Yeh its strange, never lose coolant and the temperature is perfect.

Is it normal for coolant to 'bubble' after turning of the car. Its like a bubbling sound that lasts a minute or two after turning the engine off. I have bled the system with heater on full up to operating temp, and theres no visible coolant leaks or noticeable loss of coolant. Another thread suggests its perfectly normal on these cars ?? I doubt that. Anyway I guess I'll try replace the reservoir cap next....

I've just done engine oil, gearbox oil and earls turbo feed. The car drives smooth as, and no error codes Im in SA, Heinrich Performance seems to be the choice of most and he's close, so that's who Im planning to use.

Yeh well the plan was to eventually go injectors, hf cat, fuel pump, intercooler, tune. But that's a bit further in the future, for now I have an x4 doing nothing and I just want a custom tune. I'll give the tuner a ring, but from what I've heard a custom tune shouldn't be too $$$

Ahh ok I was mistaken :( Yeh If I was gonna buy a 'mail tune' online I may as well pay the bit extra and get a custom dyno tune locally. Thanks for the info Rab.

Hey, So I just bought a brand new SCT x4 flash tuner, for now I just wanted to use the generic tunes and get a custom one later when I do some mods. I went to load a pre-loaded tune onto the car but it says there is none for this vehicle, with the message 'VEHICLE UNSUPPORTED HACCKJ7* contact technical support'. The car is a completely stock bfmk2 turbo, and the x4 is brand new AU edition. Is there something I'm doing wrong, can anybody help ?

160000km my 2nd synchro sucks as well, 3rds OK, rest are smooth as silk.

Nvm I guess that's for people with traction control on the dash! silly me

Hey guys, Installing a boost gauge and looking to take the illumination 12v from the traction control button as I have been told. I have the icc out but I can't work out where the traction control button gets its power from, as far as I can see its all hidden behind a circuit board ? Any help would be much appreciated

My bfmk2 'apparently' still has the stock clutch and it is quite heavy, real nice to drive though. Im guessing it needs quite a heavy clutch to not slip, even at stock power. My other car (not an xr6) has an excedy H/D clutch and the ford is still much heavier. If it still shifts fine, I'd say its fine. Better than it slipping at least...

removing waterpump ?! craaap scared me for a minute haha. Yeh this is thermostat housing, I was hoping to just loosen that tab pull hose out and replace o-ring but I guess it might not be that simple :/

Ahk awesome, sounds pretty straight forward. Hope its just the o-ring and the hose isn't perished aswell.

Hey, I've got a slow coolant leak from this hose that goes into the thermostat housing. How exactly does this seal ? It seems weird that they don't just use a normal outlet and hose clamp.

Well I crossed one thing of my list and changed the gearbox oil. Used Penrite Pro Gear 70-75 and I must say it has made a difference. Definitely a bit heavier than the Dexron iii that was in their but 2nd to 3rd gear changes are much smoother now.

I don't know for sure as I have no boost gauge or SCT etc. But I'm pretty confident it's not overboosting. If an engine light comes on when it overboosts then I can be 100% sure as currently there is no engine warning lights.

Hey, I was just reading through the receipts and logbooks from the previous owner of my bf mk2. It has 156000 k's atm, but at 126000 k's an inspection was done by the ford dealership one thing of note on the report was - "Possible overboost logged, checked wastgate seems OK, needs further inspection". It's stock and certainly drives like it's not overboosting, hits peak boost very quick, so I'm assuming its fine and has since been fixed. But just for reassurance if the car did overboost an engine warning light would display correct ?

Haha damn mines sitting at 13.3l/100k which isn't too far off the 12.9 figure ford give. Heres a couple pics: First up is new tyres and alignment (crazy camber wear and uneven wear) Gearbox service (2nd to 3rd is sometimes a little rough, maybe I'm just not use to it) and one of those aux cables with the booster.

Hey all, finally in the club. After driving my old skyline (1986!!) daily for the last 4 years I thought it was time for an upgrade, xr6t was the dream. I picked up a nice BF mk2 6sp manual with premium interior and sound. A much nicer ride and much more power than my old ride :) It's very much stock apart from a well hidden BOV and aftermarket intercooler. Being a student theres not much money for mods, just gotta fix a few niggly issues but so far I'm loving it (not so much the fuel consumption haha).

Hey guys, new here. I've read through most of the FAQ's, buyers guides etc but I still want some personal opinions. Its finally time to retire my trusty R31 and upgrade to something a bit newer. I've always loved xr6t's and have my heart set on one. My budget is around 10k - 11max, looking around theres a lot of BA's and a few BF's. Ideally I want something completely stock with <150000k's. Also pretty set on auto as I hear theyre a bit stronger than the manuals. I have a few questions I'm hoping some people can offer their help on... 1. Is the BF 6-speed really THAT much better than the BA 4 speed ? 2. Theres a lot for sale with just over 100000K's, is there a reason? still have plenty of life in them? 3. Will be used to tow a track car every so often, reckon they're pretty good at towing ? 4. Anything to look out for when looking at cars to buy ? Thanks guys, hope to be in an xr6t soooon!
