  1. Mines a MKII. It was off the very first of the MKII's built. What was the difference between MKI & MKII. Was it valve springs, as I don't think my MKII got them. Or was it due to Ford's ECU settings?
  2. Hi, I'm thinking of fitting a different intercooler which the only mod is a cat back exhaust system. I only at present want to put it on for the looks, but as time goes on I will begin to add further mods. My question is: can a aftermarket intercooler be run with the factory tune?
  3. Sometimes I question the stability of the Edit/Custom tune. I have had my T tuned by one of Australias highest regarded tuners where things like TC turning off etc is supposed to be fixed. When the tune was first done it was along with a few other issues. Every couple of weeks I have to reflash with the custom tune which fixes these issues. Within a couple of weeks these issues reappear, reflash etc etc etc! I do wonder if it these ECU's actually relearns key functions of info, which periodically need to be re-written. If this is true what other "key functions" like timing, fuel etc are also being effected! This leads back to the age old arguement piggyback v's edit. Edit is by far superior for performance, but maybe piggyback is more stable. I'm not looking for an argument or debate, just thinking allowed!
  4. Hey thanks for your comments. It appears that not many from this forum use AWC. They seem to be popular on other sites also with good comments. Looks like I will be placing an order shortly.
  5. Hey guy's. Considering modding the exterior of my T. I have noticed that AWC have the best available range. My question to those who have seen and/or used their product, what is the quality like. ie: fit to vehicle, finish prior to paint etc!
  6. Hi Guy's, I have found this thread very interesting. At present with factory tune, my T runs faultlessly @ 6psi. With CAPA's generic 8psi tune it actually peaks @ 11psi, and with the 10psi tune @ 15psi. The boost is very eractic with the needle all over the place. Could this actuator/spring be my problem?
  7. Something else that may help. When vehicle is cold it surges badley between 1500 & 2000 rpm only. Once warm no surging at any rev/speed.
  8. Thanks anyway. I think anyone who has a BA/BF knows that sound. Fords answer is "that's as good as it gets"!
  9. This had crossed my mind also! As you apply throttle to drive it up a slight step ie: concrete lip into a garage, the sound from the torque convertor sounds louder lately!
  10. Possibly, after shutting car down from outside of car you can easily hear the turbo still spinning. I have had Turbo Diesel 4WD's before and they sound far smoother to me. This afternoon coming home I paid a bit more attention to it. If on a hill with boost pressure showing on the gauge, the noise is there. Drop my foot off the go pedal, noise seems disappear in unisum with the needle falling. Apply throttle again, boost rises noise returns. This makes me think it's the turbo or something related to it. Can it sucking air somewhere possibly be making this sound?
  11. Can anyone help? My T has developed a strange noise. It sounds like a metallic rubbing noise that is quite prominent when it is cold. It is only there when the vehicle is under load. Light load when it’s cold, but requires more load with heat. Coming up a decent hill yesterday this noise was there for some time. Ambient was quite cool, boost gauge was around 2-3psi and auto was in top gear. Pulled car back into 3rd and the noise seemed to rise with the engine rpm. I’m guessing the torque converter? It started after I tried spooling up the turbo with my foot on the brake! Do these cars have a problem doing this? Also, after idling for a couple of minutes and the engine has been shut down you can still hear the turbo spinning. Is this normal? This sound is a similar rubbing/grinding noise as above only quieter. Your advise would be appreciated as Fords reply was “it’s under warranty, wait till it breaks”.
  12. Good idea! But I did try the search fuction and ya I did find some threads that started on the topic of trans coolers. But unfortuneatly they seemed to go off the topic at hand and therefore never really answered the question! If you could help point me in the right direction it would be a great help!
  13. Hi, just got myself an MKII T Auto. From what I have read it appears the first place to start mods is the auto trans. I plan to get a CAPA Flasher which seems to have a positive affect on the trans. So I thought I would try to reduce the heat level. I am looking at fitting a Davis Craig trans cooler or is the genuine Ford unit OK? The most logical position to fit it is directly behind the main (upper) grille. I don't what to have to add fans and switches etc. Do you feel that this position would be OK, and would you need add some trans oil to maintain correct levels and if so how? Any advise will be appreciated!
