  1. Mate at work had a Malamute. he had to end up putting it down as it was stating to get visious with his wife and daughter. It was fine while he was at home but as soon as he left she would get up on her hind legs and try to break the back door down to get into the house and when she would let it in it would bail her up. It howled all night. The dog was walked every day and he took it to work at least once a week as well. it destroyed his back yard, holes everywhere and even chewed his hardwood deck. he had trainers come to his house to try and fix her he even tried a dog wisperer. He did heaps of research and got it from a really good breader in VIC as well (he lives on the gold coast). You want a fun, loving, loyal dog that is great with kids. get a staffie. I hated dogs before I got my staffie but now I wouldn't get any other dog.
  2. Mine ran out with 24km to go. Have never let it get that low since

    Brake Question

I have RDA's and they are great. havn't tried DBA's but the RDA's are very good. have had them on for about 20-30000km and no problems at all.
  4. I got caught doing 104km/h in a 60 zone last year. (I was my own stupid fault no excuse) $700 fine, 8 points and automatic 3 month suspension. if I was going 105km/h it would have been over $1000 fine 10 points and 6 months well that's what the cop said anyway, so I was a lucky. I had to wait to get the letter in the mail saying that it was suspended took that the the court to say I was appealing the sentence (not the charge). took that the queensland transport who reinstated my license till the court date and then just went to court and said that I needed my license for work, I drive a truck, and they canceled the suspension. and I don't have the best driving record either.
  5. hey pat i sent you a PM.

    Disk Combination

if you are going to change them yourself just make sure you get some steel wool and sand back the hub before you put the new rotors on as it will probably have a bit of surface rust on it and this can be enough to make the rotor not sit flush and cause them to shudder again.
  8. don't bother getting a new pully as the are a sob to get on and off and you need special tools to do it. just get a new water pump they are about $150. make sure u look at it first it needs to have really big holes for the bolts as if it doesnt you will have to trim the screws to get them past the pully.
  9. I did loose it but I had 2 days to clam down before I talked to them and I still wanted them to fix the scratch. The thing that still really annoys me is the fact that the owner of the business didn't even have the balls to talk to me himself instead he just sent his lacky to do it for him. Well the old saying is the best advertising is word of mouth and I don't have 1 good thing to say about them
  10. yeah I was thinking about getting my brother in law or his wife as they are both lawyers to write them a letter
  11. I had my windows tinted on the T last Friday by the so called reputable tint shop 2for1 on the gold coast. when I got my car home I noticed a scratch in the tint so I rang them up and they said no worries bring it in and we will fix it. I was like fine no problems at least they will fix it. so I just thought I mite have a look at the rest of the car to make sure nothing else was wrong. so I started checking and this is what I found Some how they have managed to completely crack my tweeter pod on the drivers door. When I found this it was about 5:30pm and they where closed and also not open sat so I rang them on monday and told them sand they said bring it in. So I took the car back monday afternoon to get the tint fixed and to show them. At first completely denied that they have done it saying that anyone could have broken it. I then said that they would have had to remove it( it is built onto the covering in the corner of the door so it just un-clips) to do the window so when you have removed it you have obveiously just grabbed it and pulled and it has now broken and the way it is broken could have only happened when it has been taken off. I told them that it is only about 3 months old and it has never been taken off since it was installed and they are the only people to touch it and now it is broken. he then took it to show the owner of the shop and come back and said that the owner said that they haven't broken it. I then asked if I could talk to the owner to which I was told no he is too busy. I told them that I can fix it as I made them all I want was for them to cover the cost of having it mod-coated again. He then said again that he used to be an audio installer and if they have done it they would have noticed it when they put it back on. he then asked how much to fix it and I said it would cost about $80-$100 to have it coated again and he just said no they aren't going to cover it. I just really pisses me off is the fact that some people have so little respect for other people's property that they can handle things so rough that they break them and I now have to pay for it to be fixed. It would have been very hard to break as it is made out of fiberglass and is rock solid. as you can see in the second pic they have cracked right through about 3mm thick fiberglass and bog up the side of the pod so they have used a lot of force. they also managed to loose a screw cover from the bottem of the door.
  12. Yeah cost is a big one, being about $600 a tyre for a new one versus about $250 for a retread. and you would be lucky to get 30000km from a tyre. The 1 thing that destroys retreads is heat. obviously underinflated tyres would cause this but nearly every truck driver I know does a full walk around every day checking tyres/lights everything. But being a owner driver I can't vouch for company drivers as there arn't any at my work. Even though you seem to see them every where it doesn't happen that often. Work out how may tyres are on a semi. its 22. times that by how many trucks are on the road. now think about how many you see. it really doesn't happen that much. that isn't taking into account b doubles either + another 12 tyres. Why are they allowed to be fitted. well truck tyres are are different from car tyres as they are desinged to be retreaded. most can be regroved as well. (they cut a new tread into the old tyre). Also in Australia there is no govenment approval system for tyres we use the american system. eg "DOT" I always have 2 tyres sitting there ready to go. when I wear out my tyres I have the new ones put on and away I go. the old tyres (cases) are sent away to be capped (retreaded). before they cap them are are x-rayed to make sure the are still alright and if they pass they will recap them. if not sent to the bin. Where I get my retreads from I get a garentee if 1 blows out they will replace it. but I also don't do alot of highway work so I don't get anywhere near the heat required to do this. there are also different types of retreds. hot and cold. this refers to the prossess in which they are made. one is done with hot rubber and the other with cold. hot recaps arn't as good and can't take as much as cold ones but the are also cheaper. Yeah that is true, but next time see how old the truck is. all older trucks run 2 piece rims are they are very prone to the wobbly tyres you describe. Most trucks built in the last 10 years or so now run either billet alloys or steel 1 piece rims and you don't get that problem anymore. even trailers now run billet alloys. You will notice most jap trucks (Izuzu, hino, UD,) run steel but most american and europian trucks (kenworth, mack, sterling, Volvo, merc, scania, daf) run alloys standard. And Most drivers are now putting alloys on as they last longer and look better and at like $700 dollars a rim it aint cheap either.

