Should have said this depends on your driving application - for some circumstances you might want the higher end DBAs, which I will likely do anyway next time.

^WHS I've got two Falcons and they definitely need the front end in good nick and need good quality rotors. My EL binned three sets of cheap rotors in quick succession, with shuddering as early as 4000km. One set from car yard, two from mechanic. I then put slotted DBAs (from memory they were 4000s but can't 100% remember) in myself, and so far nearly 50,000km with not the slightest hint of shudder. The BA I got about a year ago and it had RDAs in it. Terrible shudder and squeak developed after a decent brake work out. New DBA rotors in, perfect ever since. I was going to go T3 on the BA, but a local parts place had standard DBA rotors dirt cheap that they had ordered in for a no-show. Worth a shot at the price, and have been fine. Time will tell, but seems to suggest the most important thing to do is get a good quality brand. Haven't touched the rears - must be the only idiot driving around with slotted rears and non-slotted fronts!

Yeah my new core (BA) took weeks from Garrett last year. At least, like yours, old was still running!

Before I replaced my cat, factory cat was single inlet, twin outlet and different to n/a. I have a feeling they changed the setup at some stage - mine is Feb 2004. After market cat will be much cheaper and an exhaust place can use a Y piece to split into existing twin pipe cat back (this is all assuming the rest of your system is still factory spec).

Fair call, but less convincing from a hospital bed!

Maybe load it up in reverse! ?

And 5 wheel nuts is way too many... ☺️

A dog act indeed! A colleague of mine recently had her phone crash during an update because of insufficient storage - was chock full of two years of family photos. Phone wouldn't boot and she couldn't access her photos even when connecting the phone to PC. Samsung told her they could reimage her phone, but would lose all photos and there was nothing else they could do. I offered to give it a try, on the basis that she was assuming she had lost everything already. Flashed a rom off Sammobile, without wiping the phone's storage. Phone booted perfectly and was then able to copy off all of the photos. Pretty average that samsung couldn't do that. Hope your scenario can be recovered. I agree that when it's that important, best to go to the pros rather than tinker yourself. My in laws had a bunch of photos encrypted by ransom ware and wanted me to fix - yeah, nah.

That's good it's ok!

Could you grab some thread sealant at repco or something? If I'm understanding what you are suggesting, you would be running the turbo bone dry and would kill it pretty quickly. I got the BA kit from GJ drivelines. Mechanic fitted for me while he was doing some other work and afterwards it was leaking. He said the tension in the braided line was twisting the connection enough to cause a leak. He re-routed the line and used some thread sealant, which sorted it all out.

The "she'll be right mate" attitude

Just caught a taxi in Adelaide - prius dash lit up like a Christmas tree with warning lights, big message saying check hybrid system, rotors warped, cv joints making a racket and windows down cos air-con dead. Driver was like 'yeah, should probably get a new one sometime"

I reckon I've seen that one a couple years ago when we lived in Rads. Can't be too many white ELs with B-series turbo motors getting around Adelaide. We were both drying our cars at the car wash at Gilles Plains. Looked like two stock EL XR6s with just tints and exhausts, until he lifted the bonnet... My engine bay looks a bit tame by comparison:

The red door stripes are now pink! I've got some GLi ones to spray so I don't wreck the originals. Wouldn't mind turning this one into a project, especially as it's pretty clean inside and out. Some days I think I should keep it original, other days I start googling superchargers... These were new when I was getting my Ps, and I loved them. Bought this one 5 years later.

Still looks alright after 18 years.

There was a n/a BA parked next to my BA turbo the other day with stickers/decals galore, altezza tail lights, huge stereo, ridiculous rims, etc. Couldn't help but think he'd spent about, oh I don't know, the difference between a n/a and a turbo BA on all the bling. I know what I'd prefer.

I had our two year old for a while saying "Vrooooooooooom... Ptshhhhhhh" whenever he played with cars. Had childcare staff a bit confused.

Are you serious? It's just behind that handle you crank to start the car. When pouring water in, make sure you don't get any on the cassette player fuse. [emoji51] Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

My 5 year old: "I was colouring in this picture when I was in the car and mummy made me colour outside the lines. She was using the boost." Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

I had our 2 year old and 5 year old there too - much fun had by all! Enjoyed the Ute dirt race thing, but funny how the announcer kept amping up the Expensive Daewoo vs Ford angle, but almost no one cares anymore. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Always wanted a transmission service kit for a V6 Falcon...

No obvious vacuum leaks, at least not with my skills! Tried unplugging the TPS and the thing went nuts like it did the other day. Pulled the codes and got very similar results as above - only difference was P2111 (throttle actuator control system - stuck open) instead of P2110. All other codes exactly the same (had cleared beforehand of course) Given unplugging the TPS gave almost identical behaviour, I reckon I'll throw a tps at it as suggested and see how I go. Thanks again for all the advice - I'll let you know what happens.

I lost some on a different car a while back, but just went past a brake place and they had a few sizes. If they charged me it was only a couple of bucks.

Grinned my head off when they first drove the unicorn - sounded amazing. Old man is building a Cobra with a AU 220kw v8 - keep telling him to boost the bloody thing but he won't listen

Thanks. I reckon I'll check for leaks with some carby cleaner and then grab a tps if don't find any leaks. I couldn't find a Torque output that would give me pedal or throttle position, with engine off or on (they were all reading zero). However in testing that, I noticed if I flicked the pedal briefly in neutral (enough to raise the rpm by a couple of hundred) the revs would surge after I'd released the pedal up to about 2000 rpm and then slowly die back down. I reckon that backs up the theories you guys have re vacuum leak or throttle related electronic issue. I wouldn't have thought blocked exhaust or ignition components would behave like that.
