Yeah when I watched it I didn't want to see the outcome. The dude got lucky. I've been a cyclist many years ago and I've also been an impatient driver. Now days I just give the death wishers aka cyclists the extra few seconds they need to survive. It's a pain in the arse but so is cpr'ing a chopped up cyclist.

Saw this on faceballs today.

Today I was just changing things in the tune to further my knowledge of hp tuners. The car was slowly leaning out at idle so I loaded up vcm scanner. The O2 sensor voltage was pinned at 1.6ish volts and I could see the fuel trim pulling fuel out. I guess it's time for a new O2 sensor.

And there I was complaining about beef jerky being stuck between my teeth. On a side note I traveled through the Adelaide hills yesterday with my trailer to collect wood from a private block. I passed half a dozen cyclists and had to slow down to 10kph a few times to pass them safely up the hill. Going normal, legal speeds up montecute road could well cause a cyclist ko.

Yep, that's it.

Yep I could just mix in some beta alanine for the tingles and call it a proprietary blend. Weight loss pills don't work anyway, only diet will influence your weight.

This is one that I "invented" myself after looking into "weight loss pills". Weight loss pill recipe: 1. 600 empty gelatin capsules from ebay $48 2. 200 grams caffeine powder from ebay $18 3. Digital scales to measure caffeine, also from ebay $12.95 Total $78.95 and makes 600 doses @ 300 mg each with some powder spare. This will last for nearly a year and with proper diet will put anyone where they want to be weight wise. Use 100 to 300 mg of caffeine in each capsule. Have one in the morning and one at lunch time with food. Try not to have any other caffeine eg; coffee, tea, energy drinks etc. Don't use more than 600 mg per day. More than 300 mg per dose usually causes nausea. Read up on the use and side effects of caffeine use as individual use will vary. Common sense goes a long way too which you must have as you cancelled your card once already.

Tightened the turbo oil return bolts at the turbo about an 8th of a turn each and that stopped the leak. Gotta have good luck sometimes.

My car leaked nearly 2 litres of oil yesterday. I found the leak and fixed it by tightening a couple of bolts on the turbo oil return about an 8th of a turn. Since when is fixing anything ever that easy?

You blokes mean to say that "me" days actually exist after having kids? I thought I wasn't going to get one until I was 55 at least.

Degreased under car to diagnose oil leak. The fresh oil from testing indicates either a faulty gasket at the top of the oil return line from the turbo or a faulty line. Will confirm when it cools down. Also cable tied pcv valve pipes due to popping off several times.

To further that train of thought, there is a large difference between an good mechanic and someone who specializes in their field.

Lol I edited the clutch part out of my comment because it has nothing to do with your engine failing.

If the mechanic had said rings then it has obviously passed the leak down test. If the timing chain has skipped enough to cause massive engine shaking then it is likely to fail a leak down test in every cylinder.

As a husband and father to 3 young children I empathize with your situation. Although there are a myriad of reasons that we could speculate upon, nothing is decided until your mechanic gives their diagnosis and offers various solutions. I do think that it is important to come to a conclusion about how the cylinder failed. Although forum members contributing to this thread aren't there with you to properly diagnose, I'm sure we can offer ideas as to how it may have failed. Your mechanic will know what to do. It is good news that there is no scoring of the bore. This will at least save some money if and when the engine is out for the block to be honed if indeed the issue lies with a broken piston or rings. You have a great car by the sound of it and take care of it well. From what you have said it isn't your fault that it is broken. My 2 cents in what could have happened to cause it? A failed or partially blocked injector had leaned the cylinder out and detonated. 5 years worth of detonation in one cylinder will break the piston eventually. Obviously this is just my opinion based on what you have told us. Your mechanic should know to check for all possible causes. You'll be ok and you'll have it sorted soon.

This. You wouldn't expect the rings to be worn out with the milage described from the op. With just one cylinder low it seems like a broken ring land or snapped rings in that cylinder. Obviously this would manifest immediately. I hope your mechanic does the right thing by you. With the problem solved you should be trouble free for a long time.

There won't be enough bite left in the cross hatch to bed new rings in properly. To fix the issue properly the engine will need the bottom end reconditioned at the very least. It may be cheaper to buy a second hand motor if the budget does not allow for repairs to the existing engine.

Marty was talking about an interest in the barra not too many whiles ago. I wonder where they will go with it?

Something that made me feel good today was my 15 month old daughter Sophia. Previously she had largely disregarded me when 'mumma' was home and saw me as a backup cuddler/food bringer due to my lack of booby milk. Today she must have decided that I'm alright cos when the missus brought her to our bed this morning she gave me a nice big snuggle and a smile without the usual high pitched squealing and trying to crawl away.

$600 outright from the good guys.

As a former goat owner I'd hoped those destructive bastards were out of my life but now I'm inundated with them.

Ate beef jerky yesterday. 3km of floss later and much brushing finally released it today. Gets me every time.

I was lying on the couch yesterday, dying out the arse with a cold/chesty cough/headache etc. When I saw the fb notification I literally jumped off the couch and fired up the pc and forgot I was sick. The missus thought it was quite funny that I had gone from dead to grinning in half a second.
