to elinimate delays in fueling etc
  25. These belts as mentioned should be replaced every 60000 klms, but the tensioner and idlers should also be replaced at the same time. Normally water pumps are not replaced with them unless there is a problem with the pump. Normally if these belts break, they bend valves which would explain your low compression, the head would have to be removed to fix this
