  1. Hi XR6 Turbo Forum Members, I just recently purchased a BA 2003 XR6 Turbo with 180,000 on the clock. This is my first turbo, my first Ford and I don't have a vast knowledge in regards to engines (just what I read on here since I bought the car a week ago) Modifications: The previous owner had a full gearbox reco done at 179,500 (with 1 year warranty), atmo blow off valve (with custom rubber pipe from intercooler), 4" turbo back exhaust, cold air intake with K&N pod. Car is running stock PSI (5 from boost gauge) The Issues: 1. On a cold start when accelerating at low speeds it feels like its misfiring - very weird feeling and very jittery. After around a minute or two it sorts itself out, but its concerning... I'm not sure if its the precursor to larger issues. 2. The coolant reservoir is spitting a small amount coolant (a fine mist) from one of the two small nozzles (connects to a thin rubber hose that leads down to the radiator I think). I have purchased a spare coolant reservoir and going to have a full coolant flush, swap of reservoir and coolant refill in about a week (quoted $100 for labor) Questions: 1. Due to the increased air coming in and air going out, I would assume that I should get a custom tune done? I got a quote from BTA Motorsport in Belmore for $880 (compared to Tunehaus' $1790). I am wanting to increase the boost to 8 or 9 as well as ensuring the ECU is utilizing the airflow. 2. Based on the above, would I need new injectors and valve springs? If so, how much do these usually cost? 3. I'm currently getting 19.6L/100KM which is huge (first tank of petrol since I bought her, mixture of squirts and standard under 2000rpm driving). What is the best way to bring this figure down? Will a tune help much? Thank you all for your help in advance.
  2. Hi Guys, First post. Just purchased a BA XR6 Turbo - Very happy with her so far. The previous owner installed an aftermarket head unit that is connected to all the speakers. He also had an aftermarket sub and amp (found the power cable running from the battery) however I cannot find where the power cable leads to as he removed them. The power cable ends in the dash (near the head unit). Anyway - The factory sub and amp are still hooked up to the ICC (when I switch it on and put on the radio the sub plays the bass). What I need to know is how to I connect the factory amp to the aftermarket head unit? Is it easy to do, or quite difficult? The sound system is average at best, I think he installed the factory speakers back in before he sold it. Im going to buy some Soundstream 5x7's and replace the fronts and rears. Regarding the tweeters - Do you need to rewire them completely with separate component kits... or can you plug and play aftermarket tweeters straight in? Thanks in advance. Nick
