  1. For the more crazy modders amongst us it's true. If you break it then you build it better or turn it down but eff that. Oh and to keep it on topic I'll add the point that having a properly working recirc or bov will keep your turbo spinning faster between shifts in a manual. As your car changes, everything from tyre pressure to pcm benefits from tuning. Arduino bov controller ftw.
  2. Ahh motivation, such a fickle thing. Fook motivation, just do what you want. Literally get up and do what you want. You want your car fixed? Go outside, grab your tools and start the process. Rain wont kill you and neither will lying on a cold driveway. You want all kindz of gains? Get in the gym and start with baby weights until you become a musculine elephant. I always say "Do what you want, not what you feel". This applies if you feel good or bad about any particular decision. I stopped smoking back in 2010 with this in mind. If you can't achieve your goals then change what you are doing. We don't need easy, we just need possible. Inb4 "just do it" meme is posted
  3. Pretty sure I have some new hose in the shed. Using 25 year old hose to replace the original hose probably wasn't the best idea.
  4. Stock intake tract, apart from k&n filter with gtx wheel and 0.7 gt3582r (1) front housing. Hardly a choo choo to be heard. Choo choo galore with the smaller wheel and housing.
  5. I pulled over for a wee wee about 5 minutes before the gauge went up. When I stopped I noticed the smoke, popped the bonnet and got coolant in the face at the same time that I noticed the glowing turbo. I babied it home from there. No heat knocks/rattles or power loss so I think it's all good. If the turbo is broke you can tell my wife that I'm using my 50mm external gate on my next setup. I don't want to tell her cos she'll be mad.
  6. Keef yeah the kids are asleep and the missus is half awake. I'll fix the it tomorrow if it's not raining. Just started pissing down again.
  7. Sorry Keef and Stubbie it was my fault and probably still is. I blame my wife for going to bed too early. Also I stabbed the crap out of myself with a rusty nail before and just got a tetanus shot. On the plus side my car is intact.
  8. All clean. Hopefully I didn't feck it up this time.
  9. Ok well I'm going to go outside and wash under my bonnet a bit. No need for pics as it's pitch black right now. At least it isn't pissing down right now.
  10. I didn't see your post until after I posted my thing...I think
  11. As the kids say when in tassie, " dad says the farken farkas farked
  12. It was smoking like a bitch. It's dark and raining now but I'll go hose it off. The turbine housing was glowing red so it can cool down a bit. That was a nissan hose from a rb30. That will teach me to be a cheap bastard.
  13. Yep I'm dumb. What link should I use? Da uda wun?
  14. Oh really? I was going to do that anyway lol.
  15. It broke the little coolant hose above the air con compressor. Coolant everywhere and hit 3/4 on the gauge by the time I got home. link me the pic structions please?
  16. Got home and the car was cooked. Pics if I can work it out.
  17. Own a nissan or 2. Can confirm. Bread is baked.
  18. If anything I've become more aware and protective of kids since becoming a parent. I guess not everyone considers the possible consequences of their seemingly innocuous actions. I know the feeling with 4x4s though. It's like little things like footpaths and medians are just a minor inconvenience.

    Fuel

    Don't use 95. Use 98.
  20. Lol for anyone else, not you Rab, who doesn't want to google it, the basic principle is keeping the intake valve open for a period of time during the compression cycle to reduce the compression therefore reducing load on the engine making it more efficient. It's quite easy to turn a engine by hand with the plugs out but difficult or impossible in some cases with the plugs in. Easier to turn means less fuel needed to overcome the cylinder pressure. Potato version: Use less fuel when cruising.
  21. Witches hats is a great idea. I had thought about parking a few of my cars there but that might result in a parking ticket as it is a no standing (?) zone at school times. Funnily enough it has been the 4x4's that are the worst. Yesterday a lady drove right up the footpath in her 4x4 and was only a foot from the fence. Due to our location a lot of people have a 4x4 though.
