I had exactly the same problem, my alarm would go off for exactly thirty seconds on starting the car, after an audio "install" my battery was shagged, after about a week of not driving the car the battery was dead and would not recover, even with a solid charge, the car was even spluttering under load. I got a deepcycle batt and all problems dissappeared, my alarm however is installed somewhere and I cant find it at all, when I disconnected the battery the alarm went off for five cycles of 30 secs so be prepared just in case.

  6. Yeah, but isn't the tub liner actually the tub, that is to say that there's not a full metal skin beneath it, but only structural supports? What I was saying is that it may be lighter than alot of people may think.
  7. I don't think thered be much difference in weight, the stylesides are mostly plastic. I have actually seen a tray back xr6t, it was blueprint and the tray was a very stylish custom, it looked awsome. I do believe that one was modded too.
  8. Correct, while other countries and companies had pickup trucks, it was ford australia designer Lou Bandt who first designed the coupe utillity in 1933, for first production in 1934. My memory is a bit sketchy on this bit, but I believe he was killed in a car accident while driving a very old ford ute possibly a '34, but I did hear that it may have been the prototype.   10. I thought I remembered some one a while back installing a hybrid ic, and where the pipe from the turbo goes along the bottom of the fan shroud I rekon he had to trim some plastic for clearance. I'll try to find the thread.

  13. it says the engine is EXPECTED to employ such advanced technology as twin turbochargers, direct injection and cylinder deactivation, not that it does. This engine should be more competitive with the GM engines, ol' school big bore short stroke. new school overhead cams, two sparkplugs per cylinder. They rekon it'll have two valves per cylinder first up, but plan for 4 in the future, as well as those other new school goodies mentioned in the first post. ps There was a rumour that the 2009 mustang would have a destroked 5.8 litre version, though sounds like that wont happen now.
  14. that's right, I saw one the other day in my sh!thole desert town and even though I'm over V8's bark's being worse than their bite's (thanks to the xr6t) I couldn't help but be moved, such a presence.
  15. What did you expect??? They're worth more because they're limited. My ol' man has an EB GT and while I was blown away by the handling, it is slow, by any day's standards, and they cost $65 000 when they were new. The EL GT was slow, well not clearly quicker than an EL2 XR8 and only a shade quicker than an EL XR6, and they cost $70 000 when they were new. Considering that it is 10 years later than the EL and this is only $10 000 more expensive, 50% more powerful and perhaps over one second quicker its probably not that bad a deal. If the GT weren't part of the line up and it had been ten years since a GT had been produced then we would probably be over the moon with this. caspertt
  16. About three weeks ago I bought an ol' EB to drive all the time, after about a week and a half, jumped back into the turbo, cruised around slow till it was up to temp, gave it a stab and tried in vein to stop smiling
  17. I always drive in perf. When travelling (hardly ever) I use econ. last time I used econ I put the boot in to over take someone and it hit the limiter in second until I backed off. Also I notice that in perf if I give it a squirt and let it change back to second it wont change into third when I take my foot off it takes a good 5 - 10 seconds of coasting at 4500 for it to change up. It doesnt worry me too much but it would be handy to be able to reset it every now and then. caspertt ps sorry mine the ol' 4 speed, but I still wonder

Installed is a strong word, but its in the boot, work in progress and all, im only running it off the back speakers and the factory sub signal, still unsure if I will worry about getting a signal from the fronts, if I wanted to do that it might be easir to install it under the passanger seat or something.
  20. I also run an LC6 and I was amazed how good it sounds compared to the actual speaker signals, I was a bit sceptical going in to it but, I was extremely happy with it once I had installed it.
  21. I cant think what mine says now but a while ago it said av speed 38kph av fuel 20.8lp100 dte 305km I think its come down quite a bit since then but I still get sh!tty dte I think my av now is 17.8

Well I have a 15 and I dont have to worry abou the the wing rattle as I dont have one lol Did you ever have it the other way, using the line converter from the back speaker and running the amp with out the factory one as that's how mine is now. ← Don't worry mate theres plenty of rattle to be had in these cars, my wing isnt as bad as the parcel tray or the windscreen or the rear veiw mirror or every thing else.
  23. I also saw one the other week parked on the side of the road in the sh!twhole desert town I live in in SA. At first it looked weird 'cos it had the gt front air dam but also had an intercooler but then when I drove past it, it had force 6 badging on the back door. Looked good it was lightning strike, would have looked alot better in HgAg but I was happy to see one at all.
  24. regarding the wiring diagram, could someone offer a second opinion as it appears as though the signal to the factory amp is MONO??? Does it seem like this to anyone else???
  25. Nah I didnt really have that good a look, shouldnt be too hard to sus out, it'd be the four that look about the same size two one colour two another colour for left and right. I think I'll end up doing this myself, Ive been running subs and a speaker amp for ages just off the ipod, the last piece of the puzzle will be getting a good signal from the stock head unit. I've got a low levl converter but it sounds like sh!t.
