  1. Alas the build and the quality of the materials used in a sh*tty VW Golf make even the FG feel like it was made in the 70's.
  2. I like the diagnosis about it melted because the bottom end was more efficient. When you run the car on the dyno, what gear and what KM/h do you run it up to? Going to a swirl pot and a Motorsport pump is the next step, but noisy.
  3. For $25K I would go for a 01 onwards. The build quality is great. Gearbox is a drama if you want to dump it, having said that, one of mine had 175Kwatw and the box was fine. As for buying one with mods, I wouldn't let that be a factor, so long as it has been tuned for them, no dramas. The last one I sold had done 80,000kms+ and never had a cent spent on fixing anything. Diff between 01 and 02, is the gearing changed. 03>got sh*t interior. Having said that, I may be biased as I am purchasing another Sti. After driving around in AU Tickford Fairmont Ghia for the last month. I realised I wouldn't be able to overlook how second rate the Fords are, just because it has the potential to go quick in a straight line.
  4. Turn it into an Audi RS6/BMW M5/ AMG CLS55
  5. Summoner, You do tune them with a laptop or hand controller, the hand controller on most of them is for doing minor adjustments, Data displays and for storing and switching maps.

    Xt6t "value"

Just wait till the next premium. My MUms AU Tickford Ghia went from $35K one year to $18K the next.
  7. Dave Alexander, used to be Alexander Rotary. Very good tuner, been in the game for ages. Does ECUTEK as well.
  8. Having owned V8's and a WRX, you always have the window down to hear the rumble. on a xr6t, bit pointless. yes nearly every Japanese car has auto up and down, fantastic invention, Ford only noticed half of it though.
  9. I can get hold of a complete Fairmont Ghia dash. Hopefully.
  10. Can the Climate control system and the Premium sound from a BA Ghia, be fitted to a plane jane XR6t? Would it be a simple Plug'n'play operation, assuming you had all the necessary cabling and computers etc? Thanks
  11. THe XR6t has the best turbo ever bolted to a production engine. Without the turbo on it, it would n't even rate in the top 500 engines ever made. If you want a bullet proof bottom end as well as box, get a 2j, 1000hp on a stock motor.
  12. So all they add is the bigger fascia and a Colour TFT? Colour TFT panels in 6.5" are $150 for a good quality Sharp unit. The Fascia is $120 or so. Or is some special unit required to get the additional info onto the display? If it still uses the same connection and just some software upgrade from a dealer. The price seems to be to dear.
  13. Join this forum, maybe someone in perth can help. http://www.detailparadise.com.au/ Have a look to see what can be done to a black car ie: The mercedes in the Thread http://www.detailparadise.com.au/modules.p...order=0&thold=0 As for your car, it can be saved. As for the quality of FORD paint. My oldman had all the swirl marks etc removed from his car (perfect) job. 6 months later they are back. He uses 2 sponges, 2 different buckets, washes the top half first, then the bottom. Does everything you are meant to do and still gets them. The quality of the clear is sh*t. But don't despair, it can be saved.
  14. Speaking of belts. One of the reasons I am looking at a XR6t is to carry an expanded family. THe centre belt in the ford, is too short to fit a bay capsule in the correct position.
