  1. My bad forgot to mention fuel filter already did that too, thanks will tell the mechanic to change diff oil when he changes the bush's over
  2. yeah I appreciate your help. Gonna change the oil feed line on saturday. So far I've basically; serviced my car oil an oil filter change (using fully synthetic oil, think the brand was nuovo) cleaned out the actuator using wd40 cleaned the injectors using some additive from super cheap auto, just added it when I filled up is there anything else I should do in terms of maintaining the engineer and other parts?
  3. I wasn't asking for a how-to was just asking if it should be cleaned or not don't want to touch something that shouldn't be
  4. I really hope so. On a second note should the oil line connecting to the turbo be cleaned or something?
  5. In all honesty not looking to make a drag car, and with all this ZF transmission rebuild talk I'm kinda worried now haha. I just wanted to reach like 300 rwkw and not have the same xr6t as everyone else on the street. Like just the basic mods to give it a lil more power and a better sound.
  6. I appreciate your comments and will take everything you said into consideration. I was actually going to service the transmission but after I heard the quote for changing oil, pan, filter etc I backed off and said not to worry about (was around 8-900). Would ebay be the best place to buy second hand parts I.e. intercooler and exhaust or are there are websites or places that offer better and cheaper options. Also what stage intercooler would be sufficient?
  7. I only got the auto cos the ZF thought it was one of best gearboxes out there? I'm not looking to go over 400 rwkw though basically just the changes I mentioned. Is the gear box able to cope with those changes? So far my budget is about 2-2.5k $350 for piping, relocation of battery and pod filter(air filter whatever it is) so ill have around 2k leftover to do exhaust, intercooler, injectors and tune, is that possible or do I need more (mind you I'm looking at second hand parts, unless I should steer away from second hand)
  8. I was quoted $350 for the relocation of the battery, the new piping along with the pod filter located where the battery used to be. I know turbo back exhausts are expensive but I'm not in a huge rush, I'm looking at bargains for second hand parts, same with the intercooler. Unless doing the mods for $350 is a bad thing that will cripple my car then ill consider something else, from what I've seen and read in my eyes its looks cheap and worth doing. Am I missing something? Will those changes damage my car, or be too much for the engine (internals) to handle? Obviously I need a tune up and better injectors but that would be the last step, correct me if I'm wrong.
  9. im not sure if I should be worried about this problem or not
  10. The jerking/knocking on the back feeling doesn't arise when I let off the throttle, it happens when I'm going full throttle just as I'm about hit max boost and change gears. I only let go of the throttle in fear that I'm going to damage the car lol. It's weird in the sense that it doesn't always happen and was fine for nearly a week until I noticed it last night. If it is over boosting is it common to lose power its almost as if someone is pulling me from behind. I'm gonna try use 98 fuel from now on and see if it happens again.
  11. Yeah I called my mechanic earlier did some quick research and asked to install the Nolathanes, since labour is so much and I don't want to attempt doing it myself, so may as well put the ones that don't break 'easily'. Although he said they were split in half I honestly could not tell at all, ride was comfortable never felt any discomfort, only issue the car has an it doesn't happen all the time is when I'm testing how quick the car, pretty much going full throttle. The issues arises just before the turbo is ready to unleash and before changing to the next gear it feels like all power is lost and the car jerks and I just slow down immediately as I'm worried I'm wrecking the car. At first I thought it was the fuel I was using and/or spark plugs, changed the plugs and coils and made sure to use 95 (maybe the previous owner was using 91 or something). After a couple of refills when the old fuel had been used up the car seized doing that weird jerk (like someone was hitting me from behind) but the other day I filled 98 and it did it again just earlier. My friend reckons its just a safety mechanism when the car over boosts but I'm not entirely convinced, could it be the bushes or something worse? I'm pretty sure its not injectors as this issue would be present during the entire ride and not when I'm flooring it.
  12. So need to change the bush's, rear diff mounting bush and rear diff lower arm front bushes, he quoted me 900-1000 including labour and parts, however not sure what type to get. The genuine ford bushes last 70-80k (quoted by mechanic) Teflon bushes last much much longer but offer an uncomfortable ride (again quoted) Both would be the same price according to him. Should I get the teflon bush's (or any other superior brand) or go genuine? Is the ride really that uncomfortable? And does anyone have a link to buy them online for a cheaper price?
  13. He actually wasn't vague it was just me not completely understanding what he was saying lol due to be excited over my new car. Basically he said exactly what you wrote except he mentioned that a turbo back exhaust would be better then a cat back. Correct me if I'm wrong in names lol, but is this a good idea? Relocate the battery on the right side, remove the air filter and crossover Connect a cold air intake pipe to the turbo and attach a pod filter at then end and place it where the "battery used to be" (for cold air purposes) Finally connect a pipe to the intercooler (not sure what its called I'm gonna call it 'pipe' All up 350 max, good idea or not?
  14. And here I thought this site was helpful, LOL bunch of stuck up d'ckheads
  15. How would I know if the diffbush is on its way? Also how are the turbos, do they last?
  16. Yeah its just I'm worried about modifying it and breaking something else along the way just wanted to cover all bases. I do everything myself or well try too and try to use the best materials, oils etc for my car (had a Late model camira previously that I looked after as best I could). As I said I'm not looking to go 350+ rwkw, just want a bit more power then the stock. I picked mine up weekend that just passed has done about 170k, what problems should I expect at this mileage?
  17. I appreciate the response, thanks mate
  18. Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and was told that I would find help here for modding my car. I just purchased an 07 bf mkii xr6t and was looking at modding it. I'm not looking to go extreme, a mate of mine has suggested to do the following; - bigger intercooler - turbo back exhaust - injectors (not sure which one) - some sort of air filter/steel pipe (not exactly sure what he was saying, something along the lines of crafting it himself as he says its easy ) - finally a tune up I apologise if I sound like an idiot but yeah its my first turbo car as I just got my full licence. Are these mods safe? Will I need to change the valve springs, actuator, fuel pump or anything for the matter if I decide to go ahead with these mods? Like I said I'm not looking to go all out on mods simply due to budget constraints. Cheers guys any help would be greatly appreciated, oh and its an auto, was going to get manual but was convinced to get auto due to the ZF gearbox.
