Yep just different bolts on the Plazmaman tank. I've talked about group buys with Alex a few times, main issue is there's not a huge mark up on these products anyway, so the lower group buy price may not be too impressive. At the end of the day, there's really no solid way to do the surge tank set up like these for much less... I've looked at doing my own at a lower cost, but by the time all the parts are added up its close to these two anyway... The only way to reduce price is use cheaper connections, hoses, pump ect... But there's no way I'm selling a cut price fuel system, seen too many fuel system leaks from poor quality hoses and fittings...

Bit hard to compare Vevas turbo to Bens when their cars are waaaay different... I'd say bens has alot more comp too being a stock f6 motor?
-
Yeah we've had most of the billet varieties over the last year, with mixed results and reliability issues... The tried and tested 66mm wheel is a proven performer for mid 400s that we find ourselves constantly going back to.
-
Yeah Loco how's the stallie working out?
-
66mm comp wheel and .7 comp housing, on the stock turbo will see 450kws... High 400s on e85 Above that start looking at gt40 and bigger turbos, plus manifold , wastegate ect.

If anyone wants to send there's to me, I do them for $300 Can do externals too

True, I've got 2 o44s and a custom 4lt surge tank I've mounted in the spare wheel well, even though I used the speed flow fittings and line there is still the smell getting through, which sux so I don't recommend it to anyone, but in the upside, E85 doesn't smell so there's no smell issues, and o44s run so cold with e85 they are very quiet... It's amazing how loud they get if I have to use 98, takes about 15 mins for them to heat up and buz like mad. It's good to see fuel pressure has been mentioned, as the pressure is as important as volume. Here's some simple theory... Injectors need a certain volume of fuel to flow x amount for the motor to make power, and the volume needs to be controlled by pressure, this pressure is set in the rail, and controlled by the fuel regulator. IF the stock pump is the only pump in your system, it's the low tank level pick up that greatly reduces the fuel pressure, so less pressure equals lean lean lean afrs, and usually damaged motors if constantly pushed through this lean area. If your budget does stretch for a surge tank set up, I'd get a fuel pressure gauge , perhaps with a warning light or buzzer, atleast you'll have a warning to tell you to get off the throttle befor you do damage. Now the stock reg is good, mine is still working fine at 460wkw, but what I've found is that boot mounted pumps supply less pressure at the rail, compared to pump(s) mounted in the enging bay. This is the reason why slot of guys running 2 044s in the bay have run into idle and cruise issues, as Danny mentioned , super rich mixtures due to the factory reg not being able to flow enough fuel AWAY from the rail. Myself & CMS have set up quite a few Plaz surge tanks with aeromotive a1000 pumps and haven't had these low rpm fuel mixture issues, so I'd say the 044s , being higher rated (1300 v 1000) push just that little bit too much volume and pressure for the stock reg to flow... Where the A1000 is just enough for the stock reg to flow. Even though my own car runs 044s in the boot, I much prefer a front mounted surge tank and Aeromotive A1000. I've got 80s flowing enough E85 for 460wkw, on stock rail pressure, but close to their limits at this pressure... Though we have seen high 500s from 80s but running 95psi rail pressure which is a bit to high for a street car.

$900 for the tune, is through CMS, who do all RApidsystems tuning and fitting (unless the customer wants to go else where, which is fine), I can do much about the tuning price, that's what CMS charges, and $795 is Herrods set retail price. You can pay less for tuning , and you can pay more , I guess it comes down to who you like or what good things you've heard about a tuner. CMS tunes are becoming very well regarded, with fords coming from interstate for mods and tuning, as well as a lot of cars coming from other top Sydney tune shops for retunes and more suitable mods fitted. I'm not saying don't go elsewhere, C&V , tunehouse, autotech ect are also great well regarded tuners... It's up to the customer

It's an old Hdi / Hybrid cooler, same size core as the monza... Heat soak city That lower pipe comes round like PW stage 1 piping, super long hot side, cold side comes off the top left, runs under headlight, again like PWs1
-
Take heaps of pics guys!
-
I do thesepiping kits mate, suit factory type intercoolers that use the stock piping. The idea is so you can run the CAI under battery intake on stock IC.

