  1. Install another knock sensor at the rear of the engine to suit the 07 loom and tune, and that's about it. Barra engines are very interchangeable and most of the time there is only knock sensor stuff, vct tuning, minor ignition and fueling adjustments and oil pressure switch tuning etc. It's the manifolds that create installation headaches as they don't line up between various models.
  2. Not a massive amount done today, exhaust fitted, dump connector made, hotside fully assembled, check wg spring @12psi, ran the oil line to the turbo to give it a quick fire up and after reverting a few throttle settings it starts and idles now. Maybe tomorrow will see it fully assembled and on the road.

  4. I wanna just enjoy playing it without having to become a Jedi Tetris master to do so. Perhaps I should have started on the easy setting first.
  5. It's actually pretty easy, not much different than the game boy lol. I was doing so well then the mofo started going flat out, so it took me dozens of attempts to get through a level.
  6. There's a version on the ps5 that has a fully sick soundtrack and graphics.
  7. Intake manifold is on, AC compressor fitted, injectors and fuel rail fitted, wiring done, converter done up, intercooler piping sorted, exhaust fitted with a small join needing to be done tomorrow, adjusted the tune to suit the new setup and that's about it. I can't find my wastegate clamp so no doubt that will be the one thing to stop it in its tracks. So yeah I should finish it off tomorrow and then spend the rest of the week finding my clamp.
  8. One is rated to 850hp and the other is rated to 1850hp. At least the big one saves you fuel cos it's never on boost
  9. Got nothing done yesterday and a little bit today. I sprained my wrist putting the trans in 500 times the other day, so called it short today. Got the trans all bolted up, front and rear driveshafts in, trans cooler mounted, wired and ready to go, and that's about it. I put the hotside in for a look and realized I have to clock the turbo to point downwards, so that can happen another day. I'll have to lift it in and out a number of times for that, as well as making the oil drain etc. My wrist is too sore to lift it once, nvm half a dozen times, so I'll rest up and get it done whenever. Fark the turbo looks small in there lol, it'd look cooler and be heaps easier to chuck in the 85mm beast I have, cos the exhaust already fits it as well as the cooler pipes. Not sure how the stock cast turbo pistons would like 30psi and 650+kw though?! Here's a pic just cos.
  10. I just bought a dyno mainly for Falcon tuning, so it ain't gonna stop any time soon! Apart from that I didn't even know Joe had left.
  11. If you think about it, they're all steps forward
  12. I got signed off for most of it then left the place cos it was not for me. And right now I'm not having fun lol. I just got the trans in but first a clip got wedged between the flex plate and trans that I retrieved with a magnet, then a plug decided it was having a turn. I could have installed 3 transmissions in the time it took me to do 1. Anyhow I've just gotta do the usual crap now and still have to change the fuel pot over. I've also gotta wait for a new oil fitting that'll be here Monday, so that's when it'll be running. Time for a beer or 50
  13. Yerp. I get the missus to help me or one of my sons. I can do it all myself but it makes it miles easier to get the trans in and out with two people. So yeah pretty much only get help with the trans/tcase. The missus will hang out with me while I'm doing it most of the time, unless she's got something else to do. It's nice to have someone to talk to lol. Progress now is the engine is assembled and in the TT. I'll get the trans in this afternoon and probably call it there. I still gotta take the other car off the jack stands, move it out the way and raise this one, so there is a bit of stuffing around to get it done.
  14. It just cleans the grease and dirt off it. All that baked on oil and crap needs to be soaked overnight for it to come off. I did all that stuff for my other engine and it takes a farken long time to clean it like that. I don't have enough farks to do that, so it will be as it is.
  15. I know the one you mean but I ain't got one lol. I've got a 180L parts washer and everything got washed, rinsed and dried. The engine is back together now, I'll stop for lunch and put it in the car after. I also remembered to install the right rocker cover to suit the coils. I didn't paint it though, so it'll have to stay in primer until dinosaurs roam the earth again.
  16. Cheers, it's getting there and I'm pretty excited to see how the turbo goes. It's all torqued and timed up now, and ready to close up. Haha yes it is browner than brown but it's a 370xxxkm engine that was neglected before I got it.
  17. Yep. Now it's time for a godamn coffee ☕
  18. Yes they'll move and yes you have to set the timing again. You can ignore the chain marks, just ensure the harmonic balancer is lined up to the mark on the timing cover and both dots on the cam phasers are pointed straight up. They are frequently a quarter to half a tooth of centre, you'll know if it a tooth out cos it's a fair bit off centre. Here's an engine manual, have fun Falcon-2008-Engine-Service-Manual.pdf
  19. It depends. Cheap gears may not be finished properly and have a sharp edge on them still that will eat the pump or backing plate within a few hundred km. Also you gotta watch the laser etching, it has to be smooth otherwise it will eat the pump too. You can hand file them though or you can pay extra for ones already nice and smooth. That pump is only $500 and it has billet gears, spring and steel backing plate, you can't really go wrong (providing it doesn't have those sharp edge issues) and wouldn't be saving much doing it yourself. You might save $100 or so. If I was gonna buy one, I'd open it up to check first anyway.
