Just wondering if anyone has swapped a BA xr6 n/a box for a T56 six speed. Is there anything to look out for?

I work on heaps of D40s that see regular mine use. They have really weak rear suspension mounts for the shockies on the diff housing. We are constantly welding them up with beefier bracing. They are gutless and have heaps of transfer case problems and the rear wheel speed sensors are in a vulnerable position if going off road. The new Rangers are even worse, with some utes having up to five engines put in them. We tow at least one ranger a week back to the dealership if not two at a time.

dont buy kinchrome ratchet spanners as the ratcheting gears strip all the time. I have a metric set of CAT ratchet spanners which are great and a imperial set of JBS ratchet spanners which have taken three years of abuse off me on the mine site and have never broken one. Repco and JBS are made in the same factory and are resonably priced. The new Sidchrome open ended spanners are good aswell as the SP Tool Motorsport spanners as they have an anti slip open end.

got quoted $998 from Kennedys Automatics in Mackay for service and steel pan. Getting full transmission flush from Ford in Mackay with Transmax Z for just under $400 and I supply the steel pan, filter etc which should cost me about $300 so about $700. What oil is everyone using and are people getting a full flush or just replacing the oil that is lost when changing pan?

wow Sly I got told the genuine ZF oil was about $2000. About $300 for Transmax Z

Just wondering what people are paying for an auto service on their ZF transmissions? What oil and oil pan/filter are you using as well?

what tyre pressures are recommended for the F1s? How many kms are people getting out of the F1s? Ive run Toyo T1Rs, Toyo Proxes 4s, Brid Potenzas and the Standard SPs. By far the tyre with the most amount of grip was the T1Rs but were too soft and didnt last the distance plus they were not too flash in the wet. The Potezas became very hard over time and became very skatey and absolutely deadly in the wet. SPs were average and the Toyo 4s Im running now seemed to be pretty good slightly harder than the T1Rs but are yet to be tested in the wet. I will be looking at getting some front tyres in the coming week for the misses car so may look at the F1s as the wet season is nearly here.

I lost my Dad when I was 15 to a heart attack. He was a Ford mechanic for 35years so when I finished school I became a Ford Mechanic. I wish I had the experience of working on my cars with my Dad, so hold on to those memories of working together on your car mate as they are very special moments.
