Yeah it sucks choosing frames! Especially when you are a big bald ugly bastard like me and at some point in the process realise that rolling yourself in sprinkles doesn't make you ice cream! Not sure on lens differences but choice/brands of frames seems to be main differentiator. I would buy sunglasses online, but everyday glasses I reckon you need to try them on. You (and medicare) pay for the eye test, so any place should just write it up and hand it over if you ask.

Just go to specsavers - maybe frames are slightly lower quality in the long run (ie my frames seem to get a bit tired after a few years in terms of plastic deterioration compared to expensive frames). But you get plenty of good choices and save HUNDREDS. Lenses seem good quality and after sales service is good. You'll probably get two pairs for not much out of pocket. And anyway, there's a good chance you will lose, step on or otherwise damage them after a couple of years or want new ones anyway, so longevity isn't too important. Don't get the self-tinting ones because you look creepy. Anti-reflective coating is worth the 50 bucks or so.

Haha I ordered bike wheels from the UK at 9pm on a Thursday and received them midday the next Tuesday. But it takes 2 weeks to send a birthday card to Adelaide from Canberra. Toll have been the worst for me lately too. Dealing with them after a missed delivery is appalling. Ends up being easiest to collect from their depot, which misses half the point of buying it online in the first place. Speed of mail delivery aside, I love it when places send Australia post. If you aren't home, it's just a quick trip to the local post office, which at our local shop is open late.

How do you find the SAAS gauges? I need some new gauges and looking for something reasonable not too pricey. Plenty of other priorities at the moment so don't want to drop $600 on top end gauges just now!

Writing a job application and for consistency did a find and replace to replace "staff" with "employees". What I hadn't realised was that in some places I had used "staff member", which was now "employees member". Ended up with some sentences that now read "I pay individual attention to each employees member" and "employees member was acting inappropriately in the workplace". Good thing I proof read it before submitting...

I'd be in that if a cruise got off the ground. Based in Canberra so the cruise scene is pretty quiet...

In the past few weeks I've fixed a loose door seal that kept falling out in the back, refitted a fog light that was pushed in and fitted new front sway mount bushes and links. Also had a stripped diff bush bolt fixed and new centre tailshaft bearing fitted. All small stuff but has turned the car from a niggly POS to feeling like it just left the factory.

I think the bushes give a set adjustment (ie x degrees) but the arms are fully adjustable within a range. Not 100% sure on the shims - I'm pretty sure you would use in conjunction with the bushes to get the exact adjustment you want and then would have to re-install different ones if you wanted to fine tune the adjustment later. I don't think this would be an issue with the replacement arms. Someone else might be able to chime in and confirm or deny that.

I think you can go either a whole new adjustable arm, or new bushes that have a set correction. I reckon go for the arms, as both ends will be new and don't need to muck around with fitting new parts to existing arms. Can then fine tune the adjustment more easily.

You could just adjust your driving style to suit. And trailer reversing would suddenly become easier.

Probably has had a few wind ups with sudden lift off! Is there a way to check timing chain without pulling the cover off?

Thanks. Yeah, not too worried about U1900. Checked all the manifold and turbo bolts the other week and all good. I haven't been bashing it so unlikely with the timing chain, but you never know! Maybe the wife is doing skids without me knowing.

Yes and no. The occasional ridiculous roughness hasn't come back, except for the once after the work above. So I don't think those thongs fixed it, but seems to have gone away on its own. Generally at idle it is still very slightly off - but not enough that anyone except me would notice. I feel like there is a slight roughness on light throttle, but smooth as under heavier load. Overall, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a slight vacuum leak somewhere. As much as the perfectionist in me hates it, it is probably best to leave it and see if it gets worse. If it does, it will be a lot easier and cheaper to diagnose! Also have some wear in the centre tailshaft bearing which is getting fixed next week. Might be worth seeing how that goes as it could explain what I'm feeling under light acceleration.

Well after my $3200 quote to fix the rear clunk in the BA, another place fixed it for $240. Was a stripped centre diff bush bolt. 600km since repair and all good. Centre tailshaft bearing also worn, but they said needs doing soonish rather than urgently. Reckon I'll do it asap though cos I was already feeling a tad suspicious of it at highway speeds.

That's cylinder 3 misfire. Just to eliminate the possibility, I'd swap cylinder 3's coil and plug with another cylinder just to make sure there's not a fault with the new stuff. If the fault remains and follows the cylinder you moved that coil and plug to then that's your issue. Costs nothing to try. I only say that because I had a similar issue with my BA. My mechanic used cheap coils and so the problem remained.

I think you could use 16" steel AU2-FG onwards rim no worries. The tyre fitted would be higher profile so the outside diameter wouldn't be too far out. These would be a dime a dozen at the wrecker. As Keith said, this would be to get you home or to the tyre shop only.

What Ralph said. Australian Consumer Law is your friend. Warranty length means nothing - it's about what can be reasonably expected of the product. I've found if you email the company, explain politely what you are entitled to under the ACL and then ask them to resolve, you often get a good outcome. If not, you have a nice trail to email your state's consumer affairs. They will usually then contact the supplier on your behalf if they think you have a case.

From memory when I replaced all mine, it was only the heater hoses that were different - the Turbo you have to cut the hose and install T piece. Everything else was identical. Are you sourcing a kit or something? I got a Gates kit and would have been fine for n/a falcon - just don't cut the heater hoses! I've got an 04 BA XR6T by the way
