  1. I found a few, it seems the options are quite different between ECUs, can you "upgrade" your PCM from that of another compatible car to allow the addition of other tables etc? Eg implementing your own "lean cruise" etc?
  2. Does anyone have any XR6T tunes for HP tuners I could load up to have a look at in the demo software? There are lots of v8 files that come with it but I'd like to see the boost maps etc.
  3. I signed up but no one replies to my threads there, not sure what the deal is. I'll read some stickies and see how I go playing with the demo software. Ordered the pro cable on Friday just need to sort out a wideband. Cheers for the help
  4. The reason for asking is it would be cool to play with things like getting all the windows to wind down at once with 1 button press etc. I know you could hook into the canbus with a micro controller to achieve this but would be interesting to see if anyone has decompiled the PCM code and commented sections as I've seen with other ECUs. With it not being a live tune ecu what are the main differences to how you approach tuning? Are there any threads you would recommend reading?
  5. Cool and the bit about modifying the actual PCM code, has anyone done that before? edit: re the modifying if I was stealing their tune and copying it onto other peoples cars or claiming it was my own doing then selling my services to others, yeah I can understand that being a dick move but that is absolutely not what I am trying to do.
  6. So any answers to the above questions?
  7. Yeah I couldn't give two sh*ts haha. Does anyone know if custom pcm code can be written, eg editing the actual assembler code? I realise you could brick the pcm pretty easily by doing this but I've seen it done on other ecus eg evo and skyline.
  8. There is nothing really wrong with the tune, I just want to perfect it and I like tweaking. There is nothing wrong with the cruise control.
  9. Car is far from stock, ID1000s, intercooler etc etc making ~320rwkw so don't really feel like undoing all the tuning I've had done!
  10. Can I get some recommendations on wideband sensor as well? Preference is something with narrowband simulation I can install permanently in the dump pipe.
  11. So yeah if the tune was done in XCAL can it actually be locked? I've been told HPTuners can easily suck out the existing tune and simply tweak that. Yes/no/issues ?
  12. That was the plan yes. I want to tweak the cold start and play with some of the cruise stuff to perfect it, the last 10% that takes 90% of the time if you will.
  13. OK I'll get the pro then. I've downloaded the trial and had a brief look, planning on having a proper look this weekend. The tune was done by an XCAL, how do I know if it is locked?
  14. Ok if I can't map trace then am I better off simply datalogging with the XCAL and buying the standard MVPI ?
  15. So I'm looking at buying HP tuners VCM suite however the AUD sucks balls at the moment making it almost $900 for the software and cable from the US. Anyone know any way to buy it cheaper? I'm not looking at doing full tuning just tweaking existing tune so the $900 feels almost not worth it by the time I purchase a wideband set up as well. Is there any reason to buy the pro MVI interface that accepts the wide band input, eg can I do map tracing and show registered AFR for each cell if I buy this? If not am I better off buying the standard interface and simply logging via the SCT XCAL which I already have? Map tracing that can play history showing me exactly which cell and AFR at the time would be great if possible but not really sure how the software works until I buy it. Anyone here bought and used these products before?
  16. Ended up getting recommened "Southern Steering and Suspension" by the adelaide superpro distributor as Pedders said they won't use supplied parts anymore, the new place only quoted me $190 to do the blade bushes and $190 for each side of the front end to fit bushes. Apparently has one of the best wheel alignment machines in SA according to Cartorque (superpro distributor). Will see how I go and report back.
  17. All the complete arms come with stock rubber bushes. Pedders said they can use an oversize balljoint if required (eg its been replaced a bunch of times already). I will just get the LCA bushes done at the same time and use the super pro items. Thanks
  18. They quoted me "around $1000" in labour to do rear control blade bushes if I supply the parts?????!?!?
  19. $460 and $300 are both labour only quotes. Those bushes are $195 after some shopping around, can't see them cheaper than $220 on ebay so the total would be $195 + $300 to change. Superpro quote 3 hours minimum labour to change, they suggest 4 hours is reasonable for their "competition use" bushes so it doesn't seem that outrageous as most workshops charge $80-100/hr. Car has 190,000kms on it, how many changes would that ball joint have seen over its normal log book service life? The log book has been filled out all the way up to 180,000 km. Do the lower bushes f*ck out often enough to bother just changing the arm anyway? Cheers for the advice
  20. edit: Yes it is a BF MKII You can do the ball joint yourself if you take the whole arm out of buy a mini in car press, one is more expensive than paying someone, the other is too much work. Also with my lack of good tools, big press, jack etc f*cked if I'm going to drop the rear cradle by myself. I'm more than happy to pay someone these days. But yeah the question is, is there really a safety issue pressing the old ball joint out, and if not is doing the lower bushes so worth doing that I might as well do the arms anyway?
  21. I need to replace this balljoint as it is shagged. Workshop I normally go to said they will only replace the whole arm (new bushes and ball joint) as they have found when you press the balljoint out it opens up slightly which means it is at a much higher risk of failing and they said due to safety they won't do it anymore. Anyone else heard of this? Pedders will do it for $160 just the ball joint, the other place wants ~$550 to replace the arm (including new balljoint and bushes), the issue is I should really do both sides which at $1100 is a fair wack of money. I also need to find out if this is just OEM bushes as well. Also I got prices for fitting rear control blade (front) bush, $460 at pedders and $300 at the workshop I normally go to. Can get superpro bushes for $195 What would you do, is doing all the lower control arm bushes something worth doing anyway?
  22. How much more work would it be to remove the arm and just do it in a bench top press?