Pump them out! My BA was rolled and pumped to fit 305 semis... the same 305s fitted the FG no rolling or pumping... FG utes need w I d e rubber, 315 and some!

Fg Style Plenum Or Plazmaman?
RAP1D replied to TurboMick's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
All most poeple can do, is speculate, theres really only a few poeple that have realy messed with the FG motor to know how a plenum change, Im not saying smashed big numbers at them and what not, that's not hard and its always fairly predictable of the outcome... but to feel the acual changes hardware can make, especially in NA terms is altered and used to awesome effect. Basically plenum wise we have little to compare the stock plenum to... Nizpros has been hard to get a look at, but looks large in volume, almost Snort Eseries size. Theres smoothed out, opened up stock ones, though they are fairly ok inside stock, if its off why wouldnt you? The easy answer is a larger plenum will work, these motors take in so much air, the bigger amount of pressurized air the motor can take in, the morepower you will make. But, will they work enough to say, "yep, that's worth having" or "hmm yeah spose its quicker..." the stock is pretty darn good. The only way to really know , is to try a few... my heads coming off very soon so I'll have a poke around while there, try a few. -
Yes mate I can do that, though you just have to browse my own forum section to see to see a lot of CMS / Rapidsystems talk. I first met Joe about 7 years ago, he started tuning ED turbo that I had built, we went our separate ways until I started the FG. Joe never tuned my BA xr6t, that was always tuned by CVperformance with awesome results. Due to distance, CMS is a lot closer to me than cv so I've spent a lot of time with Joe. Joe has used my Fg for his R&D tuning, which has helped him gain a huge knowledge for the fine tuning of our cars. We have spent countless hours with my Fg on his dyno, spending hours and hours at night on small sections of tuning, a lot of areas that a lot of tuners see no need to change. We spent a few weeks , road tuning cam table changes, we would make some changes, see if it made any visible change on the dyno, then I would drive it in daily traffic over a few days to see if there was any accual feel or seat of the pants change... Usually there was, maybe boost came on sooner, midrange picked ect... Sometimes no change or worse, more lag lol but you never know without trying and living the the change in real life. One thing we, well I did, was kill the original g6 motor, no 6 rod out the side of the block! Now this wasn't a result of Joes tuning, it was running a tune of joes but I had it running ALOT more boost , that it was well out of the hands of Joes tune lol 35-40psi in fact. I ran it at 30psi for a few week, this was in my early days of running E85, through the xcal I could change fuel and timing to suit the extra boost, but really I could not go more than 28psi and have a decent AFR... 30psi would start to read 13:1 ( I have a very accurate AEM wide band 02 sensor gauge in the console, so monitoring afrs was never guesse work). Later on I tried a 35psi hit on the freeway, ran smooth but at 14:1, still felt stupidly powerful, frying the tyres at 120kays in 4th lol A few more big hits of 35plus psi gave a big lean misfire, like a big cough through the intake... Time to stop I thought until we can change the tune to command more boost. The turbo I used at this stage was a Garrett gt45/96r, low mounted , rapid v2 ic kit, custome exhaust 3.5inch, twin 044s ect... Nothing to fancy, just set up well. The next day I start it up and hear the tell tale knocking of a bent rod at idle... Drove it for a few more weeks ( very light knock) until it went bang around the corner from CMS The car sat in CMS for ages while I procrastinated about what motor I wanted and so on. My goal was a high compression motor, 10:1 maybe 11:1, tuned on E85 and running as much boost as we felt safe. But, rather than buy high comp pistons and see what happens, I chose a low Kay Egas Fg motor straight from a smashed taxi. The amount of guys that came in and laughed at the idea of a taxi motor for a turbo application was huge... But it's high comp mate, it'll ping blah blah lol Anyway, 10.7:1 is the comp , I used the g6 head and cams, so just the taxi bottom end, being only 20kay old and lpg, it was like new inside. As for the head, I'm no expert of porting heads but anyone that knows of the well renowned CMS ported E series heads, will understand how well Joe can make kws for a die grinder... So with my new teacher calling the shots, I ended up with sore hands and arms but an awesomely ported head. Anyway, end result is easy 460kw on a medium boost level (20psi) Awesome instant NA power at idle... Bang it half throttle at the lights and it arcs the tyres up befor boost comes on... Then boost hits and it's off. Back on topic, CMS tune and work on my car, they sell and promote my products, I promote and sell their tuning and mechanical work. Go there and get your car sorted and tuned the way you like it. All the tuners here are great, some you'll get along with better so best to get out there and pay em a visit and judge for your self Cheers Chris

