  1. Hey everyone, I'd LOVE to come to the drive day, but sadly I dont have a XR6T. I just felt compelled to write something here as you boys (and girls) are from my home town Perth. I have an EA Fairmont Ghia with a heavily modified EB XR6 Engine, Unichip engine management, with EL induction manifold, and Supra 5 speed manual transmission, lowered, etc etc. Its quick, but sadly not as quick as all your cars. Anyway, as I said, just wanted to say something hehe. I hope you all have a kick a$$ drive down to Margaret River and I'll be getting my XR6T as SOON as Series II is out! Have fun!!! Oh yeh, and HOW ROCKING were the V8 Supercars on the weekend!! WOO-HOO!!! FORD IS BACK!!!! Ross
  2. OK guys, I dont know about the photos posted here, but I am in WA, and I went to the Auto Expo and saw the G220 in the flesh, and I think it looks awesome. The photos presented here really arent doing the car justice. It really is a wicked looking car l8r Ross
  3. Hahaha, nah Richdave, it is Controller Area Network. No doubt you will want references, so here is the direct URL for the Bosch CAN site below: http://www.can.bosch.com later all Ross
  4. Psysh, You are right in saying that the current system is not compatible with OBDII. Ford is running a CAN (Controller Area Network) bus which was developed by Bosch. Basically you are correct in what you say except that the CAN bus can actually support 500kbps of which the current utilisation in the BA is around 90kbps. ie, lots more info can be carried on this bus in future. l8r Ross
  5. To my knowledge, the ute does not have traction control fitted. Im 99.9% sure I read that on some other threads around here. l8r ross
  6. The bottom line here is that the GTHO should be a PERFORMANCE car. Built to do nothing but 0-100's and 1/4s consistently - day in and day out. The engine has the potential to produce the goods. Its a great engine in a great car, but the GT NEEDS TO LOSE SOME WEIGHT. If they could drop 200kgs then the 0-100 times and 1/4 mile times WILL drop SIGNIFICANTLY! Just to prove my point, take a look at the XR8 and the VY SS. Both run basically identical times 0-100 even though the SS gives away 25kW and 35Nm of torque!! - but the XR8 is 200kgs heavier!!!!!! Imagine if the XR8 and SS were the same weight?? the XR8 would SH*T all over the SS!!!! In other words the GTHO with a powerful engine, (400+ kW) and with a lighter body will blitz the hell outta anything else availiable!! Unfortunately, Ford Aust have a reputation for making heavy cars. No doubt there is a cost involved for producing a car 200kgs lighter, but whoever wants it bad enough will pay for it so long as its "reasonable". GO FORD!!!!
  7. Richdave, IMO it looks like the new VY Crummadore. Just the Crummadore is a slightly more conservative version of that design.
  8. Len, I'm just curious. You said you filled your tank up the first time and it took nearly 2 hours to steady out the gauge. Did you fill your tank up from completely empty? or was it half full? Reason I ask is that if you do not put a lot of fuel in the tank, (ie only 1/4 of a tank etc) then the fuel gauge is very slow to reflect this change as it thinks the small variation in fuel level is just due to the fuel moving around in your tank, and not actually due to it being filled. If the gauge wasnt designed like this, then everytime you went around a corner and the fuel moved about it would send your fuel needle swinging around from Empty to Full! The DTE should also increase slowly too in line with the fuel gauge. l8r Ross
  9. Hey Guys, im in Perth and I'm a student finishing off a degree in Electronic and Communications Engineering this year. I am an electronics wizard and a HARDCORE Ford fan. Therefore I will be good for making mods to the ECU of XR6T's . I just need to get my hands on one! If anyone thinks they can help me out with a job or anything please drop me a line on 04********! Thanx!
  10. Hey Guys, I understand that the auto is certainly more practical for everyday use, but one place where the auto is lacking is that of predicatable control. Take for instance the average road driver is taking a roundabout in second gear (manual transmission) at a decent pace. Now where the manual will give u predictable and consistent engine braking, throttle response etc, the auto will not. If u floor it out of the roundabout in the auto then u have the time delay of the gearbox kicking down (and in all honesty, this time delay is enough to send one spearing off the road if its a tight roundabout. Even if u manually select a lower gear in the auto, you have the slip of the torque converter which gives varying degrees of engine braking... and generally speaking, it is more desirable to power out of a corner rather than brake right through it due to the lack of engine braking with the auto. Anyway, im not in anyway condoning speeding through roundabouts, but just giving a general perspective on the Auto vs. Manual debate.
