    Clutch talk

I've only ever has Mal Wood clutches. Having had an option 3,5 and 6 clutches, I can attest to their smoothe, seamless action, with factory type driveability. Their quality and reliability are second to none...
  2. I can't afford a new car,as I buy too many car parts.... My new alloy blocked Cleveland is due in Oz, in a few weeks....
  3. Thanks Matty. I might have someone lined up. I'll keep you posted...
  4. I'm interested in a car in Bluehaven, near Newcastle. Are there any members that could possibly drop around and have a look at it for me. I'm more than happy to buy a carton of your favourite beverage, for your troubles.
  5. Want cams? Install a Haltech and Ghost cam the sh*t out of it...
  6. That's why I went with Atomic Stage 3 cams.
  7. As mentioned in our conversation. I wall have a similarly spec'd Atomic short, or long engine ready for sale in a few weeks... It will be significantly less than the Atomic unit.
  8. He wants to progressively build it to do a 9 second quarter. A Fg donk won't cut the mustard...
  9. High performance box? A Magnum?
  10. Being a 2004, I'm assuming it's a 5 speed. If it is, the box will fail before the clutch...
  11. I'm yet to see sinfle handle much over 450 rwkw, especially when you put on some sticky tyres. The torque just kills them. Twin or triple plate is the best option...
  12. Where are you located? I'm in Yeppoon and can help you out with some parts. I've got pretty much everything that you need...

    My Build

I had a few teething issues, as the Magnum has a slight variation with the distance that the sector travels. Simon was extremely helpful and sent the parts promptly. I removed the whole console and installed the shifter in car. Fitting was reasonably straight forward. However, there is a metal shim that is installed between the baseplate and the shifter. It requires sealant on both sides and I found it to be rather tedious and messy. I later called Simon and and replaced the shim with gasket paper of the same thickness. It has made the process substantially quicker and easier. The shifter reqires a bit of metal to be removed and I have ordered a Navara dust cover to full the void as seal the area. I haven't installed it yet, so cannot confirm how successful it will be..

Got the shifter fitted, again.. I currently have 1st, neutral and reverse gear. Can't check second gear changes until I get the car started (Odyssey battery died). I machined a lot of material from the gear knob, to accept the strain gauge and for it to be almost completely covered. I also fitted the caliper brackets and a caliper. Check out the clearance on the 19' Vertini Drifts.... New HC800 pads for the front and NS400 for the rear.

Yes James, I will be running an ignition cut. This will likely be combined with a fuel cut. Btw, I ended up purchasing a set of HC800 and NS400 pads. I look forward to pushing them hard... The front caliper brackets have been modified and should be mounted soon. He is a cheeky bugger and quite witty... The replacement parts fro the sequential shifter have arrived. I had planned on changing them out today. But, I had some tax stuff to chase up. I wasn't really keen on the idea, but I am getting a very health return. And I need fund a new alloy blocked Cleveland... The car will be heading to my wiring guy's home for a few weeks to get the gear position sensor, strain gauge, manifold back pressure sensor and EGT wired. I don't envy him....

I fitted the S1 Sequential shifter yesterday. We ran in to a teething problem, with the tumbler barrel being different for the Magnum. Simon is shipping the required components tomorrow. So, I hope to sort the problem when I return home on Monday.. After which, we'll be spending some time on getting the cold start sorted. Caliper brackets will be finished next week also. Getting closer to practical completion....

Fitted the new 360mm offset rotors. They look huge. I they ended up sitting 10.4 mm further inboard. As you can see there is now ample room to fit the caliper, even with 19" Vertini Drifts. The caliper brackets are currently being modified to suit. Should be finished by Friday.
