Fair point about the different price of fuels between 98 and 95 RON. That's a few dollars to compensate. I am getting about 11.2 l/100k each tank, but I'm doing nearly all freeway driving right now. A country trip when the car was new dropped it into the 9's. My MY03 was about 8.6 for the same trip. Keeping it off boost was relatively easy. I'd consider those best figures. The recommended fuel for the XR6T is 95 RON. Modding it of course will up that, but I'd hate to make it drink 91 - that's emergencies only for me, but at least it can. From MY03 onwards, WRX's need 98 RON. I used to carry some octane booster in the glovebox for emergencies away from the city. My wife can't understand me using the turbo in the T at all, so good luck with your missus.

I moved from a MY03 WRX wagon to a BF XR6T. Some things you would love: * smooth power from down low to the top end * lovely 6 speed auto and lovable engine * a brilliant interstate cruiser and good size for grown family * the lux sports leather seats are simply wonderful. No more numb bum after a long trip. Some things you might hate: * economy worse. I used to drive mostly freeways and am about 2 - 3 l/100k worse off in the T. That's around $15 a tank at current prices. * creaks, groans and build quality. I know the WRX forums list a lot of warranty problems, but they are more so for the Falcon. * resale on a WRX is still excellent. The T is dropping fast. I hate to suggest this, but a liberty GT wagon might be worth a look. They have a fair to good 5 speed auto. Not as good as the XR6T, but still nice.

7000KM. BF, 6sp auto, lux pack, side airbags, factory alarm. Only 3 things done so far under warranty. 1. 800km old (9 days old!) Valve spring broke. Poor idle and no power. Limp home 1km away. Wasn't driving it hard when it broke. Quick response from roadside assist and then tow to dealer. 2 days to fix (no springs in stock) 2. 1600km old Passenger foot scuff panel loose and unsecured. Could not open glovebox. 3. 7000km old (today) Dynamic Stability Control light would always come on after 10 minutes driving and stay on until engine stop. After restart the sequence would repeat. Start engine but just idle and light did not come on. Same day fix. They asked me if it had been edit flashed as they had seen it cause DSC fault before. Software reset fixed it so far. At this rate I will never have to wash my car. The dealer does it every time I've been there. Getting to know the service manager too well. Things that are going to be mentioned at 15,000 service: * The usual exhaust, suspension, steering looseness, clatter and grinding over speedhumps. Getting worse. Driving slower over speedhumps now to avoid hearing unrefined cacophony. * Annoying fuel cap release that sometimes won't re-engage. Things that haven't happened yet but expected: * brake shudder, handbrake ineffective. Minor things I fixed: * Boot emergency opener cable and end tag. Came adrift of useless velcro fastener and causing annoying rattle. * Roof lining edge not finished off properly. Tucked it under moulding. Occasional annoyances but won't bother to mention as 0% chance of being fixed: * hard to recline seat. Knurled knob awkward to reach and stiff to operate. * sun visors too low and on significant angle. Blocks road vision. * driver's seat too high * creases in luxury sport seats velour/leather facings * weak ineffective windscreen washers, tiny reservoir * tiniest bump for left foot rest. C'mon get serious. It's not a footrest, must be just a pad to rest my foot on.

Yeah thanks for that RAP1D. The new car lasted about 9 days before the engine failed. That's a slighty more important warranty issue than a missing wheel nut tool. Found out this morning it was a broken valve spring (front cylinder). Let's see what else broke. I can't imagine a valve stuck open is going to not cause any other damage. I am wondering if this car is going to be reliable enough to take to Adelaide in a couple of weeks. Kinda spoils the new car feeling doesn't it?

I had the brand new XRT6 for 2 days when I decided to visit the local car performance shop to get some locking wheel nuts. Went to put them on and found there were already a set on the new car. (ie fresh from factory) Didn't see an adapter for it anywhere of course. Then I read the manual which said if it came with locking nuts there would be an adapter tool in the glove box. It wasn't of course. Immediately started thinking about being stranded if I got a flat. E-mailed the dealer. No answer. Today I went to see if I could get the wheel off with just one nut on the wheel. (I had heard that you could rock it and loosen it.) No luck there. Then when I was removing the jack I heard something rattling in the jack base. There was the missing adapter. Damn. Now I have 2 sets of locking nuts. I can get my wheels off, and there goes my one and only thing to have as a warranty item so far. Just thought I'd tell the story in case someone got a chuckle from it or it saves someone the problem I thought I had. PS. When I picked it up I noticed that it had done 13KM. The average economy was in the 80's per 100K. Geez they must have thrashed it.

6 weeks ago I asked how long it took for an XR6T to be delivered from new. Now I know - six and a half weeks. Picking it up in the morning. (novated lease so no point in giving the price) In case the options make a difference to delivery times: * 6 speed auto * Luxury Interior Pack * Side Airbags * Alarm * Shockwave Blue. I've been reading these forums for a while now so I know what to expect in terms of faults and quality.

Compared to Japanese cars that are loaded with options, the Luxury Interior Pack is the best we can do. I'd highly recommend it - Ford might call it luxury, but it adds some essential items that most imports have anyway. The features list is still meagre on the Fairmonst Ghia compared to even a Mazda6. Of course the engine makes up for it in many ways It was the only way I could get Climate Control in the Falcon so the Luxury pack it was. I have had my XR6T Auto with Luxury Pack on order now for 5 weeks. Getting VERY impatient now.

I can imagine 6 weeks or more being about right at the moment. Dealer said there was a halt in XR6 production for a while to catch up on some Territories. My options would make it a custom build. Hope it arrives before my trip interstate in July though. And yes, the VW Jetta was a serious contender for a spot in my garage. I doubt I could explain why in this forum

Hi, Anybody with some recent experience with ordering a new XR6T? How long did yours take to deliver from the order? It's been a long time coming, but I thought that if I didn't order the T now I would never do it with the way fuel prices are going. So I did it..... now waiting for the fleet processes to churn. It better be worth it. I cancelled the Turbo Jetta after learning it was a 16 week wait. Broadmeadows is just up the road you see.... --------------------- OldnGrey. (kids do it to you)
