  1. Haha well played! I'm off to renovate the lawn and then renovate the dishes. The wife is out at the shops renovating our stock of food.
  2. It's not a new home or a home renovation
  3. Got a muffler on the blink and given both are original are therefore 17 years old, I'm thinking a new cat back system will be most cost-effective. Anyone had any experience with the Xforce S-series 2.5" system (dual pipe running side by side to twin tip, not the quad system)? For a bolt in factory replacement and for about $500 it is looking good to me. Keen for a slightly meatier sound than stock without getting drony or scaring the neighbours' kids.
  4. Anyone know much about heater controllers? I've got a gas heater with a cable that runs under the house and up the wall to the controller, but I want to move the controller. There is a light switch above it and a light switch near where I want to put it. So I'm thinking that instead of running it up the wall from under the floor in the new location requiring me to somehow drill through the horizontal stud in the wall, I could extend the cable into the roof space and run it back down the wall in the new location. Existing light switches should mean no drilling and all I need is longer wiring. The connection to the controller is RJ12 so would it be as simple as just getting an RJ12 extension lead (male to female) to run the extra length? Or am I over-simplifying it?
  5. I agree they have come a long way. However still a work in progress. I've had a rental Rio and one of the Kia SUVs recently. Interiors looked good, but plastics were still poor (feels like everything in the door flexes as you close it). Sat nav/entertainment systems were mega glitchy and autos were horrible. In fairness though both had done about 50k as rentals.

    Help!?

Did lol though - creates account, after 5 minutes has a crack at the site developer and then pisses off again.
  7. Welcome! Haha used to drive a disco 2 td5 for work a bit. Slow as heck but good off road and towing didn't bother it! XR6T will seem like a total weapon by comparison! Did a bunch of off road training switching between a Cruiser and a Defender. At 6'2 I had to bend my knees in the Defender and use the pedals with the sides of my feet. But yes. Buy a turbo falcon. Tomorrow.
  8. I can't quite get past the original Kia marketing campaign when they first here... Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiia!!!
  9. Could you cut the connector off in the car and replace it with a Jaycar etc option? Ie use a generic plug and socket?
  10. I used to use cheap micro usb cables and not really care - big deal if you get the odd dud and I'm usually charging overnight. But with usb c devices now charging up to 5A I haven't been brave enough to buy cheap cables.
  11. Yeah that's what I figured. Reckon I'll rip it off next time I clean it.
  12. Yet no one wishes they were going for a ride...
  13. Nice write up. Does anyone wrap their filter in heat shielding? I ended up getting my mechanic to install my line at the same time the new turbo went in. He wrapped the filter but it looks crap.
  14. I'd have a go at the o2 sensor then I reckon. A vacuum leak is more likely to make you lean rather than rich, as extra air is being sucked in. These cars have a pressure sensor rather than a MAF and are less likely to be impacted by getting dirty. (I think this also means they are less susceptible to leaks, as they are measuring overall intake system pressure including leaks, rather than air passing a particular point like a MAF where air entering/leaving after that point is a problem). Leaks before the turbo, eg airbox, shouldn't matter.
  15. Thanks, just ordered exactly that. Pretty annoyed at the $800 price given I've bought Falcon ones for 80 bucks before. Bosch were about $140 so have saved about $1300. They actually had one direct plug version still in stock, so I bought that and one universal. The connection kit looks neat.
  16. Thanks mate. Haha Rab. My old man once discovered that the tail lights on his 76 Alfetta sedan were the same part number as the ones from a Countach. I guess I learnt to drive in a part-Lamborghini...
  17. Oooh hang on - looks like I can buy direct from Bosch. They didn't seem to come up as an option at various places. $140 each.
  18. Anyone have any experience with either AFI or RAE for sensors? Looking for new pre-cat oxygen sensors for the Kluger. Genuine is about $800, these are about $200. There are genuine Densos on eBay for a similar price, but I'm thinking buying quality aftermarket (if AFI/RAE are quality) from a reputable supplier is a better bet than "genuine" from eBay.
  19. Have you scanned it for codes? What fault code are you getting? I'd check that before throwing cash at it.
  20. No worries honey, I'll be inside in 5 minutes. Just got to refit this heat shield and crossover piping...
  21. I agree. Upstream sensor is the one helping adjust fuel trims etc and is most important to be functioning at full capacity. Downstream is basically to make sure the cat is working, so leave it till it chucks a check engine light. Upstream one would be subject to to ton of extra heat so would have thought downstream will last longer too.
  22. Nah they own a house. From memory it's own a house, or smashed avo. But no one can afford both.
  23. "I need your cheapest cigar. For a friend."
  24. Want to smoke test a suspected vac leak and thought I'd try the old blow smoke into the intake system trick. Got a strange look when I stopped at the IGA on the way home, in full suit and tie, and asked for the cheapest cigar they had.
