thx for the comments everybody, will have a look into rex gorrell and see how they go. Its hard to find a good dealer and get on with them. hopefulyy rex will be good, I need to find somebody new to service the car long term.

paid a bit under 25k with a trade in for my 89 laser, was pretty happy with the trade in. Prob a bit high but I have been searchign for months for a car with low kms in auto with premium sound. still has the ford waranty til december so Ill have plenty of time to iron out the kinks. wont be sold with a road worthy, if I get a roadworthy done and items need fixing, depending on the item (I know wear and tear tiems like etc etc are not covered) would it be covered by the ford waranty. not looking forward to running the ford dealer waranty service, just have to find the right dealer just got the call about the 1295 dollar paint protection...

put a deposit on the car Im getting the car inspected and if all goes well I will be driving to Aderlaide an back to Geelong. Will be a good chance to get used to the car. The car is a dec 06 BFII xr6 turbo, red with premium sound. The car only has 33,xxx kms as well, so im pretty happy!!

as the heading says, looking into buying an xr6 turbo interstate (im in vic looking at a SA car). are there any traps I can need to worry about, inc a plan to trade my old car to the dealer interstate? will a dealer be interested in an interstate traded car? I know I will have to get my own reoard worthy and rego, but I should be able to get the car cheaper than advertisted, the seller would not have to worry about offering a RWC and the usual used car waranty. Its a pity there is no national vehicle status checks register to check to see if the car has been stolen owes $$ etc, most states seem to have their own version.

not sure where redbook get their stats from but they ALWAYS seem to undervalue ANY car!!!! It seems the only people would would really get anything out of this service is the dealers/second hand car dealers, offering people very littlel for their cars If BF2's actually sold for the price redbook state, Id be driving around in one now!

Heard on the abc that barack obama is signing legislation that by 2016 all new cars produced in the US will have to meet new emissions tests and meet a new petrol consumption of 15km to one litre. That is under 7litres per 100km. The idea is to lower the consumption of oil which obviously in not infinite. Chances are many years after Australia will follow suit (as we usually do with the US). I think it is a probably a good idea, something has to be done, the oil stocks will not last for ever but will this mean the end of the performance car? Even worse if it is adopted in Aus in the future (yes I know it could be at least 10-15 years away) could it mean the end of Australian built cars? Will people just import from other countries who do not introduce such a policy to to get performance cars? Can serious performance be had from hybrid cars?

mate that is crazy check, just cannot find the extra 11k!!, I know how much better resale would be!! Might have a look at the ford employees auctions too, lucky enough to have a family member as an ex ford employee

was interstate this weekend, could not see the car. It looks as thought it has sold, doh!

just wondering if the sat nav is actually worth it, does anybody have built in sat nav? what software does it run (ie tom tom, where is etc)? have searched, some have said its pretty much a piece of on a bf1 can the software be updated with latest maps, more importantly can it be cracked and done for free

does seem to be the case, I have found the better valued cars in NSW and QLD. Im prepared to travel to find the right car though... will make the call tonight and see how it sounds

thought the price was not too bad as a starting point... have been looking for a few months, not a huge amount around atm. should have snapped up a black optioned 06 with only 45xxx km's. have had a black car before, they look amazing but only where they are clean and are a bitch to look after. not planning to mod at this stage (im sure that idea will not last too long) so the typhoon bottom end would be preffered but is not a must!

After possibly being the longest memeber to actually not have a xr6 (doh) im finally looking at an xr6t. Have been keeping my eyes open for a while and have found the below car http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...rbo&trecs=1 It is really well optioned but does have higher km's than I would have liked for the coin im prepared to spend. If a car is serviced on time is 76,000kms really that much for these engines? Im going to find out the build date, can anybody confirm oficially when the typhoon engines were put in all xr6t's? I thought it was the end of April 06? Any thoughts/comments on the car? the pictures are over exposed would have to see in the flesh to decide if I like the colour. thanks
-
Ive heard quoted on this site a few times bf's after April 06 got the same engine as the typhoon. It was a cost saver for Ford

I would not belive that flacons will increase by 2%. With such poor sales atm what would Ford expect to happen when they increase the price tag. With the fall in the economy people will have less to spend on luxery items, so Ford will have to make their prices more competative not increase them. I actually bought a set of surrond sound speakers (in dec 08) and the salesman told me he would give me little discount and id better buynow because there would be a huge jump of 30% in the new year. Again bullsh*t, just companies trying to scare people into buying up and increasing their sales.

thanks for the info, dad was with for for 25 years. I have found out it certainly does not apply to second hnd cars, I will be going to check out the ex-employee lease days to see what the second hands are worth there as well, you never know what sort of bargin you may get.

with interest rate falling and fuel down, I tihnk its finally time for me to make the move to a ar6 turbo. Have been looking at the early bf's (really wanted the 6 speed auto) both private and from car dealers. I have never bought from a dealer before but my father used to work for Ford and says I can get a discount on new cars as part of a privilage club. does anybody know how the process works? Does this aply to sendond hand cars as well, that is the % discount rate? can I try to beat the seller down on price inc trade in etc and then take off the discount? do I have to let the delaer know I will be applying for the discount before I start talking $$? quite like the look of the below car but it is pretty overpriced, the poor deales are struggling atm so I should be able to knock a fair bit off it. It has 6 speed auto, premium sound nice colour and sun roof is a bonus. https://www.fordusedcars.com.au/vehicle_det...rec_id=17408119 any comments or thoughts would also be appreciated, before anybody mentions it I cant afford to buy new thanks

the add is very average, every time Expensive Daewoo release ads that get you excited about the new car... the aussie ad just just makes me yawn

nice way to make new members feel welcome...

Ford rang me today and said that the state manager of warranty will have a look at my rim when he gets back from a junket in a couple of weeks.....There may be hope????? mate I would not hold your breath for that call....a few wekks souds like a brush off to me

that video is sickening both should be charged, thes epeople are meant to be protecting the public from harm and look at them. The majority of (not mean all secuirty guards) them are usually druuged up, on steriods or pissed and they cause more trouble than they cause. People always get assulted by these f**kers and lets not forget David Hookes. The issue is that alot of clubs and events who hire security guards for cash not registered for companies, they are always trouble (an usually drunk too) Not sure why people would want to go to summernats leta lone taken a care worth any more than my 88 laser.
