  1. Garmin Forerunner 235 sports watch thing. Tried running with it for the first time today - is nice having lots of data. Just wish you could customise the names of the heart rate zones so I could call the top one 'Danger to the Manifold'.
  2. "May I ask why you didn't put forged internals into it?" Because diff bushes and coils.
  3. I'm not in Sydney, but still found Matt could do me a better price than anywhere local even once shipping was added.
  4. Afternoon Keith! Actually happy to have a car problem today. Car has had an intermittent rough idle for ages, and occasionally (once every few months) goes absolutely nuts when put into gear. Turning it off and on again sorts it. Haven't tried too hard to find it as the EL idled rough for the whole time I had it and absolutely nothing would fix it, so am a bit over chasing rough idles. Anyway, pulled in the driveway last night and flicked the high beams on to check the globes were OK as I needed to order a new high/low globe on one side. Idle was already a touch rough and noticed the idle went rougher as soon as I turned high beam on. If I'm in gear and lights on, idle is rough. Lights off, idle goes smooth. At least now I have something repeatable and predictable to go chasing. Think I need to start checking the alternator and earthing as the battery is less than a year old (and issue existed before that).
  5. Do you mean different on the left front to the right front? Or different on the front compared to the back? I'm only guessing, but I'm wondering if the tyre on each sidehas a slightly different outside diameter to the other side, the wheel speed sensors will give different results and the computer then gets nervous that something is whacko and places limitations on the trans.
  6. Thanks for that! The exhaust place around the corner said they would chuck it in for 50 bucks this morning. Ended up doing that because I'd been promising the kids I would get cracking on a cubby house this weekend and didn't want to piss more time away on the car. Probably for the best - they had a pig of a time getting it to clear the cradle. For what I want, that exhaust is absolutely perfect. Sounds great at WOT and on overrun, but subtle in normal driving. Slightly meatier idle but not intrusive at all. Just need to muck around with the tailpipe alignment a bit.
  7. Xforce S-series twin 2.5". Flange locations same as stock though.
  8. Yep angle grinder FTW. Exhaust was cactus anyway. I think you might be right Jet - I'll be looking for a hoist in the morning for installation. Or side pipes...
  9. Clearance for installation is my issue. So yes that was me airborne going backwards, trying to stick a very precise landing! Might park on the lawn and dig a big hole. When I moved the car without the rear section, 4 year old reckoned "that sounded awesome". Brought a tear to my eye.
  10. could tip the car on its side I spose...
  11. Yeah that would be nice! I might try putting it on ramps and then jacking to full suspension extension - hopefully will give me enough ground clearance.
  12. Stock cat-back out, new centre section in. Bolts were seized in the rear (I could remove the nuts) and were fouling so I cut the pipes in front of the rear muffler to give me more scope to wriggle it out. Unfortunately though the reverse is now true - can't seem to get the front of the rear section through the gap between the rear suspension and the body. Car is backed up to maximise clearance. Best angle of approach looks to be with the exhaust angled right down, but I don't have clearance for that on axle stands. Anyone successfully fit a rear section exhaust to a B series sedan without a hoist?
  13. Exactly. For an everyday, quiet driver it will just seem like a taxi. Plus the traction control will cut the fun if she accidentally gives it a boot-full. My wife drove our XR6T for about a year, and then came home one day with a big smile - "I think I found the boost!"
  14. That sucks! Those dates look good for me. I'll lock them in before anything else gets booked!
  15. Yeah I'm interested in that if the timing works (my timing, the car's timing is fine)
  16. Haha must be something in the water. I've called a few tuners this week. Once I fit the cat-back (already has a 100 cell) I'm thinking I might go for a tune that makes it a bit stronger around town, but without trying to chase big or quick numbers. Canberra is an interesting place for that though. One guy sounded OK but was very expensive. One guy sounded great, but still seemed pricey to me. He was using HP Tuners though, so saves me needing to buy an xcal. The third guy was both expensive and FOS. He misheard me and thought the cat had just gone on (has been on for 18 months) and told me I will get an engine light for overboost within a week, even if I drive it lightly. (I'm not arguing that there isn't the potential for issues on full throttle or sudden lift off.) He also said that because of that mod the car is already making an extra 30-40 kw (I must have a magic ECU) and that he couldn't tune it for less than the car naturally wants to make. Which is about 300 apparently and so I also need to do injectors, pump, cooler and valve springs. Immediately. Before it detonates in my driveway. Oh, and he could well find other supporting mods he needs when to do once he starts, in which case he will ring me. Ideally I would get it tuned here for simplicity if I want future changes or have any issues to troubleshoot, but given the cost and poor quality of work I've seen here to date, the car might need a trip interstate sometime.
  17. Bought one of those cheap tool cabinet/drawers on castors at Repco that they have on special every few weeks. It is small but I'm surprised at the quality and it was dirt cheap. It would be no good for anyone too serious, but is perfect to keep a bunch of sockets, spanners, pliers, gloves, wd40, multimeter, etc. to easily roll around. My garage is tiny and full of the trailer, bikes, mowers, etc. and so to be able to roll my most common tools out to the car port or driveway will be great.
  18. Well hello there. Ended up $399 delivered to my door in less than 48 hours. Will now be 48 weeks until I find the time to fit it.
  19. All fixed. In all serious though, thanks for the tip. Is nice when people have advice based on real experience.
  20. I bought one of the aux harnesses to plug in behind the fuse box for audio. But I also used the power cables in the harness for powering a couple of accessories. Added bonus of not having to hack into factory wiring.
  21. One of these days I reckon!
  22. I'm in Adelaide now. Should have driven so I could get a sneaky tune.
  23. Yeah the whole "at what point does life begin" question is important I think. I don't know, and therefore think it is best to take the safe option and assume an unborn baby is a life and no different to say a two year old. It is still a pretty horrible situation for someone with an unwanted pregnancy though. It must be hard whether someone chooses to terminate or keep a baby in less than ideal circumstances.
  24. Local brake place wanted to charge me freight to get HPX front pads in for standard BA calipers, even though they stock QFM and actively push them! Wanted to supply for $150 or fitted for $300! Next call was Race Brakes Sydney.
  25. Thanks for that! Sounds perfect for what I want. I had the EL pretty loud which was fun for a few weeks but just got annoying after that. Kept setting off car alarms at my work, and the wife kept getting "heaps sick miss" comments from her students at school. I've done the cat already so exhaust should be sorted then to cover me now, plus any future plans.
