You running twin pump and standard reg. You need high flow reg, contact KPM and put it in. Get a fuel pressure gauge and check to see where pressure is at. Got to make sure mechanical side of things is done properly before tuning. And for those that have stalling cars, your tuner simply does not know what he is doing. Have seen enough cars, the mods and the tunes to come to the conclusion some of these tuners are a bit thick or lazy. You should expect a rock solid return to idle, no excuses.

Yeh, ideally you want to get the timing where it does not activate knock as above. But the main point being is that there are failsafes built into the factory tune that work pretty good on the FG at least. What I said above is running 98. Just run E85 and you will get full factory timing, no chance of hurting anything if fueling right, easiest tune.

Don't worry about knock too much. I've been running a tune for the last 6 months where all I did was scale the injectors properly and stopped the over boost cutout with an FG that has exhaust , intercooler ,injectors and pump. Not even touched timing or boost maps. It hits 18psi + at times and datalogging timing, knock reveals the engine is very well protected by pulling the required timing. You got to stuff up badly to wreck the engine through not enough fuel and / or wrong timing. This is for FGs, I can't vouch for anything older.

Hp Tuners is the way to go now. It can do everything you need it to do, brilliant datalogging. Hook up a permanent wideband air/fuel ratio meter in the car with the bung in the downpipe. Hook up an external adjustable boost controller if you want to adjust boost , all ECU adjustments for this can be found on the forums. Boost controller simplifies the boost management side of it. Use your existing tune and observation of the air fuel ratios on a good tune whilst driving will let you see where things should be. If you find it too hard just get a good tuner who uses hp tuners to do any adjustments you are afraid of but make sure they leave the tune unlocked. I have seen a few workshop tunes here in Perth and I scratch my head with their tuning style. They specialise in big power but poor cold starts and drivability. At least if you have hp tuners you can let us have a look at the tune and we can collectively problem solve for you rather than with SCT you are in no mans land if you have a drivability problem and tuner who failed his year 10 leaving certificate. Transmission tuning is quite easy to learn. We will have tunes shortly that you can copy from and you can input one parameter change at a time and observe effect. Good fun

During the boom time you would put up with asshole tradies and pay the asking price. Now that things are quiet here in Perth, if a tradie does not do the right thing from get go then easy to sack and get another cause not much work out there. So the assholes just naturally find themselves out of work much earlier than the nice guys. Easier to negotiate on price atm and ideal time to build. Just luv the upper hand. Alot of tradies hurting

I came across a FG that has that "idle going crazy" thing then ETC fault showing up. Switch off then restart and then all good. It was a manual FG and tuned. I got it to do it about 10 times. The symtoms vary. Sometimes it revs up and holds, other times it stalls, but always ETC fault code afterwards. I thought it might have been hardware related but looks like that this could be software/tuning related.

Goodluck, I've seen two pro ZF tunes that just bang 1>2 2>3 when they could have easily softened the shifts but didn't. The only reason no banging 3>4 onwards is not cause of good tuning either, they just don't seem to bang into gear for the 3>4 onwards shifts even though similar tuning numbers used. Alot of "pro" tuners from what I see don't understand the word "drivability". They think that hard shifting trans tunes along with FGs that stall is OK.

I've tuned the ZF. The 2>1 is tuned better on the 2015 FG. In fact Ford recognised this issue and its one of the few tables touched over the FG trans tunes where you can see they tried to improve something. There is one table that directly affects the shifting as the temperature of the trans rises. You could improve this by altering a few numbers in one table. Go get HP tuners and you can improve on the above very easy.

Back in 2012 I took my FG to get the aircon module updated (had aircon probs and needed codes). I told the service guy that the car was flashed and put a note on the dash. I heard a car splutter into life from the waiting area and idle like a pig. Then the service guy comes out and says the tech guy accidently updated the whole car as it was on auto update. In the end they were able to restore it to the original tune (don't know how they did that and he was very worried if they could restore it cause he said I may need a truck) but you got to bear this in mind whenever getting updates on a tuned car.
