Fuel system advice required
pottypirate replied to Hirdy's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
Hirdy your a bum get back to work, no doubt all these questions are on work time and computers. Ask the colonel he'll be able to sort ypu out -
Well an update on the btr from RVO. After the first install fail, dave wouldnt return my calls or email from either me or my mechanic. He would however return ebay messages. Well it took awhile for him to send the new tranny lucky I have other cars. Second tranny turned up which he said he had personnelly dyno'd and my mechanic installed it and so far so good. Nice tight shifts. I have only put about 500kms on it but give it a little stick here and there and it feels good. Also installed a pwr cooler. Long story short, is eventually he did the right thing by me although I had to pay for install twice. If it holds up the distance ill be happy. If I lived local I wouldnt hesitate in dealing with him again but being a distance away it was a bit of a nightmare due to the fact he wouldnt return calls, said he had a lot of other stuff going on so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and I wanted a new tranny that worked. Heres to the little green tranny lasting a couple of years. If it fails prematurely, ill post again.

Well he didn't return my calls yesterday but emailed me back through Ebay. Said it sounds like low oil, recheck oil and check for faulty codes hmmm. My mechanic who are ford nuts with xr6t's and fpv's as their daily drivers said it took a sh*tload of fluid and the invoice says 10L . I wish it were that easy but I can see a sh*tfight coming up. Oh dear a quick search before purchase rather than after would have saved me a world of hurt.

Well box is installed and running like sh*t. Awaiting Dave's phone call back. Seems like it shifts hard into 2nd then 3rd just spins up until 3500 rpm then 4th I'm doing 80kms at 3800 revs. If I put it in manual mode 3rd does nothing. Really don't have the time for this should have done my homework better before purchase sheeeetttttt @MR XR6T if you weren't in Perth I'd buy that box. Gotta get the ute on the road asap so can't wait for shipping from west coast.

Yeah found the RVO threads after purchase doh!!!! Hopefully he gets it sorted today. Hes a very qualified ford specialist and has installed plenty of btrs. sh*t dont look good. It will be the waiting for another 2 weeks for replacement that ill be pissed about

Hey guys. My mechanic installed a new BTR transmission from RVO yesterday and late in the afternoon when I went to pick the ute up its stalling in drive or reverse. Car starts fine but as soon as you select a gear it dies. Anyone cone across this problem before. Anything need to be reset etc after install. He'll call rvo in the morning but thought someone on here may have a clue. Cheers

Okay cheers. Looks like ive gotta dig a little deeper into the pockets for reliable power in the range im after. Fuel pump turbo work and cooler it is then.

Thanks guys. Your probably just telling me what I thought and didnt want to hear but oh well it is what it is. Booked in next monday at Real Dyno Performance in brissie for valve springs, injectors and tune but my 3200 worth of work sounds like it may be more in the range of 6500 by the time the turbo gets worked on and intercooler. Was trying to get away with minimal work as I dont drive it hard but sounds like I have a bit more work to do to make it reliable Could I get away with a hdi intercooler or not worth the money, best to just buy plszamann or process west kit? Any other cheaper coolers worth buying or do I need to just fork out the cash?

Gday guys, My Ba xr6t ute is in at my mechanics at the moment getting a new transmission installed. Prior to that I just fitted a full xforce exhaust system. Its off to the tuners next ( not booked in yet) to get injectors, valve springs and a tune. Im hopping for around 300rwkw or close to and just wondering if at that power the turbo needs is it actuator work or something I read. Hi torque seem to think not but Chiptorque seem to think so. Has anyone got similar mods and what was needed only other mod is panel k&n filter
-
Yeah mines not a daily driver either and at 43 ive had fast cars before so I just want this to have a little poke but be reliable also. Ive read plenty with around the 300rwkw mark that seem to be holding up and a few that have let go so I think I'll roll the dice on the Btr and see what happens.

Whoa 60 page thread. Thanks I'll have a read through and see who he used. Thanks guys
-
Yeah I'll be more than happy with 300rwkw in a ute just don't want to waste 2700 then have to end up swapping anyway. It won't get driven much as I work away and I'm pretty good on my cars. Might be worth trying g the rebuild and keep my fingers crossed

Gday. I've had my BA xr6t ute parked up for a few yrs whilst doing up my patrol and just bringing it back on the road now. It's done 100k and it seems to have a noise in the torque converter or transmission. Its stock but I've just put a full turbo back x force system on it and it will be going up to Hi Torque for injectors, valve springs and tune. When ringing around to get advice on the BTR auto rebuild I'm getting mixed advise. Burliegh autos says he can rebuild it to handle 300rwkw and others say no chance it will break. I prefer to drive an auto and I don't flog the ute with the exception of standing on it now and then for a buzz. Am I wasting my time rebuilding this auto? If so what are the manual options and cost of changing it. Some searches on the forum mention the T56, is this the go to manual transmission for the Ba? As mentioned I'd rather stay auto but at the same time don't want to spend 2700 for a rebuild then have to do it all again. Any heads up would be appreciated thanks There's also a guy selling btr boxes for 2800 on Ebay and he says his box will handle up to 400rwkw, is he dreaming or is this possible https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Falcon-BA-BF-BTR-4-Speed-Reconditioned-Auto-Trans-High-Performance/222545906265?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180816085401%26meid%3D69065848313e44e49082bdb52aea6149%26pid%3D100970%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D361695550107%26itm%3D222545906265&_trksid=p2481888.c100970.m5481&_trkparms=pageci%3Ae6825468-8fee-11e9-9117-74dbd1804765|parentrq%3A5e894ad016b0a4e88367a9e5ffd52c7d|iid%3A1

Hi guys, Obviuosly new to the forum and making my way through the threads. I bought a 03 xr6t ute auto with 80000kms on just starting to mod now. From reading the treads this is my direction, please correct me if I am missing something. I want to make 300 to 325rwkw and keep the ute stock looking. I have already purchased db4000 t3 rotors and ds performance pads with braided lines, not yet fitted as the brakes are terrible. I plan on purchasing the plazmaman intercooler and CAI kit, Venom cat Xcal and tune Injectors of tuners choice Valve spring upgrade not sure which brand yet. Will there be anything else I will need (fuel pump) or maybe a cheaper/better option for the power im chasing. I realise ill be at the 4 speeds limit and might tear it up but that's not the end of the world, ill justbreplace that when/if it happens. Really good tread and I have learnt alot already, I come from classic car background and its my first turbo and loving it
