  1. Fell a little bit more in love with my ute today after a 75km dash along country roads in performance mode. (First time since I got it!) hmmmmmm sadly now realised Ive been bitten by the bug and this could get expensive!
  2. Hmmm I feel like I may have been had over! Even as he was saying it I was thinking "remember phil's comments" But when I drove away and nothing immediate I thought happy days. I did say to them maybe check handbrake but I never followed it up. Damm it I feel like a right noooob now lol! I'll read through those threads tonight and jack up the car this weekend to have a proper look around. I'm no mechanic but the info you've provided will really help. Cheers for that.
  3. Well picked up car from ford today and was told leaf spring shackles were loose so have been tightened and that has fixed the issue. The trim needs to be ordered in from over East and will be a two week wait. As for noisy icc apparently it's fine and it's my cable that's the issue hmmm I think not. Drove out the garage and on to my next stop no squeaking. Got back into the car and drove off again and guess what? Squeaking is back! I took it straight back and was told they would take another look when the trim is in but If it gets worse to come back and see them. I'm not annoyed just was hoping it would be sorted now and I could continue to enjoy the car. Anyway they have promised to get to the bottom of it so we will see how it goes!
  4. Thanks mate I will! I had a similar thing happen to me in uk. My triton decided to bust a fuel hose whilst traveling home and dropped half a tank of diesel over the road causing brake loss etc! Ended up stranded in a dodgy service area at night known for (how do I put this delicately) intimate liaisons between strangers! Can certainly say it was an interesting wait lol.
  5. Well you called it phil/damo6/barnz Hit up battery world in Welshpool today and got it tested came back only putting out 395 cca's which in the words of the tech is "pretty poor!" He's priced me up a century that will fit the bill nicely and I'll collect and change out next week. Have to say if anyone is looking for a quality unbiased service go see mickey at Welshpool battery world not only did he do the midtronics test he also load tested the car, checked the alternator and took the time to explain, in laymans terms, how it all works. Good bloke. Thanks for the call Guys now to sort the squeak and trim!
  6. I'll head into there today and get it checked. Thanks mate.
  7. Update - went into grand toyota this arvo and they were very helpful took the car straight into the workshop tried to fix a piece of trim and tested the battery for me. Battery came back as being all good so they advised possible remote key battery or something with specific with icc. Unfortunately the trim looks to be distorted so they sent me to ford next door who were also pretty helpful and have booked me in for Tuesday and provided a loan car for the day too. On a positive note filled up the car today and the gauge went to max so go figure? Will see what ford say about squeak, icc and trim on Tuesday and feedback from there. Cheers.
  8. Thanks for all the feedback I really appreciate it. @rbsnake it's good to know you had a posative experience with grand. I have to say the whole sales mission/experience was pretty painless I dealt with a chap called Chris there and he was easy to deal with and pretty honest, I called him today and he said bring it straight in so I'll try and pop it in tomorrow. I would definitely recommend them to someone looking. @phil that tornado thread is gold! I will check it all out properly tonight but already it's given me a better idea of things. Cheers for the link. Hopefully I'll be able to report back some good news after I drop it in. Overall the car is pretty awesome to drive and these are minor issues but still it would be good to sort them. Oh and as for brembo's hmmmmmmmmmmm if only I had some cash knocking around lol! I've been looking at upgrading brakes when the standard stuff gives up but was thinking pads and t2's. Just out of interest what sort of coin are we talking here? Thanks again guys. Steve.
  9. Nice one Phil thanks and yeah the ute is pretty awesome! Very surprised with the way it's so smooth but when provoked seriously rapid. With regards leaf springs I'm hoping bushes not worn! The reason I was thinking this was it only happens when moving off from standing start and as you come to a complete stop. It seems like a weight transfer thing. It's progressively got louder over the last three weeks and although not ridiculous it is annoying! One for ford me thinks. Thanks for the tips on battery replacement I've read the oem is pretty underpowered for the car. I've no problems investing in quality as it will rack up some k's as my daily work vehicle. Can I ask what the benefit of the earls oil feed product you've recommended is? Thanks for your help mate. Steve.
  10. Thanks for the swift reply mate I appreciate it.
  11. Sorry should also add only done 20,500 kms. Thanks.
  12. Hi All, I could do with some advice on what to do with regard some issues I'm having with my fg mk2 turbo ute I picked up 5 weeks ago. Car is 2013, auto and was purchased from grand toyota in wangara wa. Recently I've noticed the fuel gauge only goes up to 3/4 full when I brim the tank and the icc displays 'low battery' on occasion when starting the car. In addition I have creaking suspension coming from the rear end upon take off and deceleration. (I'm presuming from the leaf springs) Also icc has really excessive noise on iPod. (I know this is pretty common but I think it's a bit extreme!) Having spent many hours searching the forum I think the battery may be on its way out ? and maybe the leafs need greasing but my question is should I take it back to toyota who sold it to me or next door to nuford wangara and request it to be looked at under warranty? Car was originally purchased by previous owner at Titan ford, had its first service there then second service was carried out by toyota prior to sale. I'm hoping they don't use this as an excuse to not honour the warranty. Any advice would be gratefully received! Sorry for the long post!
  13. Thank you. I appreciate the honest feedback too mate. I have a workshop he can work in so should be right there too. Thanks again.
  14. Hey guys, I've searched around but can't find anything specific for wa so apologies if it's been answered before! Can anyone recommend a mobile tint company in perth for a fg mk2 ute? I'm looking to get mine done and would appreciate any recommendations and what I should be looking to pay. Cheers. Steve.
  15. Thanks Jamie I appreciate the heads up. Sounds like a solid setup you have there mate!
