  1. Well, I remember immediately looking at the gear shifter / ICC area thinking it had come from around there, not behind me.
  2. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on what this could have been. Stock standard 2012 FG XR6T MKII, ZF auto, 38,000KM Rolling over a give way into a 100kph zone I floored it and when it shifted into second gear there was a very very loud bang / thud from the gearbox. It continued to drive fine, so slowed down and floored it again but this time it shifted fine into second, and hasn't done it since. I'm wondering if I should service the transmission, its only done 38,000KM but is 5 year old oil in there?
  3. Cheers dude thanks for the reply, so it sounds like the ZF's don't need the shift points adjusted when tuning... that's awesome news! No more HPF as I moved back to NZ so need to find a decent tuner here at some point anyway. The car only has 38,000KM on it, and I get a ride to work so only drive it on the weekends so the k's will stay pretty low! Hoping to keep it for a long time, when I have some spare $ will throw some mods at it and a tune but really just want to keep it reliable - Was a bit disappointed with the BA tuning experience and then again when the gearbox let go, hoping not to repeat that one I'm dyslexic and cannot turn off simple functions in tapatalk
  4. Hi guys A few years ago I had a 2003 BA XR6T with BTR 4 speed auto that I had tuned by HPF in Melbourne. It was my daily driver and when I got it back from them at first it thumped badly through all the gears even when cruising in 50kph areas. I went back to them and they told me this was expected and it was a feature of the tune adjusting the shift points to try and save the gearbox from the extra torque. As the tune only made around 211rwkw and it was my daily driver I asked them to set the shift points back to factory, and it was fine for over a year, until after one weekend of driving it harder than normal it started slipping and so I had it rebuilt. After that whenever I wanted to give it a hard time I put it in Perf mode and it seemed to be happy days, then eventually sold it another year later. I now have a 2012 FG XR6T MKII with ZF 6 speed auto, and am interested in getting it tuned, but wanted to get some feedback around adjusting shift points / harsh shifting, is that just something that is needed for the older 4 speed, or is it the reality of chasing more power? I love how smooth they drive with the stock shift points... just hoping I can 'have my cake and eat it too' haha. Cheers
  5. Happy Birthday timburns23!

  6. Fixed! It was the plugs, I just put in the set I ordered from ebay that you provided and now I can't get it to backfire at all. Thanks a lot! Here is what the less than 1000km new genuine Ford ones look like: cheers fellas ! Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
  7. Wow thanks for all the replies! I'll order a set of the pre-gapped plugs (SK20R7) and try that first then, fingers crossed!
  8. Hi guys Hoping someone might be able to give me an idea where to start with this... 2003 BA XR6 Turbo, 125000KM. I am the second owner since I got it at 120000KM where it was in stock standard form around 8 months ago. A week after owning it I took it to HorsePower Factory and got a basic custom dyno tune, cold air intake, with the factory fuel injectors and valve springs left alone. All was well for 3000KM and then the gearbox started slipping, so I had the BTR 4 speed rebuilt to OEM spec less than 2000KM ago. When I got it back the car was going great, feeling a lot of responsive and agressive. A few weeks later, it started missing at idle so I swapped the coil packs and spark plugs for new genuine Ford ones. Since then, it idles perfectly, but I now get a loud backfire at wide open throttle when shifting into 2nd. And just now tonight I noticed it is missfiring fairly badly around 50% of the time when WOT from 80kph... sometimes its a short missfire and it clears and keeps pulling hard, othertimes its spluttering really badly so I back off the throttle. Tonight was the first time I had tried WOT from 80KPH since doing the plugs/coils a month ago. Aside from that, it drives great as my daily driver, and sits on 110kph towing my dirtbike trailer no worries. I have checked all the air intake hoses and everything is still in place since I did the plugs and coils. I am wondering if it is something to do with the spark plug gap? In my receipt from HPF it shows "re-gap spark plugs as required"... so perhaps these new OEM ones aren't fitting the tune? Or perhaps I have a faulty coil pack, which would be bad luck as they are brand new. Unfortunately I threw out the old coil packs and plugs. Is it common to modify the spark plug gap when tuning these? Should I just ask HPF to re-gap some new plugs for me? Thanks in advance for any ideas you have, love driving this car and looking forward to sorting this out. Cheers, Tim