    Backfire

my car used to do that as well you would try and start it and it would blow the line off and splutter almost like it was only running on 5 cylinders. I just zip tied the vac line on and since I replaced the the plugs and had an edit no issues. It only ever did it twice about 3 weeks apart.
  14. I own and drive a truck so I am going to come to the defense of truckies. I can tell you if one of my tyres blew out(it has never happened) I would not be running across 4 lanes of traffic driving at 110k/h to try and collect it when 90% of people wont even slow down when there are roadworks on the M1(and the speed limit it 60). Also I have seen a retread blow out on a b-double and the driver not even know and it is very common. Unless you see or hear it, it is very easy to not know it has happened.
  15. I have just turned 24. I bought a my house last year and have a $400K mortgage. I have had my T for just under 3 years and it is on finance but only for another 2 months. Next year some time I be looking to get a new FG F6 ute. I also have a $170k truck on a Chattel mortgage as well which I have had for 18 months.
  16. Is this what you are after?
  17. my fiance dives the T (hence the plates) and I have a 93 navara to drive to work, I'm not going to park a good car in a quarry all day
  18. I own a concrete truck so we are starting to get a bit worried, not for the immediate future but for about year or so down the track. The building industry is a bit up and down at the moment. Housing is dead we haven't done a house slab in about 3 weeks. Industrial work is all we are doing at the moment and the company I contract for has a few big jobs on the cards which should keep us busy for the next 6 to 12 months but after that who knows. If people can't borrow any money they wont be building anything.
  19. yeah my mate from work mite be taking his xy out which hopefully will run a high 8 this will be his first full run in it so I mite be heading out
  20. try running a thermo fan so it can cut in when your oil gets to a certain temp. also good if you do alot of city stop start driving. don't know about the price but it is just a thought.
  21. Hey mate. if you look after the car and don't flog the sh*t out of it all the time and you do regular and through services these engines do last a long time. My car has done 150,000 and has had a edit for over 50,000 running 10psi and no probs yet, touch wood. Just be aware the old saying you play you pay. If you start to modify them you can't expect nothing to go wrong.
  22. I inquired with ford before I made my speaker pods in case I stuffed up and they aren't sold separately and a new door trim was over $500, and I rang like 10 wreckers and no one had any ba door trims but this was over 2 1/2 years ago though. but yeah they are plastic welded from behind just drill off the weld and screw the new one on.
  23. His lights where on you can just see them behind the back window.
  24. saw this pull over a car today on the M1
  25. that's is why the first thing I said was talk to your solicitor. did I say anything about each states rules being the same, he asked what are his chances and I answered his question, with a situation almost exactly the same as his that I have been evolved in.
