  1. Box has been in for twelve months so I doubt its that never had an issue before this, think when I took off today and traction control cut in it may have broke something
  2. Nah box builder was montsatorque but im in north qlp was hoping it wasnt the box bit it looking like that
  3. Went for a drive today after stopping at lights I noticed a strange sqeek/moan coming from the driveline, almost sounds like a pidgeon. The noise is fairly randomly timed and only happens in drive while stopped. Car has a built zf can anyone give me any pointers on where to look to try and fix this had a look around but couldnt find anything
  4. so after all the stuffing around the shafts were assembled wrong, all sorted now was just a matter of unbolting the ends and swapping them should be back on the road tomorrow, so over driving a 3lt patrol.
  5. yep I think so, do you think they're from another model or wrong ends been put on, I see on the american drive shaft shop site it says they need to been put assembled im thinking theyve been mixed up durring assembly from where I purchused them from locally
  6. the drivers side/ short side will go in but comes up about 8mm far of going in the diff, other shaft fits like it should on the wrong side. between the old shaft and new there is 7mm of difference in the input part of shaft about what the shaft comes up short of going in. all other measurements on old shaft are identical to the wrong new shaft, by the looks of it the wrong end has been installed on the cv
  7. after another afternoon of trying to install these shafts and getting them to fit properly may have finally found the problem, seems the new shafts may have the wrong ends on them they never seemed to fit right but after trying them in the opposite sides the shafts fit beautifully but obviously nothing will bolt up. there is huge variances between the the original and the new which seems to account for them not fitting
  8. turns out the retainer clip had rode up on the splines
  9. anyone ever had any trouble with the axle not going in fully, I gave the axle a couple of taps to get it in the sound changed like it was home but still sits about 6mm out of the diff housing, gave a couple more taps its definitely not going any further, its got me stumped the other side went in easily without any beating.
  10. well cheers for the help guys, got one side done other should be easy now
  11. ive been fairly flogging it doesnt seem to want to go that last 8 or so mm, little worried I may break something if I hit much harder
  12. so how solid of a thump to get back in? been knocking it pretty hard and still about 8mm till its home but doesnt seem to want to go
  13. I thought the same thing, was making some terrible noises and had a sh*t load of play, its out had to lever it a bit.
  14. so while I pull the shaft in and out is it normal for the internals to sort of separate, while pullin on it it felt like was only holding by the rubber boot and as a result ive torn the boot in half and left with most of the shaft in my hand and everything after the boot still in the diff?
  15. so when you say pop the shaft out the diff is it just a matter of pulling on the shaft? I cant seem to get it out by just pulling it also tried levering it between the cv and diff housing but worried about damaging something
