Strange one. Drain valve is wide open, so the float valve is always open. If I manually tip the float, the water shuts off fine. If I turn the aircon on, the drain valve shuts properly and doesn't leak. But if the unit manually does a drain and refill after being off for a bit (to refresh the water) the drain valve stays open. Tech time I think - suspicious it is a control board issue. At least I cleaned it, checked the pad condition and cleaned the gutters while I was up there.

Morning all! Up on the roof for me this morning - evaporative cooler dumping water continuously when it is off. Hoping to find something obvious and simple like a blockage or float valve adjustment. But it stops flowing and works fine when the unit is powered on, so I'm thinking something in the control electronics is stuffed.

Thanks! Main problem was that there was a noggin between where my cables went in behind the monitor and out below the desk. Cut out a chunk of plasterboard, drilled through the timber, dropped the cables in, patched it up. Then it turns out one end of my HDMI cable was toast. Might test first next time... Yeah Home Mini. Came free with my phone. Mainly just use it as a speaker, but has got me using Google Assistant on my phone more.

Slapped together a desk and chucked a monitor on the wall this week. While looking after the kids. Wife is away and should be impressed when she gets back.

4 year old from the back seat: "Dad, after this traffic light can you activate the turbo speed?" Moments after the light goes green, in a voice like he was relaxing into a hot bath: "Ahhhhhhh.... That's better"

Wow my blood pressure went up just watching that. I would have made sure he saw me photograph his plates, photograph his face and then stood by his wife while I called the cops. *window not wife haha But yeah, she needs to make some choices about where her life is heading too!

Probably having a look at a mate's Kia SUV tonight that has a clunking after taking foot off brake when stopped. Just had front brake pads replaced and noise started immediately after. Place that did the job had a look but sounded a bit useless and the problem remains. I was planning to have a look at the bolts holding the caliper brackets to the suspension, checking and greasing the slide pins and maybe lubing where the pads slide. All with the proper brake products of course. Might also check pads are firmly in place and can't slip around. Could be loose wheel nuts too, but you'd hope not if the place had the car twice. Any other immediate thoughts on cause? I'm going to assume it's not drivetrain or suspension related at first, given the issue arose after pad replacement.

Interesting stuff. Was a nice surprise to get a few neat features in the AEM, given I only switched brands to reduce the risk of future headaches. I'll post up if I have any future issues. This one uses the 4.9 sensor too. Got to hand it to Amazon though - refunded the Innovate no questions asked, even return postage. Their scripted sympathy was amusing though: "Dear Andrew. I certainly understand how it feels when your Innovate Motorsports MTX-L Wideband AFR gauge stops working properly." Do you understand? Really?

They do. Some people think that due to the way the Innovate controls the heating it kills sensors but I find that hard to believe, especially in such a short timeframe. But my sensor died so I played it safe and tried a different one!

Wideband installation Mk 2. Those of you on the Snowys cruise will remember my wideband chucked a sensor error after about 30 mins of decent driving. A much easier job when you already have all of the wiring , relays and firewall holes in place! I switched from Innovate to AEM given discussions here previously about the Innovates eating sensors. Maybe there is something in that, maybe not but my sensor died so I thought I'd try something else. Good feelings about the AEM so far. Is shallower so was easier to find a decent spot for it, plus the wiring is simpler. Still has output to connect to other devices eg HP dongle. Apparently has a resistor to adjust calibration as it ages and so doesn't require regular free air calibration (although you can do this). Biggest win is that you can switch between AFR, Lamda and % plus other settings from the gauge - doesn't need a serial cable plugged into a laptop like the Innovate. Main downside is it looks a bit Skyline spec for my liking.

Haha - we did agree on most things, which the tiler said was rare. The mirror over the bath is staying - it's the front of a storage cabinet recessed into the wall. Mirror should bounce some of the light from the window into the room. But yeah a tv there would be sweet!

Good point Rab - BCB may have been suggesting a mirror on the ceiling rather than asking where the ceiling was!

I wanted a ceiling, but the wife said it will look like sh!t... Haha yeah - ceiling and cornices done now. Just needs hand towel rail, a couple of robe hooks and architraves fitted. Plus getting a bunch of plain doors replaced with panelled doors - house should come up nice.

Time for Puff to chime in with peanut butter jelly time. The vanity mirror saga went something like: Me: "I reckon get a large frameless mirror" Wife: "Nah, I reckon a timber framed mirror" Me: "That will look like sh!t" Wife: "No it won't." I gave in cos I'd won the shower head discussion. Bought a timber framed mirror, stained it, varnished it, held it up against the wall once the tiling was done. Wife: "That looks like sh!t" I hung the mirror in one of the kids rooms tonight. Glass place is shut until next week so I'll get something cut to size then. Builder laughed his head off because when I first told him about the framed mirror he said "That will look like sh!t"
