I have a query if anyone else has experienced a noise in the FGMk11 turbo manual gearbox. I noticed a few weeks back when reversing my car out of the garage that a "ticking" noise had developed from 0 to about 4 km/h. The noise happens in both forward / reverse and appears to go with the speed of the tail shaft. I had a look at the driveline on a vehicle pit where I rolled it back and forward by hand and couldn't get it to happen, but as I reversed off the pit it started again. Now, narrowed it down to having to be in gear. I thought it may have been the plastic counter weights on the rear tail shaft flange but the noise does not come from that area. I suspect something internal in the box. I took the car back for its 3000km check at ford and mentioned the noise (straight away the service advisor just assumed it was roll over noise which it is not!). I pointed out the noise in question to the ford mechanic and he was a bit lost, so the car was re-booked for a later check. Long story short, the car spent 3 days at the dealer last week with the box pulled out as they assumed it was a fault with the clutch ( I still politely disagreed with this as the noise is going with road speed). A new clutch went in apparently after much head scratching only to find the ticking still there when they drove the car again. I was advised that they then grabbed a turbo ute with about 16K on the clock and noticed it was doing the same thing. In there conclusion they have just accepted the fact that this a normal noise for these boxes to make......I am not overly convinced. I have requested that they keep me informed if ford happens to find a problem but I am not holding my breath. Has anyone else here had this happen with their manual box as I haven't found any threads on the topic? Any feed back would be handy. My car is a sedan. Other than that I cant get enough of this car!!!!!