Just ask to have the tune tweaked a bit more to your liking, though its most likely on the tame side due to you having to use low octane fuel. There are so many variables a tuner can play with to alter the way the car drives, I'm sure he wont mind spending some more time on the tune to make it more responsive.

We pushed 500wkws through this system but with no centre muffler... it sounded like a LOUD honda lol

Ah yeah those pumps are awesome... but we found them a bit tricky to fitand the filters popped off if they wernt on perfectly, and now my USA supplier is having dificulty getting them. They are apparently OEM pump in Chryslers SRT range Vipers. But, I've got 300lt Walbros now, they are a similar "turbine" design so are quiet and very efficient, and have the large outlet like the 340 does. Good choice for a basic E85 fuel system... Seimens 80lb and one of these pumps makes a nice mid to high 300kw E85 fuel system.

Power gain was picked up through the bigger/shorter intake, but each run power fell away due to heat soak.
-
Yes...and no I did one a few months ago , I had to remake the top of the hot side to clear the big 4inch intake. While I was doing it I made a few extra hot pipes to copy in bulk later on if their is a need for them. My battery swap also dosnt fit with the HDi 2.75in cold side pipe, so I made a short piping adapter to join my 3inch cold side (from V1 & V2 kits) to the HDi 2.5inch pipe, which sits nicely with the battery relocation. Heres some pics, we did befor and after dyno runs too but I'll have to dig up the data logging to find the power increase as I can't remember off the top of my head, it was fairly decent though. As it came in... and almost finished... dont have any pics of the finished intake on this pc, so I'll post them later.

and now 480+ on E85 CMS have had ALOT of E85 - XR6T experience lately, so if your keen to move to E85 , Joe knows his E85!

Whats A Better Injector 60 Or 80 Dekkas
RAP1D replied to Ridgey's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
LOL at this debate... so we've all decided they are wrong yet work so well... whats going on?? My car runs them, has awesome ecconemy, perfect idle, perfect start in hot and freezing showy mountains cold... I'll find the cold start vid I did and post it up, shows accual AFRs in the car as it starts and goes through its warm up. But sure the spray pattern doesnt look right for a multi valve head... but they work and work well, so for those that cant afford IDs or any of the modded EV14 rang, 80lbs are still a very good option. But in saying all this it did take Joe at Crescent Motorsport a fair amount of R&D on my car to get them running as perfect as they do.... but from this we have many many happy customers running 80s in BAs with 280wkws to FGs running 550wkws. And as Ive always said, befor buying injectors, speak to your chosen tuner and see what he/she likes to tune... some dudes just simply don't have the R&D time and long term access to the same car that we do, hence why some say drilled stockers are the go... its horses for coarses so to speak. -

Dan you'd see around 240wkws on a XR6T with E85 (summer blend pump) -
LSD, nah not yet, I run semi slicks on the rear so grip on the street isnt too bad... plus I use the EBC alot and just run around on lower boost I'll do the LSD when I go for tens, then it'll get a half cage so I can keep running more tens and not get booted out.

ooooh forgot to mention we have a few R&D plenums to test out too... but shhhh in that department for now
