  1. ITB's are still fuel injection. just individual throttle body's
  2. ive re costed pretty much everything and to do the LS1 will be upwards of 13k. I have an EB 5.0 sitting in my front yard.. could be an option.
  3. the costing for the LS1 was about 10k. they make mounts in the US for them. the cosly part is all the little things I would need. like a new ECU fuel pumps and all that jazz. plus the motor and box will cost upwards of 4k. so a barra 6 costing under 100 dollars, a manifold costing around 500 bucks, 1k for webers and another 1k for msd ignition. im still costing less than a motor and box. im hoping to do the conversion for around the 5k mark but im not phase if its 2 or 3k over.
  4. thanks for the input guys really appreciate it. as for the inlet manifold I would have to get one made up to suit the position of the motor, if I do have to tilt it. if that's the case I will try a dry sump. which will give me some much needed clearance. if that also doesnt work ill have to notch the subframe. I have an old italian guy in my industrial area that wrecks old alfa romeos that can do the carbs for 300 each. or 1k for all three rebuilt. this might just end up costing me a load but its something no one has done and that's rare these days. how do I post pics from my computer?
  5. ive costed up an LS1 conversion for for that kind of money id rather build a BMW engine. plus the clearence for the headers isnt enough to clear the steering box. and im not anti-boost im just pro N/A. its more satisfying building tough N/A car. im pretty set on 3 webers too. purely for the crazy fuel consumption, crappy reliability and the sound.. ohh the sound. the power and tourque figures to come from these carbies is pretty impressive also.
  6. a bastard it shall be, I wanted something different and that's what I will create. anyone know the dimensions of the 4L height/length etc.
  7. hey guys I know what you're thinking carbs on a barra? yes I would like to do an engine conversion on my 76 BMW 5 series and have decided I want to use a ford barra as they're in high circulation and im tired of hunting high and low for parts. but the catch is I want nothing to do with fuel injection. so ive been told that as a start I need either an XR6 or dedicated gas motor. as theyre the same apart from the fuel system? then I want to retro fit x3 48mm DCOE webers to it. and run electronic ignition. ( because I have to. ) I might have to run the motor at a slight angle but im not entirely sure untill I have the motor to play with positions. will with disrupt oil feed? the motor will slant towards the drivers side. after the engine is in the car I can work on getting it tip top. but what would you guys recommend I do to the motor prior to installation. cheers boys.
