  1. Happy Birthday Jamie XR6!

  2. I've had similar happen to me twice. The first time the turbo heat melted the VCT sensor wiring and the second time I blew the air intake to the turbo off.
  3. How do you spell revolting? Sorry FPV don't like the front ends at all. HSV have finally started to get rid of the airfix kit front end and now Ford are doing it.
  4. It usually take me around 1 hour - 2 hours. I use the 3 bucket method. One bucket full of suds and a bucket full of fresh water. Wash the wheels first dipping the lambs wool mitt into the fresh water bucket before dipping it into the suds bucket. This removes anything caught in your mitt that might scratch the car. After the wheels are done, tip those buckets out. Refill the fresh water and put suds in another clean bucket, not the one you used for the wheels. Also use another mitt and like the new bucket, never use this one on the wheels. After washing the car, I use a drying towel. I'll never let a chamois touch my paintwork. Chamois are only used for the dirty areas like the rims, inside the boot, enginebay and door seals. Once the car is washed and dry, I then go over it with a Quick Detailer and a microfibre cloth to top up the wax or sealant I have on the car. Plexus is used on the headlights, tailights and windows. Once again, this is applied with a microfibre cloth. The interior and leather gets done once a month.
  5. Yep, I'm keen if the price is reasonable.
  6. You could always fit one of these instead http://www.sunamiturbo.com/
  7. I've been thinking the same but didn't know who to go about it. Staying tuned for more info....
  8. XR6T in wet with TC on - safe XR6T in wet with TC off - fun XR6T in wet with Unichip/Edit and TC on - getting interesting XR6T in wet with Unichip/Edit and TC off - Scares the passengers XR6T in wet with Falkens, Unichip and TC off or on - Scares the driver
  9. I photoshopped it on to mine last night to see what it would look like. I don't like these lights at all. Though I'd have to wait until I've seen it in the flesh.
  10. So which one did you fit? I'm fitting my XR6T with a Autotechnica Fastline 888 this weekend. It only cost me $75 so if I don't like it I'll get rid of it. It's adjustable so I'm going to have it so it's only heard in the cabin.
  11. Are you talking about these ones? They will be available from http://cutsnakemotorsport.com.au at the end of the month for $297
  12. I'd doubt many of them would know what they are looking at anyway.
  13. Yes mate, remember you came out to Bondi to look at the exhaust I was selling.
  14. Not when the engine is at idle. At idle there is a slight vacuum.
  15. Yes you are correct. The reason for the 10mm hole is to make the venting air sound better as there is a bit more back pressure.
  16. I just got off the phone to Marcus (Envy) he was really helpful and I appreciate him spending the time to explain it to me. I even got to listen to his over the phone and I'm impressed, it sounds great. Thanks V8 FRD for putting me onto him.
  17. It's illegal alright LOL. You could always use the excuse that the hose fell off however I think it would be a good idea to plug the hose that you remove. So they would only have to look at it to realise what you have done. I'm keen on trying it but I would like to get some idea on whether it can cause any damage as I don't know whether guy that said the bov vent can suck air back in is right or wrong. I don't see how this could be the case as the same thing would be happening to any after market bov with a trumpet. Bain, it's the large return hose off the bov that goes back to the intake pipe. Just don't block off the pipe that goes from near the TB to the bov.
  18. It was suggested to me last night that instead of spending big dollars replacing the BOV, you can just disconnect the return hose (air outlet from bov back to the air intake) and plug it. I was told that this would make the bov able to be heard in the cabin without sounding too loud as it's now venting to atmosphere. Has anyone done this, and can anyone see this causing problems? The XR6T doesn't run a MAF so the ECU isn't going to miss the extra air blown back into the intake. It was also suggested by someone else that when you back off the intake manifold is reduced to a vacuum drawing the piston backwards in the bov allowing air to blow off and/or at idle it draws air in. So at Idle its drawing in some unfiltered air due to it being open to atmosphere. Is this true and what are peoples thoughts on the matter? I'd like to also hear from tuners in regards to their thoughts as well.
  19. It's the solid plastic air inlet pipe from the plenum astride the engine into the turbo. I grabbed some heavier duty clamps today and fit them this week. If these don't work, I'll throw a bit of Locktite pipe sealant around it to help hold it in place. That should helpks heaps hey Stang?
  20. LOL, Thanks for that. I should have proof read it before I hit send. I'll try double clamping it as Bain suggested. It's either that or maybe a couple of drops of Locktite on the hose.
  21. AWC are presently researching the vents on a Carbon Fibre XR6T bonnet. They are trying to produce proper scoops, however, the biggest problem they are having at the moment is the lack of clearance between the engine and the bonnet. A pic of mine with custom stripes. I have TURBO in black lettering on the side which isn't very clear in this pic.
  22. I've noticed since racking up 30 000kms I'm starting to find the air inlet hose to the turbo continuously works itself lose. I don't want to tighten down on the hose clamps too tight for fear of stripping the thread. This is something I've done before with Ford's thin clamps. I'm also not keen on paying big money for stainless pipes. I did this on my AUII and all it did was stiffen up the engine and create more vibration. This seems to be a common problem with them so how have other people dealt with this?
  23. Mate that's no good at all. I wouldn't worry about your warranty running out next April if it's not fixed. There is obviously a long paper trail to show that it's an on going problem and that they know there is a problem.
  24. No it won't create any issues with traction control. The only thing that I find is the traction control can't hold the car back as well as it did when it was standard.
  25. I thnk Motoring Fruit magazine did a comparo in their February issue.
