Intake manifold is on, AC compressor fitted, injectors and fuel rail fitted, wiring done, converter done up, intercooler piping sorted, exhaust fitted with a small join needing to be done tomorrow, adjusted the tune to suit the new setup and that's about it. I can't find my wastegate clamp so no doubt that will be the one thing to stop it in its tracks. So yeah I should finish it off tomorrow and then spend the rest of the week finding my clamp.

One is rated to 850hp and the other is rated to 1850hp. At least the big one saves you fuel cos it's never on boost

Got nothing done yesterday and a little bit today. I sprained my wrist putting the trans in 500 times the other day, so called it short today. Got the trans all bolted up, front and rear driveshafts in, trans cooler mounted, wired and ready to go, and that's about it. I put the hotside in for a look and realized I have to clock the turbo to point downwards, so that can happen another day. I'll have to lift it in and out a number of times for that, as well as making the oil drain etc. My wrist is too sore to lift it once, nvm half a dozen times, so I'll rest up and get it done whenever. Fark the turbo looks small in there lol, it'd look cooler and be heaps easier to chuck in the 85mm beast I have, cos the exhaust already fits it as well as the cooler pipes. Not sure how the stock cast turbo pistons would like 30psi and 650+kw though?! Here's a pic just cos.

I just bought a dyno mainly for Falcon tuning, so it ain't gonna stop any time soon! Apart from that I didn't even know Joe had left.

If you think about it, they're all steps forward

I got signed off for most of it then left the place cos it was not for me. And right now I'm not having fun lol. I just got the trans in but first a clip got wedged between the flex plate and trans that I retrieved with a magnet, then a plug decided it was having a turn. I could have installed 3 transmissions in the time it took me to do 1. Anyhow I've just gotta do the usual crap now and still have to change the fuel pot over. I've also gotta wait for a new oil fitting that'll be here Monday, so that's when it'll be running. Time for a beer or 50

Yerp. I get the missus to help me or one of my sons. I can do it all myself but it makes it miles easier to get the trans in and out with two people. So yeah pretty much only get help with the trans/tcase. The missus will hang out with me while I'm doing it most of the time, unless she's got something else to do. It's nice to have someone to talk to lol. Progress now is the engine is assembled and in the TT. I'll get the trans in this afternoon and probably call it there. I still gotta take the other car off the jack stands, move it out the way and raise this one, so there is a bit of stuffing around to get it done.

It just cleans the grease and dirt off it. All that baked on oil and crap needs to be soaked overnight for it to come off. I did all that stuff for my other engine and it takes a farken long time to clean it like that. I don't have enough farks to do that, so it will be as it is.
-
I know the one you mean but I ain't got one lol. I've got a 180L parts washer and everything got washed, rinsed and dried. The engine is back together now, I'll stop for lunch and put it in the car after. I also remembered to install the right rocker cover to suit the coils. I didn't paint it though, so it'll have to stay in primer until dinosaurs roam the earth again.

Cheers, it's getting there and I'm pretty excited to see how the turbo goes. It's all torqued and timed up now, and ready to close up. Haha yes it is browner than brown but it's a 370xxxkm engine that was neglected before I got it.

Time for a godamn sammich

Yes they'll move and yes you have to set the timing again. You can ignore the chain marks, just ensure the harmonic balancer is lined up to the mark on the timing cover and both dots on the cam phasers are pointed straight up. They are frequently a quarter to half a tooth of centre, you'll know if it a tooth out cos it's a fair bit off centre. Here's an engine manual, have fun Falcon-2008-Engine-Service-Manual.pdf

It depends. Cheap gears may not be finished properly and have a sharp edge on them still that will eat the pump or backing plate within a few hundred km. Also you gotta watch the laser etching, it has to be smooth otherwise it will eat the pump too. You can hand file them though or you can pay extra for ones already nice and smooth. That pump is only $500 and it has billet gears, spring and steel backing plate, you can't really go wrong (providing it doesn't have those sharp edge issues) and wouldn't be saving much doing it yourself. You might save $100 or so. If I was gonna buy one, I'd open it up to check first anyway.
-
That pump would be fine. To remove the spring you undo the cap, there's a little bit to locate the spring, there's the spring and there's the relief plunger. Very easy to work out when it's in front of you.
-
Yeah it probably would lol. This video shows what you need to verify to install gears. They need to stay together in the correct orientation when installing. Other than that it needs an impact driver to undo the backing plate and uses loctite when you reinstall it. The spring is easy to swap. Be very clean and use lube when reinstalling the gears.

No pms thanks, I've turned off notifications and don't intend on checking anything. It has taken up many hundreds of hours of my time and makes me wish I rode a scooter instead. Best thing to do is to start a thread, or just ask in the thread you already have.

First question: In the latest pump I built, I used aftermarket gears, I used a billet backing plate, I used a high pressure spring and I used an adjustable relief which is wound up as much as it will go. So yes, the gears change the flow, the spring changes the flow/pressure and the adjustable relief also changes the flow/pressure. Second question: You can do that if you like, however there are multiple factors to consider before just slapping them in and sending it.

I do it myself.

Head studs and timing kit arrived today and the head gasket will be here tomorrow. Should be up and running on Sunday, weather permitting.

There's a clip that you pull towards the passenger side, use a pair of pliers to grab it or something to lever it out. After that it will just pull straight up, although you might need to spray some WD-40 to help it come loose. Make sure you don't bend the housing or it won't want to pull out afterwards. There's a vacuum line that needs removing as well. If anyone is wondering why the fark I'm replying at 3am, my bastard cat decided to hide under my bed and woke me up at 1am to get out.

Not an overly exciting day but I got some stuff done. Swapped the drivers seat into the other car, fitted the 2009 headlights and front end onto the 2006 TT, fitted the turbine housing onto the 6boost manifold, frigged around doing some turbo fixing then fitted that into the turbine housing. Ordered a headgasket, ordered a new oil fitting/restrictor, my other parts got posted today and I think that's about it. I reckon I'll swap the ICC over too cos the newer one is slightly better. That reminds me, the TT is set up for FG coils so I have to remember to put that rocker cover on when it goes back together...so I'd better paint it so it looks a bit less sh*t than primer Here's a pic of the hotside, the front end and the seat and console back together, cos we all like a pic or two
