the stock actuator is rated at 4.5 psi. running this at 15 psi is way out of its opperating duty cycle. to command 15 psi on the program its around 100% howerver if u fit a 12 psi actuator its back to 50%or so, making it easier to controll boost. there are other reasons also. im no expert.
if u have an edit/ flash tuner u dont need anything. the factory fitted boost control solenoid is run by the computer, the only problem is that if u command too much boost it will spike. that's why we mod the wgate so as to hold steady at 15 18 20 psi. you dont need an actuator to run more boost but if u want 15 psi u will need one. on mine im running a bleed valve and I can get 9 psi with no spike but if I go any more it hits 15 and dropps off to 12.
as of april 06 all T's share the same rods and valve springs as the phoon motors so guessing it is a level playing field if you have one of these cars ←
parts needed for safe 300 rwkw panel filter...k&n 2nd cai zorst with a good cat intercooler big as possible injectors must have fuel pump valve springs and a good tuner. depending how u go u may need some wastegate/actuator mods. did I say a good tuner
I agree with rapid on this one the stock cooler has a preassure drop. when mine was stock 15psi at the compressor got me 10 at the motor. I dont think that at lower boost levels its that bad, it gets worse the more u pump into it, eg 18 in 12 out. mabee u just need more boost added in to the tune.
I havnt had the time to fit the gizzmo today but I did fit an old bleed valve after lunch and did some testing. 4.5 psi no bleed up to 9/10 psi with no spike. after that 2.5 turns out it goes to 15psi with a big spike. I have set the bleed valve to 9 psi and it gets up to 11psi in 4th with no clutch slip. im happy for now as now I can give it a bit without smoking clutch material. using half turns I can get 6 7 and 8 soild psi. then 9 sipkes a bit, not too bad for old school boost control.
yes im going to use a gizzmo ebc so I can lower the boost as my clutch is not able to hold the power. the gizzmo has a simple 2 wire installation so I dont think I will stuff it up
I have searched for a bit but could not find the answer to my question. the standard boost solenoid is, as far as I can see a one hose in one hose out system. if I remove the hoses and connect them to my one in one out boost controllers solenoid and leave the standard one there not connected will this be ok. does the computer get any readings from the stock boost solenoid. can I just unplug and remove the standard solenoid replacing it with my boost controllers solenoid. any help would be much appreciated.
it should have vacume at idle at all times. even with the vac hose off the bov mine still shows vacume. if u have no vacume the motor will not run or u will have a verry high idle.
I have an unregistered account from 2002 but when I moved house I didnt have internet for a year so it ran out. it would be nice to find the posts I made then when I was waiting for a mk1 ba turbo. lucky the deal fell through cos I would have has a t5.
its on the bf1 and 2. dont quote me on this but I think the dsc is only active when you have the brakes on. stopping you from sliding sideways by adding and subtracting brakes from individual wheels.
to my knowlage the bf is one press 1.5 seconds tc off, light on one press 5 seconds till flashing, light on, tc and dsc off no press, light off, tc and dsc on
I think that a bf foon would probly be enough with the 6 speed auto to satisfy anyone even without the edit, its a nice package big brakes good style nice wheels spend a few grand on the t and u will have a mean streeter I have seen the typhoon get around 280 rwkw with edit only, it depends on who tunes it also.
from my experience. my bf xr6t made 255.5 rwkw fully stock on 9 psi, stock airfilter and no 2nd cai, edit only. after a bigger cooler and injectors were added the stock xr6turbo clutch gave out, around 275/280 rwkw. I think its the high torque output that rooted the clutch. is yours a manual or auto. a bf foon with a 6 speed auto and an edit only would be a sweet ride also
