  1. I just put mine there and was a 37 degree day when I gave it the initial shakedown drive. I've got my fan running off a thermostatic switch at 85 degrees. I used the Torque app to monitor the trans temp. Fan switched on at 85 degrees and the temp stayed pretty stable there once the fan came on, so I reckon airflow is ok. You could monitor yours the same way to confirm everything is cooling ok. The air is escaping of course, just not straight out the back. I'm not sure you'd want to blow that hot air directly onto one tyre by cutting slots though.
  2. You can get the whole of Feb for $5 at the moment too. Since 10 ditched F1 I've been in no-mans land. Can't justify the cost of Foxtel just for F1 and still a few years left on their contract until F1 TV hits here properly with live races. Kayo might just be the ticket, with some bonus cricket and NBA. This year I basically watched data live on the F1 app and then a couple of days later watched the 30 min race highlights on F1 TV.
  3. Finally no incorrect or faulty parts and I finished up my trans cooler install and trans service today. I reckon driving it around for a week and a half between the second-last and last dump and fill is going above and beyond the correct flushing procedure! Brand new front bar is on too. 36 degrees and a combination of steep hills and lots of red lights was a decent way to check everything was working. Just got warm enough to trigger the fan, including the indicator light I wired into my gauge panel. Glad to have it done - one happy ZF with no chance of milshaking. I've written up what I've done and taken plenty of pictures, which I'll put in a thread as soon as I tidy it up a bit. Also picked up a 16" steel spare today - had to use the space saver last week after the rear left picked up a screw. Space saver is a horrible thing to drive on.
  4. I did the Intune Motorsport piping kit on my FG to reduce the risk of the plastic ones splitting. Is a decent kit. I'm in Canberra too if you ever want to look at it. Pretty easy install - main trick is getting the order and orientation of the pipes worked out. Wouldn't kill them to number them!
  5. When we first moved from Adelaide to Canberra, our power went out one night and I didn't think anything of it. Next morning it wasn't back on so thought I'd better check if others were affected. Just us! Was a fault where the supply connected to the house. Everyone laughed at me cos I was from Adelaide and just assumed blackouts were normal. All you guys got me thinking about solar so started crunching the numbers. A number of things unfortunately mean it probably doesn't stack up for us: -ACT power prices are very low. Actually looks like undiscounted rates are about half those of Adelaide which is one of the most expensive (makes sense you guys want solar and battery so bad) -Our feed in tariffs are virtually zero -Since most of our power use us at night, if the feed in is rubbish we would have to go battery too. -Pay back period for a solar and battery setup for our size house here is an average of 15 years. That's for a house on full electricity and reverse cycle heating and cooling. We have ducted evaporative cooling (which uses negligible water and power) and ducted gas heating which while quite efficient, would be the biggest contributor to our power costs given our winter climate. So I'd need to factor in switching to ducted reverse cycle too. I actually much prefer the fresher air feeling of gas heating and evaporated cooling. At the moment I think solar with battery doesn't work for us but I can imagine reconsidering when the gas heating dies one day.
  6. Negotiating a pay on time discount in the ACT of 25% for electricity and gas is pretty much the minimum you should expect. Tons of people don't seem to know that or bother - crazy considering a winter quarter gas bill (with ducted gas heating) can judge towards $2k.
  7. Haha gold. I used to work at a butcher when I was at uni. Customer asked for 3x 1kg bags of mince. Rather than use up the whole tray in the window display I grabbed three bags and headed for the big crate of mince in the cool room. Came back to the scales at the counter to check the weight of each bag. 1.000, 1.000 and 0.998. Customer just stood there looking at me like I was a magician.
  8. I just made sangas with hot chips and Baker's Delight bread...
  9. Far out I can't believe people buy that stuff. Was actually impressed with my local Repco when a guy wanted to buy one Repco rotor cause he thought only one was worn bad enough to replace. Dude behind the counter said no.
  10. Haha the pump is about all that's left of the car in that thread! Was going to chuck it in the FG as I've got the rest of the week off. But the wife filled it with petrol yesterday...
  11. This. Just had to a bunch of user acceptance testing and bug reporting plus writing procedures for a project at work. Snipping Tool for days.
  12. Haha the bar is new not the van! Seriously though - nothing special 2010 Kluger Altitude AWD. We've only got two kids but the third row probably my gets flipped up once a fortnight and the ground clearance is great for camping etc. Very competent car.
  13. I picked up this today to fix my previous indiscretion
  14. Yeah something like that. Silly then that the manufacturers say sealed for life. The other thing we can agree on is that the Gulf Western oil smells like arse.
  15. Yep Gulf Western it it now. [emoji106] To backtrack a bit, the original question was about what factory Lifeguard looks like on a first-time drain. Anyway, that container is the mankiest thing floating around my shed, with all sorts of engine, power steering and mower oil residue that it's been used for lately, plus dust and metal filings. In hindsight, posting a picture wasn't that helpful. The point I was trying to help with was that yes, servicing your ZF is a must. I think we all agree on that!
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't lifeguard start out tan in colour? As I said above, the container want clean either. The stuff I was wiping around the transmission after I removed the pan was basically straw colour. But yep, the fluid had over 100k on it so definitely time for a change. Will be living the good life now with regular changes with the GW stuff (which is red). Edit: was typing when Arron posted. But same point.
  17. This is mine out after 115k. Admittedly the container wasn't super clean. If you look at the shallower bit to get a better idea of colour, it isn't awful, but it certainly don't look brand new!
  18. Puff your rods say no.... Okay, get someone to put in reverse while you lay next to the car on the ground. Might help you narrow down the exact location.
  19. I'm confused - earlier he blamed your turbo for the blow up, now it is your tuning?
  20. Cats are good for vermin so you should see a solid result
  21. I'm gonna ask ANZ to zero out my mortgage in exchange for me putting a 'sponsored by ANZ' sticker on my front door
  22. Can we get back to something serious and talk about how much safer single spinners are?
  23. Haha yeah - was shining a torch under the car once I started it, checking everything was ok at the trans. Then walked around the front - oh crap.
