I'm in Melbourne with the family and some friends this weekend. Just hit up a pretty decent pizza joint for dinner but no pics unfortunately. Car shopping could be good timing...
-
Haha yeah. Friends were complaining they had rats in the roof. Not at our joint.

Feeling a bit of@Puffwagon 's pain. Cat cost me $200 at the vet. Got his arse handed to him in a fight and copped a nasty scratch inside his ear that quickly got infected. A week of antibiotics via tablets and drops down the ear canal. Poor bugger isn't too happy, but at least he got some boost on the way to the vet.

FG injector replacement - fuel rail removal
El Andrew replied to El Andrew's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
Awesome, thanks mate! That's perfect info. -
Maybe a lemon squash. But then no more driving.

For those of you who have replaced injectors in an FG, is it necessary to remove the oetiker clamps that hold the fuel supply and return lines to the rail in order to get the rail off far enough to remove the injectors? Went to do the job last night but with limited time. Once I saw those clamps I bailed - they look like they are in a pretty difficult position to get to and in my case the loop part of the clamp was around the back. On further thought today, I also wonder if removing the quick connect from the lines under the car would let the rail move enough, rather than undoing the rail end of the fuel lines. Other than that, the job looked pretty straightforward. Any assistance much appreciated!

New front control arms or just the bushes?
El Andrew replied to Johnny Hohenzollern's topic in Members Cars and Modifications
Not sure mate. Would have thought shim adjustments for castor angle were just part of the alignment process and shouldn't need too much if you swapping like for like with the arms. Unless there's some other issue going on that he is talking about. By the way, Sparesbox have 20% storewide (code frenzy20) until the 15th which knocks the price of those arms down to about $320.- 5 replies

El Andrew replied to Johnny Hohenzollern's topic in Members Cars and Modifications
If you lower ones are ok, I wouldn't worry for now. Suspension stuff wears at different rates and is subject to different loads so no reason to suspect the lower bushes are flogged just because the upper ones are. Other than removing the wheel there's not much overlap between the two jobs so you aren't saving anything by doing them both at the same time, other than a wheel alignment which is needed periodically anyway. You are correct that the main labour cost would be pressing out the old bushes and pressing in the new ones. Therefore if you are supplying complete arms this should be much less.- 5 replies

I'd get another quote. One advantage of complete new arms is you will get a new ball joint included too. New bushes and ball joints would be a lot cheaper but have to be pressed into your existing arms of course. (Looks like the bush kit should cost under $100 - check a few sites out). Removing and installing a complete new arm (with new bushes and ball joint pre-fitted) should only be 20 mins each side for a mechanic. You just unbolt the ball joint from the upright, undo the two inner bolts and out it comes. Not sure whether a wheel alignment is needed or not afterwards.- 5 replies

Might be this guy? Ford Falcon and Territory Icc repair ba Bf fg fgx, http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/blacktown/other-parts-accessories/ford-falcon-and-territory-icc-repair-ba-bf-fg-fgx/1062834941?utm_source=com.google.android.apps.docs&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_android

I thought BA onwards didn't have a code you could enter but got the code when the body control module and the PCM handshake - which is of course a problem in this case.

I had one once that was just a tiny dribble from where the brake line connected to the caliper - having someone give some pedal pressure while I inspected each area (also check where the flexible connects to the hardline at each wheel) helped me find it.

Haha yeah sometimes I think with another 5 pounds or so it would quite the weapon! I think I'm at the limit of the factory turbo now and the response of the 76 is more useful to.me that the power potential of the 82.

Finished off my wideband wiring on Thursday night, had the bung welded in yesterday and hooked it all up this morning. Have limited time between now and the Snowys trip (away one weekend, plus have to paint a couple of rooms before new carpet goes in). I reckon I'll prioritise the injectors now and worry about the trans cooler over Christmas. Also would rather give the cooler a few weeks to make everything is working and not leaking before taking it away like that.

I'm pretty sure I've got a spare at home left over from wrecking my BA. Inbox me if you like and Ill chuck it in the post. Would at least eliminate a bad switch as the cause before you start throwing money at it.

Best XR6 Turbo in Australia and it's not even painted. (I can make that joke now that I no longer own a Lightning Strike car)

Fitted up new front rotors and pads tonight, plus flushed the fluid. Weirdly the head of my jack was missing (as in the plate that contacts with the car) and I couldn't find it anywhere. Had to use the crappy emergency thing. On Sunday I did the rears, including the Territory calipers I originally bought for the BA. Fitted the Territory lines as while the FG sedan lines could work, there was a very tight bend. (For anyone thinking of doing this - the line leaves the caliper at a different angle on the Territory and the lines then have a hard 45 degree elbow rather than a hard 90 degree like on the Falcon.) Cutting the backing plate was straight forward. Handbrake decided to be a *beep* but got it sorted. If nothing else, the Territory rears look much better inside the 19s. Went with DBA SP500 pads after discussion with Matt at RBS. Will be interesting to see how they go.
-
They do die eventually - I replaced on both my EL and BA. By chance I got that exact item from that exact seller - if you aren't sure on yours then $9 isnt much to waste to ensure you are all good.

The Skid Factory - episode discussion
El Andrew replied to k31th's topic in All Videos and Multimedia
Haha good work Keith! For some reason I didn't get a YouTube app or email notification for this episode. I know how I'm spending my evening now! -
Makes sense! I was fitting pads and rotors at 10:30pm last night so know what you mean! Sorry don't know of anything decent around Belco.
-
I'm in Canberra too. My experience so far is if you want things done properly, don't want to get ripped off and don't want stuff broken or lost - DO IT YOURSELF!! Where about are you? For things I can't do myself, I've found JAWS Automotive at Phillip very good.
-
What do you want to achieve? Better sounds? More fasts? Presumably turbo car? Edit: in n/a section so must be n/a car

I tried to get the Huawei modem they supplied to work in bridge mode by trying every forum post I could find and iiNet techs sending me firmware that should have worked, but no joy. Idea was to use my Billion modem-router to manage the network and the wifi. If I ethernet between the two, but without bridge mode, the wireless performance is better but still get drop out and the Huawei is obviously still.managing the network. Looks like it is something to do with either how many devices the Huawei likes to have or how it updates IP address leases. At that point I'd reached the limit of my expertise and care factor! Definitely are some VDSL modems with VoIP but nothing I'm that keen on (either crap or ridiculously high end but not much in between). That's a good tip though John about the ATA - I might give that a go. Looks like they are about $50 and don't limit my modem choice.
